Christmas Birdhouse

Happy Friday everyone, It's Anna with a new Sizzix project.
Today I wanted to show you a quick and easy Christmas ornament!
I've been wanting to try to make this cute birdhouse and yesterday I finally set down to just do that. I wanted something simple enough, but cute.
I made the ornament using the Sizzix Thinlits Plus Die Set 5PK - Box, Birdhouse (660872) and some dies for decoration.
Have you seen the Love Birds collection? The dies are a great size for Papercraft, also A4 size for Big Shot Plus.

Begin by cut out the birdhouse from gitter cardstock and patterned paper using the Big Shot Plus machine and the die Box, Birdhouse. This die set includes a birdhouse box with roof, a small heart and a sweet bird.

In the front cut out the small heart to make the opening. Insert the twine in the middle of roof.
Fold along score lines to assemble.
Create a small hole below the opening in the front of the Birdhouse and adhere a small stick in the hole as a perch.
Embellish with a small red bird, twigs, “love” banner, small bell and ribbon bow.

Buon lavoro!

Watercolor textured backgrounds

Hello, welcome to a new week! It's Anna posting today.
Experimentation is one of the best aspects of paper crafting. There are more techniques to make an Embossed Background using Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Now that Sizzix have created the new Folders Plus, you increase possibilities and techniques, saving time!
Today’s tutorial shows how to combine a Plus embossing folder and inks spray for create “watercolor” textured backgrounds.
These are my cards:

Read on to discover this papercraft technique: how to make embossing watercolor cards (one of methods).

Spray different colours liberally onto your craft sheet (cling film).
Spray several times the water over the ink.
Press the cardstock (A4 sheet) into the ink.
Let a few drops of spray ink.
Make sure to fully dry your cardstock (with a heat tool, if you want).
The size of A4 cardstock is enough to cut 4 backgrounds for your cards and all of them are different! All that’s left is for you to use your watercolor backgrounds on your creations!

For my finished cards I used flower, twig and butterfly that I have cut out from cardstocks and patterned paper to embellish. To create flower and twig I used the dies of new great collection My Kind of Happy by Debi Potter.
The great thing about “watercolor” cards this way is that it will look different every time you do it. You can experiment with different colour combinations to see what sort of looks you can create.
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today. Have a great week end, see you next Friday!

Per le amiche italiane! :)

Benvenuti!

Per creare fiori e ramoscello ho usato le nuove favolose fustelle della collezione My Kind of Happy by Debi Potter.

Buon week end, ci vediamo venerdì prossimo!

star shaped treasure box tutorial

Hi there,

i hope you are celebrating a wonderful great easter with your family.

If you need a little break between egg hunting, family cake parties and easter dinner
i have a little tutorial for you...

I made a little star shaped treasure box for you...

First i made four stars using the second largest die of the Sizzix Framelits Die Set Stars (#657567).
One side of a ray measures 3cm - this measure we need later.

Than i embossed one of the stars with dots using the Sizzix Textured Impressions
Embossing Folders Houndstooth & Stars Set (#659745)

Than i added watercolor...

During the watercolor dries i built the box.

I cut a strip of paper, 31 cm long
(5 rays with two sides - each 3 cm - makes 30 cm... + 1 cm for fixing)
and 5 cm wide (left and right 1 cm for fixing).

Every 3 cm i fold the paper strip...and i clip small triangles for making the fixing straps.

Than i glued one of the remaining stars to the strip.

Then i used the third largest die and the third star for building a framed star..
I laid it on the box and marked the overlaping paper.
Then i cropped it and fixed the framed star.

I fold the fourth star and glued two rays on to the box.
Now the other three rays are the lid.
I fixed a small magnet for closing the lid.

The box is finished.

Decorating time!!!! Remember the first embossed star...
I decorated it with Stamps and leaves and fixed it on the front of the box.

Ready....

Sizzix Big Shot Plus Machine (#660020)

Sizzix Bigz Die - Garden Greens (#659436)

Happy crafting

Sizzix Big Shot Plus Machine (#660020)
Sizzix Framelits Die Set Stars (#657567)
Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Houndstooth & Dots Set (#659745)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Garden Greens (#659436)
Cardstock in weiß

Blätter, Stempel... was ihr mögt.

Fertig....

Ich wünsche euch viel Spaß beim Nachmachen...

Liebste Grüße
Stephanie

Handstitched Butterfly Card with DIY Tutorial

Hey everybody,
today I want to show you a quick and easy idea for a cute stitched butterfly. You can use it for some pretty cards, your Scrapbooking Layouts or some boxes. So here is the complete list of supplies I´ve used:

Pattern Paper, White Cardstock, Yarn and a Needle, Bakers Twine in your favorite color

The Thinlits are perfect for an additional hand stitching because you already have prepared holes as result of the Die Cutting process. I love it and there are so many possibilities to make some beautiful projects with it. But first of all, let´s make this cute card to say hello to someone special. :)

1. Place your Thinlits on the Pattern Paper and your Cardstock. 2. Let your Big Shot make some awesome work! :) 3. Take your Die Cuts from your Cutting Pads. 4. You can start stitching with your Needle and Bakers Twine or Yarn.

5. When your are finished take a scissor and cut off the ends of the Bakers Twine and glue the ends to the backside. 6. Bring your butterfly with some adhesive into shape.

That´s it! :) Now you have a beautiful handstitched butterfly. I like the dimension it gets with the stitched details.

I wish you a lot of fun making this quick DIY project, hope you like it. :)

Have a nice day, xo Julia

--------------------------------------------------------------

Also lasst uns loslegen:

Habt einen schönen Tag, xo Julia

A Gear necklace made with mountboard

This week I have been inspired by the Prima dies that just been released this month.
I love Gears, I do think they are great as less feminine flowers, a perfect add on to cards and layouts, but the also make lovely jewelry.

I made a similar one using the old Tim Holtz gear dies a few years a go. But as it is made out of mount board - or passepartout as it is called in some areas, the stuff used to mount art piece on frames - it tends to age fast if worn a lot.

So I decided to make a new version using the new Prima die Sizzix Bigz Die - Love Gears 659709.

I die cut several gears out of mount board. At the end I only used two designs out of the four included on the die. I attached them together with strong wet glue and I let them dry completely.

Then I used Liquid Leaf which is a high shine metallic medium and painted all over it. To distress it a bit, I added some other metallic tints using a wax from the same manufacturer.

Finally I added a chain using a jump ring and the own circle hole of each gear to unite it.

It is an statement piece, but I think it is perfect as they are all the rage now!
