Mini book cover

Hello,

It’s been a while since I haven’t shown you a mini book! Here is the cover of one of my latest mini album, one that I taught last week-end for the Scrapediem cropping party in Lognes.

Supply list:

Papers: Crate Paper, Glitz Design, Studio Calico
Alphabets: Jenni Bowlin Studio
Rub-ons, stickers: Jenni Bowlin Studio
Die-cuts: Studio Calico
Stamps: Florilèges Design
Inks: Versafine, Distress Vintage Photo
Stickers: 7Gypsies
Others: tulle

Die:

658798 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK-Trellis & Swirls Set

This is a mini book with light and delicate tones and lots of texture. That was the program of last week-end’s workshop.

I created a little window size 6x8cm out of a thick cardboard piece. I inserted an embossed white Bristol piece inside. This embossed piece is coloured with Distress Vintage Photo ink and a piece of cut’n dry.
The ink is applied in a light manner so that to obtain a very light beige colour.

Then my cover is decorated with rub-ons and various embellishments such as brads, stickers and die-cuts.

See you next Thursday!

Karine

Bonjour,

Cela fait bien longtemps que je ne vous avez pas présenté un mini album ! Voici la couverture d'un de mes dernier album présenté le week end dernier en atelier pour la crop Scrapediem à Lognes.

Matériel :

Papiers : Crate Paper, Glitz Design, Studio Calico
Alphabets : Jenni Bowlin Studio
Rub-ons, stickers : Jenni Bowlin Studio
Die-cuts : Studio Calico
Tampons : Florilèges Design
Encre : Versafine, Distress Vintage Photo
Stickers : 7Gypsies
Divers : tulle

Die :

658798 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK-Trellis & Swirls Set

A jeudi !

Play with BIGZ die today!

Hello everyone!

I thought that Spring would be around the corner with the beautiful temperatures we had here the last couple of days but cold is back! :( So, for today's layout, I have decided to scrapbook a Winter photo with Spring product!

I added turquoise, pink, a tiny bit of yellow and GOLD (to bring on the sun!) for this spring-inviting layout!

You will need these supplies to create that layout :

First of all, tear a piece of vellum and glue it down on top of your background.

Mount your picture with a patterned paper and start layering lots of different papers : the more layers, the better!

I then layered tags and journaling cards on top of my papers.

With my Big Shot, I cut my two different BIGZ dies to add a shiny look to my page : I used gold paper for this one! It's rather thick but the thickness of the BIGZ dies makes it VERY easy to cut through thick materials.

You can then add badges, tickets, wood embellishments and such and your layout is done! :)

Take care and thanks for watching!

Make your own background!

Hello!

Embossing has been a very popular technique in my scrapbook classes over the last few years. People like that you can emboss paper and turn any piece of paper into a new one, adding texture and a 3D effect to your crafty projects.

Today, I would like to show you a 8x8 layout I made, mixing patterned paper with white cardstock that I previously embossed and inked!

But first of all, here's what you'll need for this layout :

  • Big Shot (655268)
  • Sewing and measuring Tape Embossing Folder set (657671)
  • Papers (Studio Calico)
  • Stamps (Studio Calico, Technique Tuesday)
  • Badge (October Afternoon)
  • Wood veneers (Studio Calico)
  • Alphas (American Crafts)
  • Inks (Versafine)
  • Mists (Studio Calico)
  • Cut'n'Dry foam (Ranger)

First of all, you need to cut a piece of white cardstock size 4x4". Then, insert it once inside the embossing folder and run it through your Big Shot.

As the width of the embossing folder is 4", you just have to run it through your Big Shot once.

Once your white cardstock is embossed, grab your favorite Studio Calico mists and add colors to the top embossed designs, using a cut'n'dry foam.

While you let this dry, start glueing your picture on the upper right side.

You can start stamping your background (here I used a ROAD TRIP stamp by Technique Tuesday) and create embellishments with title stamp (like the I love this life stamp by Technique Tuesday).

Once your embossed paper is dry, glue it at the top of the paper, near your photo.

Use your sewing machine and sew all around the edges.

Add your title, wood veneer embellishments, badge and label and you're good!

I am loving this size more and more so you might see more of these layouts in the near future! :D

Have a great day!

Keep laughing! Layout

Hello everyone!

How are you doing today?!

Here I am with a brand new layout full of wintery colors again! I told you I've been inspired by these color combos lately!

Today, I would like to show you this layout on which I played with two different Sizzix dies, and show you that these dies can be used such as pure embellishments, and bring extra contrasts and texture to your layout!

First of all, this is what you'll need to create this layout :

Choose the paper you want as a background. Add some mists here and there.

Then cut two strips off of two different patterned papers and glue those two at the top and at the bottom of your background.

Cut your Card Decorative insert die into a double-sided patterned paper : glue the frame and add the inside after turning it upside down - you'll get a full frame with two different designs!

Do the same with the Frame Fancy die and mount it with 3D foam tabs.

Add some embellishments here and there, still sticking to the same color combo.

Hope you liked it!
Take care

Waiting for Albane layout

Hello everyone!

Here I am with a new layout to inspire you to create with your favorite cutting machine! :)

For this new layouts, I used very Wintery themed products as I've been in the modd for some blues and reds lately!

Here's what you'll need :

First of all, cut a piece of patterned size 10x10" - that one will be glued in the center of your 12x12 background paper, and matted with white cardstock.

Cut a strip of patterned paper (the red one) to create your Winter Rosette - you will need your extended specer plateform and your 12" cutting pads to cut with the Decorative Strip die.

Place a sticker and a badge in the middle of the Rosette (and mount it with 3D foam tab).

Then cut a nice lace doily into a patterned paper and place it under your paper rosette.

Add your photo and a couple of embellishments here and there and you're good!

Make your die-cut embellishments, like your lace doily and your paper rosette, be the center piece of your layout by placing them right in the center and in the middle - your eyes will see them at first, along with the photo!

Thanks for watching!
Have a gorgeous day!

Altering a travel journal

Hello! HAPPY NEW YEAAAAAAAAR! May 2013 bring you happiness, inspiration, creativity, lots of Sizzix goodies and more! :)

Back in November, I went to teach scrapbook classes in New Caledonia, a little French island near Australia and New Zealand - it was FANTASTIC! Girls played with Big Shots, Bigz dies, Sizzlits, inks, embossing folders and more! :)

I had so much fun that I took hundreds and hundreds of photos - which now found a new home into this album!

New Caledonia is paradise - white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, wild forests and more. I wanted to use the same color palette.

Here's what you'll need to create such a cover for a mini album or album.

First of all, you'll need o cover your entire album with gesso. Add at least two layers so that you can work on a very smooth and white surface.

Then, add some water (with a brush or with a spray if you have one).

Mist some of your favorite Mists onto your cover - here I used Studio Calico Audrey, Doris and Gold to create this fun effect.

Be sure to add lots of water afterwards in order to mix the colors together.

Grab your album and make it stand - you'll get those fun dripping marks on the cover!

Finish the painting with tony dots here and there with black ink.

Once your background is dry, cut a pice of vellum with the Scallop Circle Sizzlits Die and glue it on your cover.

Then, cut into a patterned paper to create a cute paper rosette using the Paper Rosette die and the appropriate items (listed above).

Fold and glue in the center of the Scallop Circle.

Embellish with whatever items you want :)

I created another page using the Paper Rosette (probably my #1 die of all time!).

Do you make a lot of mini albums or albums like Project Life?

Have a gorgeous day!

Stamp & Cut = be precise all the way!

Hello everyone!

Have you ever played with Sizzix Framelits sets combined with their sets of stamps? Oh my! This is genius!

Imagine a stamp. Now imagine that this stamp goes with its own die in order to cut perfectly around that stamp. Got the idea?!

I love those as they allow me to not worry about wasting my time cutting around each stamp I want to use!

These are the ones I used on this week's layout.
For this layout, you'll need :

For this layout, simply cut 4 different rectangles (they aren't perfectly cut in the center of my page, as it is hidden by the paper in the middle).

Sew around the edges before glueing your center piece.

Add your picture and embellish as you like!

Prepare your stamped images and cut them through, using your Big Shot.

The Die perfectly cuts around each of my stamped design! Isn't it fun! :)

Isn't it fun?
I'll show you more of those awesome stamps next week! Promise!

Embossing makes me happy!

Hello everyone!

Christmas is just around the corner and I've ONLY got started on my December Daily album! Before I can even show you pages using my favorite Christmas products in my album, I wanted to share this layout with you :)

My friends Angie and Gilles are expecting a baby (boy or girl, we don't even know!) or December 25 and we did a photo shoot back in September, it was so much fun! Now I just can't stop scrapping their photos, they are just beautiful :)

To make this layout, you'll need :

First of all, you need to cut a piece of white cardstock 8"x6". Then, insert it once inside the embossing folder and run it through your Big Shot.
Insert it a second time inside your embossing folder, making sure the designs overlap each other and match.
run it through your Big Shot but be sure that it doesn't crush over your first designs.

Once your white cardstock is embossed, grab your favorite Distress ink and add colors to the top embossed designs, leaving the inner part white.

Add some dots of mists here and there to add more color.

Let it dry.

then add your photo, embellishments and title! :)

Doesn't it look great?

Feel free to share what this layout inspired you! :)

Take care!

Tag & circle fun!

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to show you a fun and textured layout, made with simple dies that you can use in very different ways.

This is what you'll need to create this layout :

First of all, round the edges of your first patterned paper and glue it on your black cardstock.

Cut a 5x12" piece of paper into a second patterned paper and glue it on your background.

Then, the fun begins! :D

Grab a piece of white cardstock and play with Distress inks. Simply rub one color on a piece of plastic, or a craft sheet if you have one, spray water on top and then dip your piece of paper into the ink. Dry with your heat gun and repeat the previous step several time until you are satisfied with the way your background looks.

Dry the paper with your heat gun.

Then run it through your Big Shot, using the Tag L Die. You can also stamp on it to add more visuals elements.

I then cut my three pictures with the Framelits Circles and added a metal circle around each photo.

To finish, I created my own embellishments with both the Framelits Circles and the Framelits Scallop Circles.

Mix them all together and you get a fun layout!
Take care!

Be a STAR!

Hello everyone!

How are you today? Today, I'd like to show you a fun, simple and quick layout to make using Framelits as masks!

First of all, this is what you'll need to make this layout :

  • a Big Shot (655268)
  • Framelits STARS (657567)
  • Papers (Hambly, Pink Paislee)
  • Rubons (Hambly)
  • Mists (Studio Calico)
  • Chipboards (Pink Paislee)
  • Alphas (Pink Paislee)

I wanted to repeat the design of the star shown on my picture, using my STAR Framelits as masks!

Simply cut a 6x6 piece of white card stock and cut the biggest star of the Framelit STAR set and place it in the middle of the paper.

Place your 6x6 "handmade" mask on your background, secure it in place with masking tape so that it doesn't move, and spray your favorite spray ink on top of it : TA DA! You'll get those lovely stars on your background!

Feel free to outline the stars with a white opaque pencil to create contrast!

Have a splendid day!

Altered book by Karine

Hi everyone!

Let’s start the month with a mini-album in the manner of an altered book. That’s an album that I teach in my classes (and I will be teaching it in Liege in Belgium next week-end by the way).

Here are the dies I used to embellish my mini-album:

-657708 Flower Garden with Scallops
-657811 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Bohemian Lace Set
-657188 Tiny Tabs and Tags

I really like using the border die in my mini albums. It brings fineness and femininity, especially in this ink-based album.
I cut the shape out of a patterned paper then glued it with double-sided tape. I used masking tape to hide the unwanted tape marks.

The Tim Holtz die is one of my favourite dies to use in mini albums! It allows me to create small accents: tags, and eyelets that match with my kit! I love it, and it is definitely a classic!

I always work on the cover of my mini album at the end of my creation process. Here I created an opening in which I inserted a white Bristol sheet that is embossed with nice patterns. I applied Adirondack and Distress inks on it to make it stand out.

Here are some pictures of my album with some of the dies I used. You won’t see the full album as it is still a surprise for those who will attend the classes.

Have a nice day,

Karine

Supply list:

Paperback book
Papers: Sultane
Alphabets: October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin
Stickers: Jenni Bowlin
Stamps: Craft Origine
Spray inks: Tattered Angels
Black Versafine ink
Others: tags, flowers

-657708 Flower Garden with Scallops
-657811 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Bohemian Lace Set
-657188 Tiny Tabs and Tags

Karine

Tone-on-tone scrapbooking : make your projects look unique!

Hello!

I've been loving working with tone-on-tone for a long time now : when you cut some designs with your Big Shot into a cardstock and glue that die-cut onto the same kind of paper, you get that tone-on-tone look...somekind of simple but yet so pretty look.

For this layout, I used several cardstocks and work with both stars and circles Framelits dies to create this fun look!

Here's what you'll need to create the same project :

  • a Big Shot (655268)
  • Framelits : Stars (657567) and Circles (657551)
  • cardstock (Bazzil, Kesiart)
  • Overlay (Hambly)
  • Stickers (Crate Paper, October Afternoon)
  • Chipboards (Sassafras)
  • Flower (Sassafras)
  • Papers (Sassafras)

First of all, cut 4 rectangles, size 4x6", into 4 different papers : here, 3 different cardstock (blue, yellow and grey) and one patterned paper (mounted on pink cardstock).

The yellow card has tone-on-tone stars stapled on the background, using the Stars Framelits die set.

The grey one has circles the same color as the background, all sanded to get these fun edges. I used the Circle Framelits die set.

I simply misted some blue spray ink on top of the blue cardstock : some more tone-on-tone look, achieved in a different way that glueing cardstock.

As for the pink card, I added patterned paper to add some interest to the page, and the transparent butterfly acts as tone-on-tone as we see through it.

Don't forget to add color-like embellishments on each card!

Would love to see your amazing creations too!

Take care!
Céline
