Colourful coasters for summer!

Hi Sizzix friends!!!

During the summer holiday it’s time to create something beautiful with our children. In this case we have decorated colourful coasters. We’ve passed a good time together trying colours and die-cutting.
Let us show you these fun coasters!

To create these coasters we have used standard cork coasters. Then we decided the colours to paint them and the dies to create girly coasters and boy coaters.

These are the materials we have used:

My Big Shot Plus, Layering daisy #2 dies, layering daisy die, splat die, die brush, cork coasters, different colours cardstock, acrylic paint, a paint brush and gel medium.

And here are the few steps to decorate them:

First we have paint in different colours one of the faces of the coasters.

Then we’ve die-cut in different colours cardstock the shapes we liked for each coasters. We’ve used the magnetic platform to die-cut with the thinlits.

We have die-cut big flowers to match the little ones.

Finally we’ve made our own combination and glued using the gel medium. We have also applied gel medium all over the top of the coasters to prevent from damaging the paper.

Here are more details images:

 This is my favourite combination!!!

And this is the favourite of  my younger son.

Now we are ready to receive our friends at home and invited them to a delicious juice using these fabulous coasters!

We have used the following Sizzix products:

I hope you have enjoyed these colourful and fun coasters. Thanks for your visit!

Have a creative and happy Friday!

Owl and Fox card

Hello everyone, It's Anna posting today.
I love looking at my dies and trying to figure out different and unique ways to use them.
If you know me then you know I love most things that are animal related but when it involves owls and foxes my interest is really peaked! :D
I created this cards for kids birthday for charity, using more Sizzix dies design by Craft Asylum. These dies are so easy to put together and when you adhere one to the card it’s adorable!
This cute little owl makes me so happy. I sure hope he makes the card recipient happy, too!
The sentiment “buon compleanno” in Italian is “happy birthday”.

l think he/she is so cute and a perfect companion for my Woodgrain background.
The card front has a hole and you can see the inside owl. I die cut a circle using Framelits to make the hole.

Per le amiche italiane! :)

Star Quilt: Part 1

Dies used: Half-Square Triangles, 4 1/2in Finished Square
                  Square, 4in Finished (4 1/2in Unfinished)

Hello again!

I've been promising to make my eldest son, Aidan a quilt for his bed for months and so a couple of weeks ago finally got around to ordering some fabric for it. He gave me clear instructions on the sort of fabric he wanted: travel and transport, strictly no animals or dinosaurs and mostly blue. It's always good to have a client with a clear brief!

The quilt design we chose is nice and simple using just 2 dies in total, with each block featuring an 8 pointed star. The simple arrangement helps to show off the printed fabrics that feature in the centre of each star.

Each block uses:

4 squares, feature print
8 half-square triangles, for points of star
8 half-square triangles, low volume for background
4 squares, low volume for background

Sewing all of the half-square triangles together and then joining the squares together to form rows before joining everything up was the most convenient method for me.

I just chopped enough fabric on my Big Shot Plus to make a block at a time, as cutting with a Big Shot is so quick and convenient it never feels like pausing to cut some more fabric interrupts the sewing rhythm at all.

Two blocks are done so far with a third nearly completed and I have checked with my client that they meet his specifications.

Aidan is trying to get me to commit to a finish date already and so with him cracking the whip there should be plenty of progress to see in next weeks post!

Flag_of_Italy Per le amiche italiane! :)

Ciao!

materiali:
Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal) (658300)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Hearts, True Affections (658923)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Doily, Classical Lace (658922)
avanzi di stoffa e feltro
twine
pennarello nero (per gli occhi)
lana (per i capelli e le braccia)
lana pom pom (per le gambe)
ovatta sintetica
makeup brush
colla a caldo

Tag porta soldini
materiali:
Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal) (658300)
Sizzix Movers & Shapers L Die - Tag & Bookplates (656938)
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 2PK - Doily, Jewel Heart (658910)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Envelope & Tag, Mini (659180)
Sizzix Texture Fades Embossing Folders 2PK - Chevron & Lattice Set (659448)
cartoncino: bianco, rosa, rosa pallido
avanzi di patterned paper e stoffa
distress ink
twine
fiore crochet
paillettes
strass

Bacchetta magica fatata
materiali:
Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal) (658300)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Doily, Classical Lace (658922)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Snowflake Medallions, 3-D (658739)
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 8PK - Circles, Scallop (657552)
cartoncino: rosa pallido e glitter rosa
patterned paper
stoffa
spiedini di legno
colla a caldo

Volete provare a fare questa bacchetta? E' facilissimo!

Quick´n´Easy: baby girl mini album cover by Janna Werner.

Hello there, this is Janna. Today I´d like to share a mini album with you, especially the cover. A lot of my friends are pregnant at the moment or just gave birth to a beautiful child. Therefore I thought I´d create a few baby mini albums in advance - you never know when you might need a small present ;) I used the new Big Shot, just love the new design (matches my craft room much better ;) ).

Material list:
657900 Big Shot or
658300 Big Shot Starter Kit
658353 Textured Impressions English Botanical
657551 Framelits Circles
white cardstock: American Crafts
patterned paper, envelopes, clip, sticker: Crate Paper
flower: Prima Marketing
spray: October Afternoon
sewing machine, binding ring

Now, let´s have a closer look at the mini album cover :)

I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the Textured Impressions English Botanical die. Then I added a few spritzers of turquoise spray to create a  playful and happy look.

Afterwards I cut a circle shape out of the cardstock, using one of the dies that come along in the Framelits Circles set. I glued a piece of patterned paper behind the white cardstock to add a title to the album. Then I bent the top edges - one to the inside, the other to the outside - to let the album cover appear softer. Instead of folding the edges sharply, I decided to roll them as this lets the cover appear more "girly". Also, the swirls in the embossing die add to the feminine look.

I added a few highlights on the inside, like tags, paper doilies and a clip. The flower and the sticker on top were attached with hot glue, just to make sure they won´t fall off.
As you can see, even a cover that was created within a few minutes can look very nice, happy and artsy. It does not always have to take hours to create a fantastic mini album.

I hope you enjoyed today´s inspiration, see you next week!
Janna

*****

Materialliste:
657900 Big Shot oder
658300 Big Shot Starter Kit
658353 Textured Impressions English Botanical
657551 Framelits Circles
weißer Cardstock: American Crafts
Patterned Paper, Umschlag, Clip, Sticker: Crate Paper
Blume: Prima Marketing
Spray: October Afternoon

Janna
