Home Decor – New Year’s Wreath

Happy Friday everyone,
I hope you spent a happy Christmas and received many gifts.
Today in Italy we celebrate St. Stephen, but I have already carried out a decoration for New Year!
Well, it's almost here, a new year, and what better way to start the celebration than with this wreath.

I made this small wreath to hang on a door using the Sizzix Bigz L Die - Wreath, Banner, Holly & Poinsettia (659997).
It was created using white and gold with just a tiny touch of red.
In the middle I added a word that is full of sparkle and reads the greeting of New Year. I used the Sizzix Originals Die - Phrase, Hello #2 (659956).

Watch how it is How To Make a Wreath, with step by step instructions, in my video:

In no time at all you will have a decoration ready to hang.
Do you do any special decorating for New Year’s?
Thanks for stopping by and I wish each of you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Anna

Per le amiche italiane! :)
Buon venerdì a tutti,

Advent Calendar part

This is my first ever blog post for Sizzix, it's about an advent calendar project and I'm a bit worried that posting a Christmas-related project in October is a risky move, I know it's still a long way off so please keep reading! The head start is only to ensure that there's plenty of calm making time before the hectic Christmas season with all of its other commitments starts up in a month or two.

The first stage is the background that the pockets will be sewn onto.
I used the Half-Square Triangles, 4 1/2in Finished Square die to cut 48 white triangles (approximately half a yard) and 48 red printed ones to arrange in diagonal stripes to look like candy-cane stripes.
I used a selection of 6 red printed fabrics, 8 of each different print works out perfectly (approximately a third of a fat quarter for each print) but I just chopped away with my Big Shot as the mood took me (it's easy to carried away) so have more of some than others. Also, a fabric that has a print with a clear 'right way up' like the deer one can't be folded over for cutting but needs to be laid the right way up on the die with the diagonal line dividing the triangles on the die running in the same direction as the pieced stripes will. Otherwise some of the triangles will be cut the wrong way round (I *might* have some leftover wrong-way-round triangles lurking on my cutting table).

Next each red triangle was sewn to a white one, pressed and then laid out in a 6 squares by 8 squares rectangle.
After much tinkering with the layout they were finally sewn into 2 x 2 blocks and then into rows before being joined fully (finished size approximately 24" x 32").
It was so quick to make and I'm so pleased with the result that I think a festive cushion in the same candy stripe pattern may have to be added to my to-do list for later.

Next up is the Square, 4in Finished die and Lollipop Shadow Numbers to make the pockets - which I'll post about next time.

The subtle look of honeycomb and butterflies - by Janna Werner.

Hello everyone, this is Janna. Today I would like to share two cards. Actually, it did not take very long to create them, so this is another great last minute idea (recently I have tons of them ;) ).
Here´s the first card..

Material list:
657900 Big Shot or
658300 Big Shot Starter Kit
657846 Sizzix Texture Fades Honeycomb
card base: Tchibo
patterned paper, sticker: Crate Paper
twine, vellum, petals, doilies: Stampin´Up
glitter: American Crafts
spray: October Afternoon
other: sewing machine

I cut the banners by hand, but Sizzix offers lots of great banner dies as well. I used the embossing folder only on the middle part of the paper, otherwise the pattern would have been too massive.
And here comes the second card..

Material list:
657900 Big Shot or
658300 Big Shot Starter Kit (the butterfly die is included in the kit)
card base: Tchibo
patterned paper, vellum bag, clip, frame: Crate Paper
twine: Garn und Mehr
pearls, cardstock: Stampin´Up
other: liquid pearls (Ranger Ink), sewing machine

The butterfly die from the Big Shot Starter Kit is one of my favorite dies right now - I love the clean and friendly design which fits any project. I wrapped the twine around the clothespin and afterwards, around the card. If wanting to open the card, you’d have to unwrap it first, just like a present. As the twine is attached to the clothespin, it won’t get lost upon opening the card.

I hope you liked today´s inspiration, please browse my Sizzix gallery for more fun projects and tutorials.

See you next thursday!
Janna

*****

Materialliste:
657900 Big Shot oder
658300 Big Shot Starter Kit
657846 Sizzix Texture Fades Honeycomb
Kartenrohling: Tchibo
Patterned Paper, Sticker: Crate Paper
Twine, Vellum, Blüten, Doilies: Stampin´Up
Glitter: American Crafts
Spray: October Afternoon

Materialliste:
657900 Big Shot oder
658300 Big Shot Starter Kit (Schmetterling Die ist im Kit enthalten)
Kartenrohling: Tchibo
Patterned Paper, Vellumbeutel, Clip, Rahmen: Crate Paper
Twine: Garn und Mehr
Perlen, Cardstock: Stampin´Up

Janna
