Gorgeous Ginger Graphic, et al

The Big Thing here: The Gorgeous Ginger graphic has been deleted. It suddenly went all animated on me and I find that annoying. Skeeter is still proud to be a Gorgeous Ginger, but he agrees all the sudden movement is distracting. If there is a non-animated graphic to disply, we agree it would be nice to show it.

And, BTW, LC wants a (non-animated) Tuxedo graphic for herself.

I should also mention that we (Me, Skeeter and LC) have all talked about the new kitty idea and have not yet made up our minds about whether it should be 1 or 2 new kitties. We have kind of decided we would like our new friend(s) to be Meezer, Burmese or Russian Blue assuming I can find a nice friendly one/ones. Or maybe one of two kinds. We are very diverse-friendly here. :)

The Big Thing out, back to Skeeter and LC control...

Ooh, Those Big Truckses!

LC: Ooh, the evil take-away big truckses! We see those sometimes but we dont like them. The Big Thing puts stuff outside and those Big Things in trucks come along and steal them for themselfs. That's anover good reason not to ever go out into the big scary front yard. They might grab us, too an crunch us like they do bags and bottles and our old food cans... They all scream when crunched! So we don't want any part of that.

An the big doggies and the big noisy things and the Big Things that walk past. We don't want any padrrt of them either. We feel a lot safe juss watchin them from inside. It is so much safer bein out in the back yard surrounded by the fence and The Big Thing watchin us!

It is so dangerous bein outside sometimes. Today we were both sittin out and some horrible shsarp loud sounds happened! Even The Big Thing was upset and concerned. He dint jump or anything, but we both high-tailed it into the cave. Skeeter was even all puffed and that hardly even ever happens even when he is upset. Probly cause he was bein all brave and in the far part of the back yard.

LOL! You shoulda seen him run. I bet that was the farthest he has run in years! An when he came in, he was all skairt cause I was all puffy and angry-lookin too an so he wasn't sure what to do.

Actually, I didn't know he could run that fast. I thought I was a good runner, but oh he is fast when he wants to be. I forget how big and strong he is, sometimes, cause he doesnt show off much. I run around a lot, but if he ever really chases me, I am caught for sure!

And he jumped over the deck stairs, too! An that's higher than the fence. I thought he couldn't get over it like I can, jus cause he never does, but I need to jump halfway and then a bit again. He could get over the whole thing anneytime he wants!

He's scarey-strong sometimes. It's a good thing he is so easy-like.

But maybe I won't bite his ears for a couple lights!

Thursday Thirteen

Things We Saw out the Hard Clear Things:

Front Yard:
1. Big Things walkin by with Little Big Things
2. Big Noisy Metal Things
3. Doggies, some with Big Things an some on their own
4. 2 Kitties!
5. Little Birdies in trees
6. Flowing water

Back Yard:
7. Birdies at feeders
8. Froggies on the hard clear thing
9. Mothies
10. A Possum (we watched and then we hissed)
11. The Big Thing (he snuck out without us)
12. Leaves blowin across the deck
13. Tree branches fallin on the deck
Well, we hadda bad few days with some renewal computer security softieware. It didn't work like the old stuff even tho we dint ask for changes. We couldn't read comments, we couldnt get any piciatures into a post, an we were feelin really hissy bout the whole thing. Took us 3 lights to get anything working at all right and we still dont know if we are all safey at all.

The Big Thing was havin some trouble too. He had some games that werent workin right either. He yelled a lot, but only when we were outside an could barely hear him (he's good about that). He really tried a lotta stuff and maybe the "settings" are right an maybe not. He will look at it all again later, but he knows we wanna post after 4 lights away!

The Big Thing got all busy doing something called "chess" on the internetty and we forgot to post ourselfs, watchin him do it. We arent too sure what he was doing, but he was all happy about it, so we were kinna curious.

It seems to involve moving little plastic things around a small table. It starts this way...

And we helped; several times! We mean, we DO know how how to move little things around (floor, table, countertop, deck, whatever). In fact, a cuppla time when he got tired and went away, we moved some for him. Right off the little table!

Apparently, the point of the game is to move pieces of one color offa the table. At some point, the Big Things agree one of them has won. We don't quite understand how they decide that. When we moved some of the little plastic things offa the table, The Big Thing just put them back (after politely thanking us for our help and putting us on the floor...)

So whatever he was doing, it seems to be over for a while. The little plastic things are inna box again and the little table is gone.

He says he won, but we think he is jus makin that up.

His pieces weren't pushed no further from the little table than the other color pieces were.

We pushed both colors a lot further away from the table than The Big Thing did, so we think WE won.

Gettin Outside

Some kitties mentioned on our recent Thursday Thirteen post that they wish they could go outside like us. Well, while we have read things by other kitties about bein safer inside and things from yet other kitties about the joy of being free to roam, we think we have the perfect world for us.

We did have to ask The Big Thing about it all, though. He talked to us a long time (rollseyes), but we think we unnerstand what he was getting at in his long-talky way!

It is dangerous for kitties outside. We know that. Our friend, Boo, that we found a Forever home for, got killed by a Big Thing "car" (like the one we go in to the v-e-t, but he says it is safe to be IN one). And there are germses and bitey animals and such.

It is safer to stay inside alla time. But he says we will cross the Bridge someday anyway (an he will, too), so it only slows down the time. Inside can be lotsa fun, too. We love bein inside most of the time. We have lotsa fun, The Big Thing is there with us almost alla time, and we always feel happy and safe there.

But he says there are "in-between" ways. An thats why we get to go outside "sometimes". We have The Wall. It seems to keep out a lot of "troubles" (doggies, cars, vishus deer, etc). It also keeps us from going around and finding those "troubles". Also, The Big Thing is almost always out in the area with us, so we feel safe because of that. Sometimes he is walkin round with us, sometimes he is standin up on the deck watchin over us. And when he calls us in, we (usually) come right in. We admit that on warm Summer nights, with mousies and froggies and moths all over the place, we are sometimes not to happy to come in. But even then, he will come out and encourage us inside.

So, we figure we are lucky to be inside safe most of the time, lucky to be out safe some times, and really glad for both. An we wish all kitties could have both!

I Finally Figured Out the Kitty Condo

LC: Skeeter was all gettin up on the top Kitty Condo rest places and sleepin on them, but I couldn't really figure out why. But he is a pretty laid-back kitty an likes quiet places (closets, unner the bed, on The Big Thing), so I figured that was all it was good for.

I sat in the tunnel once (an The Big Thing caught me inna piciature there) but I wasnt real thrilled after I tried it out. I mean, it is juss another place and there are so many around the cave.

Well, yesterday, I decided to do some climbin, and the kitty condo seemed like a good place. I sat on the middle rest place a while and wasn't impresed - the view is better from a table (higher up). But then I went up to the top one...

OMG! I can look down into the fishie box! I can SMELL the fishies! There is a top thing on it but there is a little hole and I can even just barely touch the water! The Big Thing says he will cover the hole if I stand on the top, so I'm bein good (for now). But maybe if I am quiet about it at night, I can reach in at play with the fishies a little.

Well, anyway, The Big Thing saw me up there loookin (obviously) an took some piciatures. I was so exited I went all FRAP (Frenetic Random Activity Period) on the top rest place. I spun around, I grabbed my tail, and grabbed at invisible stuff over the edges. It was lotsa fun!

The Big Things piciature thingey doesn't have a "FRAP" setting, so they came out all blurry, but we are posting some anyway (cause I was so happy finding out a good thing about the top of the kitty condo).

Maybe I'll be kind to The Big Thing and tell him when I'm gonna fall asleep up there. But don't count on it. ;)

I'm lookin at the fishie box. You can just see the corner of it (and that awful top that keeps me away from playin with them).

Here I am all spinnin around (and the slight fog is my tail excapin from bein caught!

More About Choosing a New Kitty

Well, we certainly have received a lot of good comments and suggestions to think about!

We appreciate the suggestions about specific kitties looking for Forever homes and The Big Thing looked into that a bit. We are worried about moving kitties around by airplanes cause sometimes they don’t do too well, so we think we should stay local. We think it would be a good idea for The Big Thing to go visit them where they are and maybe even arrange for them to visit us a day.

We dint think much about having 2 kittens all a sudden (and The Big Thing gave us his “I told you so” look – cause he did ask us about that). He dint explain the reasons for that as well as some of the other kitties and Big Things, did, though. We can understand 2 little kitties might feel happier together. We would be happy to make 1 little kitty feel all welcome and be our friend. We not sure about 2 that would just be each otherses friends. So we gotta think about that.

We have had other kitties here for many Big Moons at a time, so we aren’t worried about not getting along with friendly kitty. The Winter Kitty use to stay here long times and there was the one The Big Thing brought home who was abandoned. She stayed 4 Big Moons before he found her a Forever home and we all got along after she came out of the basement after 2 lights and darks. We could smell The Big Things smell all over her and we had no problems cause of that.

We still have questions about “breeds” of kitties. The Big Thing has read in places that different kinds of kitties have different things they like to do and ways they act. He says he members that some like to get way up on things, some want a lot of attention (and some others don’t), some get real big, some like to knock stuff offa tables and stuff, an he says some are just friendly than other kinds. We only know American Shorthairs like us, so we don’t know.

We want to give The Big Thing some ideas of the type of kitty (or kitties) we want to share our cave with. So if Meezers are a little different from Maine Coon Cats, or Burmese are different from Abyssinnians, etc, we want to know. But if that breed stuff is all a buncha mouse-droppings, then we won’t worry about it.

So if someone can help us decide onna breed of kitty (and The Big Thing reminds us to say “pet quality”) that would be a good companion for us, we would love to know more… He’ll find a nice happy friendly one (or two).

Choosing A New Kitten...

The Big Thing has decided to add a new kitty to the cave! But he doesn't know which kind he should get. He went to a couple of those "Which kind of cat should you choose" sites, but is still unsure.

He assures us he is very happy and proud of both of us, but thinks we all deserve a little more excitement around the cave. So, since we are equal residents of the cave, and there are 2 of us and only one of him, we get to decide what kind of kitty it will be!

This is a very important decision for us, so we want to ask our friends to help! We are listing some stuff about us and him that may help with suggestions.

1. We are 13 and 14 years old.
2. We get along well with other cats in the cave (we've had long-term visitors).
3. We like attention but get along fine on our own.
4. We want a kitty that talks to us and The Big Thing.
5. We are mostly indoors kitties, but have a big safe enclosed back yard we explore.
6. We want another short-haired kitty (apologies to all the beautiful poofy long-haired kitties out there).
7. We don't want a junior version of either of us (we are a male orange tabby and a female black&white).
8. The Big Thing would prefer it not be a gray tabby (out of respect for the Cats Who Have Gone Before).
9. The Big Thing is around the cave all day.
10. Playfulness and mild wrestling is good. So is mutual grooming.
11. We are not sure whether it should be male or female. We both have gotten along with both.
12. We don't want a big bully kitty.

We don't have much experience with other kitties, so help us out here, please...

Thursday Thirteen on Friday Again!

Our 13 favorite places to sleep:

1. On The Big Thing. No picture cause we are all sleepin!

2.
On the bedroom carpet out of the path The Big Thing takes when he gets up sometimes.

He never steps on us cause he is real careful, but it never hurts to be sure!

3. The Big Thing's favorite chair. Where he watches the sparkly box and I usually sleep on his lap. I was worried he was gonna take me off the warm spot I made, but he dint. I almost regret it, because he is warmer than my warm spot.

4. Curling up on the middle level of the kitty condo. I'm still about too unsure of this thing to let The Big Thing catch me up here. I sleep there at night and hop down whenever he comes out.

I sleep more soundly on the lower level cause it is closer to the floor AND I am harder to see there.

5. Here I am out in primo mousie country. I just sneak out there quietly, take a nap, and wake up when I here tiny leaf-rustling noises. Then I grab the nearest one.

6. Under the outside kitty shelter...

7.
Me in the Guest Room. The Big Thing was doing some work in the closets and left the door open a few minutes. I ran right in! An he dint make me leave either! I fell right asleep but watched him carefully every time he came by with the camera thingy.

8. On the floor of The Big Thing closet. He opened up some carpet space, and we both like to sleep in there. Safest place in the warm parts of the house!

9. On the "ottoman" in front of The Big Thing's chair (LC's version on sitting on The Big Thing)

10. Skeeter in the Guest Bedroom: Our absolute favorite spot in the guest bedroom. We don't get in that room often. The Big Thing says he will lay down a buncha old sheets so we can nap there without getting the guest spreads all covered with our fur. There is something wrong with fur? Hey, wait-a minute!

10. On the bricks in front of the fireplace. The Big Thing doesn't often light fires there, but it is great when he does. And it is a nice elevated place to sit and watch bugs. We get those bugses!

11. On the fence. LC just loves to sit on it and watch the tree rats, nasty wandering big neighbor dogsies, and mousies. She sleeps there often with her front legs draped over inside and outside...

12. In front of the hard clear thing waiting for The Big Thing to open it an let us outside. There is a comfy mat to sleep on, and that where the light shines best most of the day. It gets nice and warm!

13. My turn on The Big Thing's chair!

I like it there, too. He leaves a blanket on the chair to keep the fur off for visitors. I feel offended. But The Big Thing says some peopole get all sneezy around our fur, but he doesn't mind it. So I guess we won't bite his ankles when he is sleeping....

We'll just shed our fur around the visitors, LOL!

Lost Post

We are certain we posted only 2 days ago. It must have gotted eaten by one of those "computer bugs" The Big Thing complains about sometimes. We, of course, couldn't have made any mistakes about posting. Not that we can member what is was about, but we'll bet it was GOOD!

Oh anyway, it was all warm outside. Hurray! We followed The Big Thing outside and, for once, we didn't run right back in with him. We wandered all around the yard sniffing the new planty stuff comin up, all the new mousie holes, the fishies in the little pond, an where some nasty neighbor cats sprayed in OUR YARD! We sprayed all good over those spots, of course...

We hadda come inside a while when The Big Thing left the cave in the big noisy machine. We weren't happy about it, but that's the rule. If he has to leave watching over us, we have to be inside the cave. But we don't mind too much these lights, cause he usually comes back with food or a toy or bags or boxes or something interesting.

We dint smell or see much interesting this time (well, we did have fun inna box for a few laps).

So we got to go back out in the warmest part of the light and slept our little tailsies off while he talked to other Big Things on the computer. He left the hard clear thing open so we could come in and out as we pleased. It is more fun when he stands there and opens it and closes it and opens it and closes it when we demand, but it is also nice to just go in and out when we want cause sometimes he isn't there to open it when we want.

So, we got a surprise for dinner that we dint expect. We got the Turkey and Egg stuff that was recommended to us. Skeeter loves it. LC doesn't, but she is waiting for Skeeter to lick off all the saucy stuff to see what the meat is. LC went out again to sniff for mousies.

(We have to post this way sometimes cause it is a combined work to both post at the same time. We write together sometimes).

We have decided to make our next post a 13 of places we like to sleep. Piciuatures and all... But we are going to go curl up together on the warn softy thing and groom each other until we fall asleep...

About Shrimpsies...

We were surprised to read how many kitties had never had a shrimpsie. The Big Thing comes home from hunting sometimes with them all frozen inna bag. He says it is a good "deal" because they are all meat. Not even bones or a can or nothin. He doesn't eat them very often (they must be hard to catch even all frozen like that).

Usually, we only get a little bit of a tail, maybe once or twice each big moon. So getting a whole one each was really SPECIAL (we have been VERY good lately). They taste somewhere between fishies and froggies, but of course not exactly like either of those.

He tried to take a piciature of us eating our shrimpsie, but we each grabbed ours and ran away with it to be safe.

Thursday, March 08, 2007

Shrimpsies!

We each gotted one an The Big Thing took 3. But we got more per pound of us than he did. He'll never figure that part out...

An he will give us pieces tomorrow!

Talk about gettin us to forget about that cold fluffy stuff outside...

Flavors and Food Lovin...

Wow, some kitties get only a coupla flavors of good wet smelly food, some get only dry crunchies! We is learning a lot more than we ever spected to about how other house kitties eat!

We haf lotsa of good things.

We have the nevfer-ending dry crunchy bowl.

We have the wet smelly good food twice a light.

We get cool kitty treats (well, kind of whenefer we don't expect them). Sometimes they is tasty crunchies, sometimes soft tastey stuff, and sometimes we get a little bit of kitty crack!

And please forgive our unsmooth fur. We got called to eat rather suddenly. We were all asleep an all an didn't expect to have our piciaturs taked. Bad cases of bed-fur... We fixed it all up after we ate, but you know how that goes.

And that is even separate from when The Big Thing gives us some of his own stuff. Like ham or even shrimpsies!

We like the shrimpsies a lot,

Bigify that piciature if you dare...

but The Big Thing is kind enough not to show us begging for them. Pretty considerate of a Big Thing with a camera, we suppose!

OK. we won't bite his fingers while he is all sleepy tonight! Maybe tomorow, though, if the cold fluffy stuff dosn't go away!

Huh? Cold White Fuzzy Stuff Again?

Now this really just has to stop! That awful cold softy stuff is falling again! The Big Thing said we were done with that. We were really annoyed. As he stood staring out the hard clear thing, we both put our paws as heavily as we could on each of his paws we could reach!

He didn't even notice at first; We need to get biggified. We suppose we can make it up when he lies down in the big warm softy bed and paw on him hard. He seems more vulnerable in his middle areas.

But we is really annoyed. Effrything is all white and cold again. LC was outside when it started and The Big Thing was all at the computer, not noticing, an when he came out she was standing there with a paw up in the air to keep in warm. IN THE AIR!!!

He ran to let her inside and fussed all over her and all and even gave her a whole bunch of the treats she likes and scratched her and scratched her...

But having to hold a paw inna air to keep out of the cold fluffy stuff? That's bad.

Of course, LC wanted to go right back outside, but's that's her choice, right? I wanted to go out too, but not in that stuff, so The Big Thing put me up near his head and walked out there into the cold fluffy stuff for me. He even brushed it offa us as fast as it fell.

Sometimes we can't decide whether to bite his ankles or purr all ovver him. I suppose we will just lie on him all dark long an pin him down unner the blankies, an rest on his warmth an sleep there all dark long, an oh well...

He says he will make the cold fluffy stuff go away inna couple of days and we will all go outside an sniff around the plants growing outta the ground and stuff.

Our Food Shelf, Part 2

Wow! When we logged on today, we happened to look at our Statcounter page first. We couldn't figure out what had happened! There were SO MANY visitors. We were even worried that we had said something REALLY STOOPID.

So we read our recent posts again an didn't find anything stoopid an then read the comments an went to Max's blog when we figured out he must have said something nice about a post.

THANKS, MAX, THE PSYCHOKITTY for the shout-out! And thanks to all the kitties who visited us and left such nice comments!

We do really like our food shelf (and what kitty wouldn't?). We just hadn't realized how MANY other kitties would.

Our Food Shelf

We aren't braggin on brands. We are just used to what we are used to. But we wanted to mention our favrite flavors and show the piciatures of our favorite food shelf!

The current flavors this new 6 big moons, going across from the left side, are:

1. Beef in Gravy
2. Tuna in Sauce
3. Mixed Grill
4. Sea Captain Choice
5. Country Style Dinner
6. Tuna in Sauce
7. Ocean Whitefish

An for early light break fast, we get a 1/2 can of Chicken in Gravy

But look at all the food! That whole shelf of good wet smelly food is all ours! An the cans are 3 deep. We've got more food than The Big Thing has! Biggify it to see better.

There is all Big Thing food above our shelf and below it. But he puts it right up at his head height, an that means something! We were worried cause he got down to no cans, but he went out kittie food hunting an came back with all this! We are so happy he is so good at finding this stuff we like!

Hidey Place of Old

We've seen some little kitties talkin about hidey places. We wanted to show where we stayed when we were new and nervous:

It's a place where The Big thing built some cabinets over a air blower. So he had to cut out an opening for the air to get out. Both of us ran straight for that when we were new. It doesn't look like much, but there was lotsa room under there for us and the warm air came out in the cold time and cool air came out in the warm time an it was great. We collected toys into there, too, when it was safe to come out and grab some!

But it doesn't show how small it was, so we gotted another piciature of it to show how small. We can't it to show as we want, but if you biggify the picture, you can see the measurement stick The Big Thing uses. He says that will mean something to bodies.

Figured Out Somethin About Eating...

LC: The Big Thing watches us eat. We dont mind that cause it means he cares. But he mentioned something to us we thot was intersetin.

Skeeter loves the sauce in the cans. I like the chewy stuff.

He laps it all dry, I eat the remains.

We keep changing bowls. After Skeeter laps up all the sauce, he will eat some of the solid stuff. And not everything we get has sauce he can lap up. But we both eat the dry crunchy stuff.

The Big Thing used to think that Skeeter was just pushiung me away (well, he did used to), but he watched me sniff my bowl today and then go sit next to Skeeter while he lapped the sauce. An then when he went to my bowl, I went an ate all the good stuff. So The Big Thing realized it was my plan to get the good stuff. Yowl-ha-ha!

So we think there is SOMETHING in that idea, but we don't know exactly what.

The Big Thing says the v-e-t says our teeth are all healthy and all (well I lost one years ago but the v-e-t says that is OK). An Skeeter an I both like dry crunchies, too.

So we figure we are "com-ple-menting" each other. The Big Thing laffs an says "com-ple-ments" are good.

As long as I get my meat, my crunchy treats, an my "special" dry treats, I'm fine. Skeeter has to worry about his own self. An he is doin OK, too. Many big moons since the last v-e-t visit, an he has gained a "pound" and seems stronger again, too (oh mousie-droppings!). The Big Thing an I think it is the early light-time breakfasts. He is certainly gettin harder to knock over these days!

Name Acrostics?

Well, we hadda try this.

LC: I'll go first since it is so easy for me.

L - LUCKY
C - CAT

SKEETER: I'll have a harder time...:

S - SCARED
K - KITTY
E - ENJOYING LAPS AND
E - EVERYTHING WHEN
T - THE BIG THING
E - ENVITES ME UP WHILE
R - RELAXING

LOL! Beat that, LC...

LC: OK...

L - LOOK OUT NEXT TIME YOU ARE WATCHIN THE BIRDIES
C - CAUSE I'M GONNA POUNCE YOU SOOO UNEXPECTED!

Shopping Time!

Skeeter & LC: The Big Thing went shopping today. Not for his normal stuff or his own food, but our food! We recognized the cans as soon as he brought them in the cave. He finds such a great variety of tastes.

He's is SO clever. He buys 8 flavors of cans. One for each day of the week (by how he marks time), an one for our breakfasts. We like the chickie one a lot, so we get a half can every early light (well, whenever he wakes up). An we like tuna a LOT, so we get some of that 2 times each "week".

He stacks all the cans on the high table, arranges then so there are fishie and meat flavors on different lights. Then he stacks them onna shelf. He puts 6 big moons of food there! He says the 7 stacks of flavors are his "calender" That is how he counts those "week" things. We don't get that part much but it means something to him. He seems to use them to count the time between lights/darks and big moons.

Whatever... He likes it, we like seein them there, and we know where to look to see if he is gonna feed us. When he is in the food room and reaches to that shelfie, we dance all around him. That makes him move carefuller to get our can, some clean bowls, pick up the old bowls, etc, but we are so happy we can't help it!

We are gettin more food the past many big moons. We always have good dry crunchie stuff, but we haf been gettin some good wet smelly food in the early light a lots more often and we are thrilled wif that. Most times he even warms it up and that makes it taste like it is live stuff. AND we even get some of the special dry crunchy treats from the little bag he keeps next to the kitty crack, sometimes! Wow.

AND it is getting warmer outside again, so it is nicer to go outside...

Life is good!

I'm Annoyed...

Skeeter: The Big Thing is stayin up all dark "doin stuff" and I haven't had any lap time all light or dark! He was all happy cause he took a buncha boxes and junk to the landfill. When he was getting rid of the"unusable" stuff, some one disturbed all the big landfill birdies an they left a mess all over his noisy machine. So he spent some time cleanin it, and got all active, an I haven't had any lap time since!

I am NOT happy... I tried gettin his attnshun even down in the basement (where he wasnt even workin on a new kitty condo). He was sur-prised to see me down there and even sctratched me, but it was like I wasnt quite there, if you know what I mean.

And oh sure, he fed us, but that was long naps ago. I dont like it when he isn't "there". Its like we just vanish sometimes...I'd never bite him or anything like that, but sometimes he just confuses me all apart!

I know what's gonna happen next. He will suddenly decide to go to bed an he won't scratch me or let me unner the blankies or nothin. An I will have to curl up inna closet for a long time. An I will be all unhappy an all... It's not right.

Hmm, the sparkly box is on, I can hear the noise. He must have stopped whatever he was doing.

"Hey Skeeter, laptime"...

Oops, gotta go. Right now. Bye.
