Oh Christmastree... oh Christmastree {Christmas Decoration}

Hello there...

this week i've been in a christmas mood.
Only a few days and it is time to let the christmas thing in...

Lets welcome it with handmade decoration...

The first thing i made this year is a christmas tree - and it is so
easy - your kids can make it too...

All you need is:
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 6PK - Hearts
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 5PK - Stars
Wire,
liquid glue
glitter, glitter, glitter

Cut out 6 hearts each size, 6 stars (the smallest one), fold them and glue
them together (there you can use normal glue).

Model the wire (i wound it around my pencil). Put it into the tree and fix
the star on.

Now run the liquid glue all over the tree and put the glitter on.

Have a wonderful weekend, Stephanie

PARTY BUNTING AND PAPER CUPS

It's my youngest sons' 4th birthday next month and so plans are being made for his party at the moment, which of course include a few crafty touches.

It was a certainty that the Lollipop Shadow Numbers die would see some use, it was just a case of deciding what to do with all of the number 4's I was planning on cutting. For a change I decided that instead of using my Big Shot to cut fabric I'd have a go with paper and card instead.

First up was some quick and easy card and paper bunting, with square flags cut using the Square, 4in Finished (4 1/2in Unfinished) die. From some thin multicoloured paper I cut a stack of spots using the Circles, 3/4in die and some 4's with the Lollipop Shadow Numbers die. I used a glue-stick to stick the 4 in the centre and then the spots around it for some extra colour and detail.

Once all of the square flags were decorated, using some upholstery thread to make the bunting a little stronger, I chain pieced them together (in a similar way to the circle garlands from a couple of months ago) using a wider than usual stitch length.

So simple but effective. The boys really like it and want to get going with a glue-stick and help me decorate more flags later this week.

As I thought about hanging the bunting behind the party table I suddenly remembered the pack of leftover paper cups that were tucked away in a kitchen cupboard that would be perfect to decorate in the same way.

Easy peasy!

I will need to buy another couple of packs of paper cups now though to have enough for all of the party guests. There will be no chance to forget how old he is!

Wreath of Snowflakes

I love to make and hang wreaths for all seasons and for this week I've created a wreath of snowflakes. It can be hung now at Christmas time but that can also stay up well into the new year because it is more wintery than Christmassy.
I needed a hoop to work as base for my wreath and I had a metal hoop in my stash that I chose to use. You could cut one out in cardstock if you wanted to create a similar wreath. Using Sizzix Bigz Die - Snowflakes #3 makes this project a breeze because you can die cut multiple snowflakes in one go. For my wreath I went with three different versions of the same snowflake: 5 in silver foil, a lot in white cardstock and a little fewer made from old book pages.
Now it was just a question of using the hot glue gun to attach the various snowflakes to the metal hoop. I started with a layer of white snowflakes, then a layer of the book page snowflakes and my final layer is a combination of white and silver snowflakes.

I wanted to make sure that my wreath had some dimension and I achieved this by adhering some of the flakes using foam adhesive but I also discovered that I could fold up the ends of some of the snowflakes and thereby get more dimension. I did this to some of the white snowflakes as well as all of the silver ones.

My final step was to tie a large white bow and adhere it using the hot glue gun. I made sure that there weren't any silver flakes under the bow. I also added some silver tread behind the bow so I'll be able to hang the wreath.

Christmas Trees for the Christmas Tree

The third week of the Christmas Challenge 2014 will be filled with ideas for ornaments you can create using Sizzix products. I've made a trio of white glittery trees that can go on the Christmas tree or (as will be the case in our home) can be hung in a window or somewhere else in your home.

I used the Triplits Die Set 14PK - Christmas Trees to create all three trees. This set lets you mix and match various dies to create your own unique trees. For all my tree I diecut the tree base in both cardstock and glitter wrapping paper and then I diecut the details in cardstock as well.

Once I had done the fronts of my three trees (adding a little red heart diecut using a die from
Thinlits Die Set 10PK - Phrase Cards) I felt that the backs of the trees needed a little TLC. I was happy to see that the details for the larger trees would work on the back as well as on the front. For the smaller trees I diecut glitter paper circles using the smaller dies that comes with the set and added them were there are holes on the front of the tree.

Now all that is left is to hang the ornaments and enjoy them throughout December - and I like knowing that no matter which way the ornaments turn they look nice.

Christmas week 3 with Lilith

This week's theme is Tree Decorations. I have made many decorations in the past and really wanted to make something different. I decided to tweak the theme a bit and I made a decoration by not for the tree. (naughty me). I also wanted the project to be quick and this one was SUPER FAST but I really love the end result. All you need is a water glass (I used a wide one), some embroidery thread and the Sizzix Let it Snow thinlits die.
http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/659921/sizzix-thinlits-die-let-it-snow
Just cut out the design, add some thread to recreate scarves for the snowmen and adhere it to your glass. Pop in a candle, light it and voilà. A pretty feature to add to your decorations or on the dinner table.

  Supplies:
Let it Snow thinlits die, embroidery thread, glass, candle, glue.

Oh and just a reminder NEVER leave candles unsupervised. They are beautiful and add lots of ambiance but can also be dangerous. Have a wonderful week.
