We're a small design team with big inspiration.

On the first Sunday of the month, at 6pm UK time, we will set a new challenge which will close on the 28th of that month at midday. The DT will pick their top three favourites and you could win a prize and join us as a Guest Designer. Winners are posted on the first Sunday in the month (midday usually) before the new challenge - don't forget to come and check if you are a winner.

Challenge 12 2012 - Up Up and Away (or the Sky's the Limit).

Another Quirky Cazzy challenge for you and I hope you will love this one.

The challenge is Up Up and Away (or The Sky's the Limit), and your make must feature something you would see in the sky, simple really. So what can you see in the sky? Balloons, kites, birds, planes, clouds, rain, rainbow, umbrellas, etc, well there is a lot to get you thinking!

Our generous sponsor this time round is the Cutting Cafe who sell not only digital images but cutting files too. The images come on PDF sheets and you buy them in sets and you get a lot of images and sentiments for your money.

The Cutting Cafe provided the team with two sets, Up Up in the Sky and Rain Rain go Away, and here are some examples from the team using those sets.

First our Guest Designer Bev G who stepped in to help us out at short notice, thanks Bev.

Bev added stamped swirls and dry embossing for a lovely effect on her cheerful hot air balloon card.
Caro:
I chose to make two ATCs on a patriotic theme using sentiments and images from the 'Up, Up and Away' set from our sponsor. The backgrounds for the ATCs were made by sponging distress inks through a template that I made (more details on my blog), and then I added the crown shaped corner peel offs, and the For Britain label (generated on my computer). The images were coloured with Promarkers.

I decided to use a digi stamp from the up up and away set. I had so many ideas in my head for this that I ended up starting the card 4 times.....but my MoJo deserted me along the way. I decided in the end to go with the really brightly coloured card I made using the Birthday Balloons Image. Printed onto a blue background and coloured in lots of brightly coloured promarkers I thought this would be nice for any youngster.
Lyn
I've gone for 'Rain' (seeing the lovely sun has gone!) and used my own Digi, Henry In The Rain a long with two images from our lovely sponsors 'These Boots were made for Splashing!' and The 'Happy Birthday Balloons' which I've placed inside the card!Cazzy

I used the ready coloured kites in the Up Up in the Sky set, mainly due to time constraints. I used Microsoft Snipping tool to capture the images and copy them into Serif Page Plus to make a scene, then I printed just the kites and cut them out to decoupage a little. I added a wavy greeting from the set and cut out a Lets Go Fly a Kite to finish it off.

Now lets see what you can do, we love you to play along! Please come back and check if you have won in two weeks time. Please note: if you are a winner and don't contact us within 14 days of the announcement we reserve the right to reallocate the prize to the second prize winner, and so on (if nobody contacts us then there will be no prize allocated).

Please add a link to your blog post (not your blog) using the biggest blue froggy at the top of the collection, the other one (at the bottom) doesn't do anything that we can tell, and please comment after you have linked.Don't forget to mention Quirky and add a link back to here (please read the rules and if you realised you haven't followed the rules and won't be included in the top three, and you want your entry removed to try again - please email us using the link in the side bar).

Have Fun - The Quirky Crafts Challenge Design Team.
