Juleaften / Christmas Eve

Today is the day: In Denmark we celebrate Christmas today not on the 25th which means that almost every Danish family is busy preparing Christmas dinner, decorating the tree and watching Disney's Christmas cartoons today. I wanted to wish all of you a very merry Christmas with a simple Christmas card.

I went with a blue, white and kraft colour scheme to enhance my wintery Christmas greeting. I picked colours for my snowflakes and other embellishments from the patterned paper I chose.

The snowflakes are created using dies from Thinlits Die Set 4PK - Christmas Trims, Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments and Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette. It is always fun to be able to mix and match dies like that.

And with that I will wish all of you:
Glædelig jul

Set of Christmas Phrase cards

This week we have the pleasure of showing you multiple ways to use the Free Festive Paper Download to create your own Christmas cards. I often find myself drawn towards wintery colours for my Christmas crafting so these new papers are just up my alley.

I decided to create a set of three cards that are to a large degree alike but different enough for it to still be fun to create all three of them in one sitting.

I build the focus for the cards up by diecutting pieces from Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Christmas Phrase Cards. Since I used the blue striped paper for the bottom part of my focus piece, I decided to line the diecut with the words with some vellum to tone the patterned paper down a bit.

On each card I highlighted one of the words by diecutting it in a patterned paper using one of the word dies that are included in Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Christmas Phrase Cards. To give the word some added height I diecut it twice and glued the two diecuts together before I adhered them to the card.

Using a small die from Triplits Die Set 15PK - Tags I diecut silver foil ornaments to dress each card with. Because the words have different lenghts, I needed to move the ornaments around to fit them in on each card. So this also makes each card stand out from the other two.

By creating a set of cards like this, you can easily get a lot of your Christmas cards done in time to send them out to friends and family.

Birthday balloons

After some weeks of Christmas projects I thought I'd show a fairly maschuline birthday card using a combination of Triplits Die Set 10PK - Balloons and Thinlits Die Set 10PK - Phrase Cards.

I think balloons are some of the most instantly happy things - you cannot think of balloons without thinking of birthdays, parties and happy smiling faces. So hopefully the recipient of this card will smile as well.

In order to tone down the busy patterned paper under my main focus I added some vellum behind the frame. This gave me a ground to build on.

I used another of the dies from the Thinlits Die Set 10PK - Phrase Cards to add a second "happy" to my frame - you can never have too many happies afterall.

VersaMark
Embossing powder (Ranger)

---o---

Glittering ornaments

Wednesday again and time to post yet another Christmas card. This week I went with a cool colour scheme and three stylish ornaments from Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments.

I used two of the ornaments to diecut directly into the white cardstock that will go on top of everything. The diecut that is complete, I used as the third ornament for the card.

I bought some cheap glitter wrapping paper after Christmas last year with the specific intention to use it when making cards. It works so well and it is much cheaper than buying regular glitter paper. Here I've simply added the wrapping paper behind the negative spaces formed by the ornament as well as on top of the third ornament.

The Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments comes with a small die with which you can make the metallic hanger for the ornaments which I of course did. I also used thread to make the ornaments look like they hang from the top of the card. As decoration for the ornaments I used three different small diecuts from Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments and Triplits Die Set 14PK - Christmas Trees.

Glittered snowflkes and lovely ornaments

Hello Sizzix UK fans! Today I have for you 2 small Christmas inspirations. It would seem that now is even so far to Christmas, but usually we (crafters!) create Christmas cards much earlier. My today's cards are mine first Christmas cards this year!

To create a custom shape cards I used dies from Framelits Die Set 12PK - Fancy Cards set. Due to the fact that the set contains many different sizes and shapes of dies, we can create an interesting card base in various sizes and create layers on our cards or pages.

The main decoration on my cards are a large snowflakes, which I cut out using Bigz Die - Snowflakes #3. I love dies in this line, because we can cut out in thicker materials and shapes are always very impressive, both in terms of size and design. I painted my snowflakes using mint acrylic paint and then I added some glitter powder on the top.

Tremendously love the dies in Christmas ornaments and baubles shapes. To add more Christmas touches on my cards, I cut out a couple of beautiuful ornaments using new Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments. Each of the small ornaments can be further embellish or you can cut them with a variety of interesting materials. I added small dots made using 3D paint on these lovely elements.

Witajcie! Dziś mam dla Was świąteczne inspiracje.
Do stworzenia nietypowego kształtu kartek wykorzystałam wykrojniki z zestawu: Framelits Die Set 12PK - Fancy Cards.

Happy Birthday Cupcake Card By Anna

Good morning crafty friends! It's Anna here to share some ideas using Sizzix products.
I wanted to share the details on the card I created. Who doesn’t love cupcakes?

For this card I combined specific Sizzix products from the Stephanie Barnard Collection (Triplits) and Paula Pascual Collection (Thinlits).
For my card, I used a standard A2 card base. I die cutted the frame with “happy” and added the word "birthday" to complete the sentiment.

By cutting and layering 3 different patterned papers and cardstock I created a cupcake which I adhered using dimensional stickers to add deepness.
A simple card, but so cute with cupcake, polaroid frame, sequins, twine and stitching!

Per le amiche italiane! :)

Christmas Tri

Now I know what you are thinking, " Silly old Pete has spelt Tree wrong!" well, I wasn't actually trying to spell 'tree'. I have made three different cards using the new Triplits dies from Stephanie Barnard and the word 'three' in Welsh is Tri so it turns out that I knew what I was doing all along...... for once!

Triplits are wafer thin die sets representing staggering value in the sense that they are incredibly versatile and offer multiple options for those wishing to flex their creative muscles.

I'm concentrating on the Christmas Trees set which includes no less than 14 separate elements as you can see below.

Sticking with the 'three' theme I'm want to demonstrate how easy they are to use by showing the cards from start to finish in a series of three pictures, so without further ado.......

I used my PC to print my 'Merry Christmas' Greeting onto 3 separate A6 blank white cards, Next, I die-cut the base tree from corrugated card and the other elements from matt gold card which I then lightly distressed with a sanding pad.

I then assembled the tree and attached it to the base card using 3D foam pads. I also tied a length of natural twine around the base.
Add caption
For the next card I die-cut the base tree from deep red card and the other elements from patterned paper from a Hobbycraft 6 x 6 paper pad that goes by the name of 'Love Collection'. I attached these separate elements to the base tree using 3D foam pads.

I die-cut the star and attached everything to the base card again using 3D foam pads before decorating the base of the tree using a length of knotted pink ribbon tied in a bow.

For our third card I used the large tree die to cut an aperture through the front of the base card before die-cutting a smaller white tree and a selection of assorted circles from silver mirror card.

I attached a folded rectangle of turquoise card into the base card as my insert and mounted my die-cut white tree onto it through the aperture. I then decorated the tree using the silver die-cut circles and added the die-cut star.

Here are the finished cards seen all together, given time (a luxury in my line of work!) I'm sure I could have gone on to create dozens more even in this restrictive format. I love these clever little die sets and they are one of the first items on my creative Christmas list.

Last week I was in Norway, or to be more exact, the beautiful city of Oslo where I was representing Sizzix as the guests of Global Hobby who are based in Bergen (Stunning place!). They were fabulous hosts and I would like to thank Alf Christian and his team for making me feel so welcome.

While I was there I thought that I would create few cards with a Norwegian flavour using some of the wicked Papicolor card which they distribute. It folds, cuts, tears and creases so beautifully... I think I'm in love!

The first thing I made was the gift box using the Tim Holtz Pillow Box die which I decorated with torn strips of card replicating the Norwegian national flag. I  then added some die-cut floral elements from the Big Shot Starter Kit.

With the card and tag I took a slightly different approach. I used the flag motif as before but I also wanted to celebrate Norway's proud history for exploration by using a Tim Holtz Texture Fades embossing folder from the Airmail & Compass Set and a few butterfly's die-cut using the Butterfly Frenzy decorative strip die

I really love the colours and it was so much fun to do I hope you like them to?
