Wensday Wonders

TBT:  After comments about Binq's claws yesterday, I have decided Taz and Binq need fuller names.  Well, Lori is really "Lorelei Lee" (from a sci-fi book).  Marley is "Bob Marley" (for his calmness).  But Binq came with just a single Shelter name (and I decided to keep it since it was unusual and I liked it).  

Taz originally came with a single Shelter name too.  It was "Pumpkin" (which didn't seem to suit him).  So I looked up names and chose "Loki" (which I decided later I didn't like).  So I changed it to "Tasmanian Devil" (and apologies to Tasmania, but I keep pronouncing that Tazmania, so he is "Taz").

So in honor of Binq-and-Taz's first Gotcha day Monday, I will give them full names.  Binq's new full name is "Binq Scissorpaws" and Taz's is "Taz Food Thief".

Binq's is inspired by Ellen's comment about "Binq's name should be Edward Scissorhands".  Thank you, Ellen, and here is a closeup of her claws...

The closeup lost some resolution.  Her claws are sharper than they look here.  My hands can attest to that!  She grabs my hands to pull them down for scritichies.

Taz deserves the "Food Thief" addition.  I have a habit of cooking chicken and pork (but not beef steaks) when I buy them, but all are frozen in zip-lock bags so they have to be thawed for dinner.  I do that in the bags in a saucepan in hot water.  Since water still leaks into the bags when submerged, I have to clip the seal above the water level.  

Taz has perfected the art of pulling the bag out of any container (even a lidded saucepan)!  I don't know how he can detect meat in a zip-lock bag, under water and pull it out from a lidded saucepan.  But I suppose every cat has some secret personal superpower.

He did it last night too.  I was only out of the kitchen for a few minutes, and there the pork loin slice was there on the floor.  Fortunately, it was still frozen, and he isn't sure what to do with frozen food.  But he really is a dedicated food thief.  I feed him all he will eat, but he can't resist the smell of more.

I'm always too annoyed to find the camera and take a pic of the bag-on-the-floor..

I'll have to add a sidebar widget of "full names" for The Mews.  Otherwise, I will keep changing them.  Consistency of names is good.

Whisker Wensday

TBT HERE:   

I mentioned the whisker collection bottle some posts back.  I keep them in a small bottle.  It is getting packed these days but there is room for more.

I dumped them out on a contrasting cloth and spread them out for a picture...

Getting them out was easy.  Getting them back into the bottle was maddening...  I had to use a small funnel.  LOL!

And I can only imagine how many whiskers I DIDN'T find...

Wrasslin Wensday

MARLEY:  Laz thinks he can wrassle me.  MOL!  "AS IF"!  I let him play.  Im a good brofur.  But really...  He nosed my bowl yesserday.  I put a paw on his head an put his chin on the floor.  Gently, of course...

LAZ:  OH yeah?   Well whoo has da mat now, huh?

 *I* have it.

MARLEY:  Laz is OK.  Cool dude kitty...  Pushover, thow.

Wensday Lap Fights

MARLEY:  Sometimes I get the Lap.

And Iza hates that...

I know what she's thinking.  "How can I get him off the Lap"?

 Staring won't work, Iza, I'm settled...

 So nap on the otto-man...

But I had to go visit the litterbox.  I told her, don't get up there while I'm gone.

But she did.  

So I looked up and told her ta get off.  I jumped...

 I even got above her real fast.  But she put her teeth on my chin!  Yikes!

Well, the otto-man is comfy too

I've got 2.5 pounds on her, but she is very strong.  Maybe I need to exercise more...  But seriously, it bothers me to fuss with a sisfur.

Wensday Hut Debate

MARLEY:  The last time I was in here, I felt all crowded.

But with some practice, I got fitted in more comfortable.

AYLA:   Marley, I want my spot back!  Get yer OWN hut.  In fact there is a larger one next to it that would fit you better an TBT put a folded mat in IT just for you...

MARLEY:   Sorry sisfur, you can have it back later.  Im COMFY!

I will, however, give that other hut a look.  I hadnt noticed there was a mat in it...

Wensday Morning 7AM

MARLEY:  Good Morning, Sunshine...

I can hear the soft breathing
Of TBT beside me,
As I lie on my platform
In the early sunlight,

The morning sun on me
Warms up my tummy,
As I ready myself
For the day to begin.

For I know with the smell
Of the stinky goodness breakfast
I must be away and
The day's joys will start!

For a spoonful of Tuna
And a few more of Beef,
I've woken and

Now I must run down the hallway,
Into the kitchen,

Then out to the backyard,

AYLA:  Got to check out the strange stuff!  And yeah this was a few days ago, but I am catchin up from not feelin great last week.

Like this green thing.  Sure it LOOKS like a leaf, but I gotta make sure its not a surprise left by the Evil Skwerls...

Watched One Wensday

MARLEY:  Yeah, Iza was intently watching Ayla, sitting innocently on the ladder next ta the fishie tank!  She was watching Iza watchihg HER.

But she was there ta innocently watch the fishies.  And I say "innocently" honestly.  We all watch the fishies but TBT has never noticed one actually missing.  Anny that die are found inside, dead...

But it is never a good thing fer her when Iza gets that "antelope in the lioness's gaze" look.

So she went at sat next ta TBT fer a while, Iza lost innerest, and I could finally relax...

TV Wensday

IZA:  There are dangers sitting next ta the TV.  Oh the spot is warm, and the towel TBT put there fer me is comfy.  But there are sometimes scarey things on the TV TBT watches.

Like this HUGE insect.  And it eats anything.  Mebbe cats?

 Really have to just not watch it sometimes.  I mean, that THING is bigger than I am.

TBT:  Well it WAS bigger than you once Iza, but it is long gone at that size.  Like dinosaurs.  This one is modern an much smaller than you.

IZA:  "Whappable"?

TBT:  Very...  That one was small and eating a LITTLE bug.

IZA:  Whew!  TV can really mess yer mind sometimes. 

Posey Wensday

AYLA:    I pose well.  TBT says its "classical".  Not like I ever went to "Classical School"...

But here it is.  Front paws straight down, tail curled around front.

Its just my normal sitting position, but TBT makes a big thing of it.  Well, he SHOULD.

Whisker Hump Wensday

Well, we are STILL locked up inside again today!  We talked among ourselfs about it, and none of us can remember not being allowed outside for 3 days before.  TBT says the contractor has assured him the work will be completed by lunchtime.

So we will continue posting about our inside evening activities...

IZA:  Well, its about TIME.  I was beginning ta think he forgot about my OUTSTANDING whisker humps!
