Challenge #13 Reminder - Some Quirky Stencils and/or Masks/masking!

It's reminder time and Gemma wants to see projects with stencils or masks used, or feature a mask, or masked character.

You have until Saturday 5th July midday to join in the fun and maybe win a prize!

Here is a reminder of our three great sponsors and prizes this time.

Our First Prize is sponsored by Paper Pretties
Paper Pretties
the winner will receive six images of your choice

Second prize is sponsored by Limited Runs
Limited Runs
with 3 images of your choice
and the
Third prize is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish

Robyn's Fetish
with 1 digi image of your choice!

Now for some more inspiration from the team.

First up is Cindy, you may remember that Cindy was one of our 8 challenge team members who kindly agreed to carry on for a second term to cover team illness - well when we heard that our wonderful Doris was leaving us (only two challenges later) we asked Cindy if she would like to join the team - and she agreed! She is so keen that she has joined in the reminder for this challenge although she officially starts with the next challenge!

I had fun using Clover by Paper Pretties for this challenge.  Such a cute pup!  I coloured him with watercolour crayons and a water brush, then accented him with metallic pens.  My blog will have more info.

Did I have fun with this project!  It fought me, but in the end I won!  This is an 8x10 Multi Media page with layers of stencils and hand decorated paper.  Also using the Clover image from Paper Pretties. Visit my blog for more details...

MONICA

For this reminder I used the cute "Garner" provided by our sponsor Paper Pretties.
For the brick circle background a used the "reverse mask" technique that I learned from a Jennifer McGuire tutorial that I found here and a brick circle mask that I cut with my Cameo.
Garner was colored with Spectrum Noir pens.

This is my creation for the reminder.  I've used a digi from Limited Runs. I printed out three images, coloured  one with Promarkers, cut out one of the others and used it as a 'mask' over the first digi so I could spray it with Cosmic Shimmers and not get any of the paint on the digi you can see. I've cheated again with the stencil (you don't have to have both on your creations) and used a stencil freebie font called GASMASK.

Inside I've added the digi I used as the mask, and as you can see she's splattered with blood! I mean, Cosmic Shimmer!

I'm late, I have a really good excuse and if you want to know why I will explain on my blog!
I really enjoyed playing with my new spritzer to create an air brushed effect last week, and decided to do it again! I am not great at it, but it sort of worked! So I used Grafitti from Paper Pretties cut another one to mask the first one and then used a stencil by Creative Expressions of a scene with clouds, sun and roof tops. I sprayed the sky in various shades of blue and then with the first stencil and mask still in place I used a Prima stencil to create air-brushed rain drops - you need sun and rain to create a rainbow! I removed the stencils and mask and coloured the image with Promarkers, cut and matted it and added one of the sentiments that comes with it and a bit of ribbon.

Hi Quirky Guys! Lyn here. For those of you who would like to know who won the last challenge click HERE or scroll down to the  post below. Are you ready for another Quirky Challenge? It's Gemma's turn to set the theme, but she's having a bit of time out, so I'm here telling you all about it! It's simple! We would love to see your crafty creations using a Stencil or Stencils to create maybe your background, or the main picture or anything you like using any crafting medium you like and/or a Mask! Make a mask! Use a stamped image or a digi wearing a mask, use some backing paper with masks on it,  or do a bit of masking, it's completely up to you. We have some fabulous sponsors for this challenge with some fantastic prizes!

Sadly we are saying goodbye to Doris, she has decided that it is time to go. We will miss her lots and her wonderful projects and challenges. Good luck in the future Doris, and we hope to see you entering our challenges and keeping in touch!

Here's some inspiration from our Guest Designers:

Susanne used Alexandree from Limited Runs on her great tag and...

....Cooper Bathtime from Paper Pretties with a fabulous splash and bubble background and Susanne said "I created a bookmark and a page for a mini album. I used stencils from The Crafters Workshop and also one of Tim Holtz."

Fliss features Hannah from Limited Runs and said "I’ve used a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Stencil For Art called Never Enough Hearts with Distress inks round the corners of my background paper which I made with an ink applicator and Distress inks."
and Graffitti from Paper Pretties, Fliss said "I used a homemade rainbow stencil and used Distress inks. It was inspired by the sentiment which came with the set."

And from our Design Team....

I used Emily with Huggle from Limited Runs. I coloured her with Promarkers, masked her and airbrushed the background with a Memory Box stencil also with Promarkers. I will have another card to show you soon using a Paper Pretties image. The sentiment is by Penny Black, how do you wrap a hug?

For my card, I made a stencil with regular acetate cut with my Cameo. I used the Studio software settings to cut "stencil silhouette brand" and it works fine with regular acetate. Then I made a background with two coats of Twinkling H2O´s -I used mediterranean and teal zircon colors- and a final coat with Guesso.

This is a closer look of the background and the lovely "Nadia" provided by our sponsor Limited Runs. I colored Nadia with Spectrum Noir and add a 3d touch with pattern paper in her body.

Lyn

Here's my make, I've used Super Cooper from Paper Pretties (for my mask) and, a bit of a cheat...for my stencil, I've used 'Top Secret' freebie font  which looks like a stencil!

Inside there's a little place to add some birthday money and I've added  circle to add some birthday wishes.
That's it! Looking forward to seeing all your creations!

Come with me to see what our Guest Designer and DT has for us this week

GUEST DESIGNERS

I love this image, again I wanted to create a dreamy scene.  I printed the Sleeping Faery Dreama and Cloud digis on to acetate and coloured with markers.  I also used sparkle on the wings, glitter glue to write the Faery Tales sentiment and gems on the dress.

DESIGN TEAM

will be along later...

MONICA
For my card I used the "Sleeping Faerie Dreama" digi provided by our sponsor. For the upper part of the car, I made a sun, mixing different pattern papers and added some clouds. For the down part, I continue mixing pattern papers, to set the fairy and finally added the sentiment "Live in the sunshine". To color my fairy I used Spectrum Noir pens.

KAREN
This is Karen's last challenge with us, and we would like to thank her for being on the team and making some lovely examples.

I chose Sleeping Fairy Dreama as my final fairy image!  She has been spreading her fairy dust all night and she is taking a well-deserved nap in the warm sunshine, under the Happy Sun.   These digital images are from our wonderful sponsor, Crackerbox Palace!  The sentiment was printed using the free font, The Blue Cabin.  The images were colored with Copics and for Dreama's  wings I used G00 and covered them with Crystal Stickles.  I used Sun, Sentiment, and Sparkles from the Fairy Ring to complete my card.  Thanks again for allowing me to be your Guest Designer!

I used Fairy Constance, and Stars, and the stars have Flitter Flakes on them for sparkle. Then the sentiment which is by Cherry Pie and seemed to be the perfect one to use! The background is starry card matted on holographic silver for more sparkle!

To reminder today, I used this pretty fairy: Fayette, which I painted using Spectrum Noir. As elements of the recipe I used the sun, the sentiment, the sparkles and of course the fairy. I want to say this is my last proposal as DT here at Quirky Crafts Challenge and I am very grateful for the time that this was my weekend house.

Challenge #12 - It is a Quirky Fairy World (Recipe challenge)

Hello, here I am again (Doris) and  It is time for dream and believe!. How or where is you Fairy World? It is maybe on clouds up in the heavens, which roads are rainbows, as well as the bridge down to Earth? We invite you to leave the real world and invent you own Fairy World. Build up your own enchanted world, using at least three one or more of the following items from the fairy ring (and a fairy of course). We want to know your dreams!

And, for your inspiration

Let me tell you about the prizes. Our great sponsor:

1st Prize is 4 digital images of your choice Crackerbox Palace
2nd Prize is 3 digital images of your choice from Crackerbox Palace
3rd Prize is 2 digital images of your choice from Crackerbox Palace

You can just choose from the rubber stamps and they will be made into digital images for you.

In addition to the prizes - every person who enters can have 10% off anything from the Crackerbox Palace website, just contact Cazzy via the email link in the sidebar, or comment to say you would like 10% off. You can have any stamp as a digital image for $3 each less 10% of course.

The team were generously provided with lovely images from our sponsor:

Now I want to introduce you our amazing Guest Designers

Janet made a gorgeous page, and as well as the fairy (Fairy Constance) she used gemstones (counts as sparkles), a sun, clouds, glitter (sparkles) and a sentiment.

Angela used a fairy (Sleeping Fairy Dreama), and has the sun and cloud birds and sparkling glitter on her stars!

The fairy laying down (Sleeping Fairy Dreama) immediately shouted reflection to me, so this is my first card using a sentiment, Cloud digi and sparkle/gem flowers.

I wanted my second card to be more fun as this fairy (Fayette) looks full of mischief, so I have used a concertina pop-out with the stars digi, stamped the sentiment and added sparkle to the wings and stars

And we want to share with you, the beautiful Design Team creations

will be along later...
Yes, I know....I'm late again. Can't help it! (added here on Tuesday) It's getting harder and harder to actually get into my craft room, I'm scared I might get lost and nobody will find me! I've made a scene using four of the images from our sponsor, plus the castle, which isn't really a stamp, but I liked it so....that's why it's there!  I've also added silver gel, micro glitter, gems and some tiny flowers. The papers are by Summer Driggs.

For my project, I chose to make a non traditional fairy card, using Fairy Constance and just 3 colors: black, white and red.
I added a whimsical sun, gemstones (sparkles) and a fairy sentiment "Believe" cause I do believe in fairies :o)

KAREN
I chose my favorite fairy and fairy verse stamp from Crackerbox Palace.  I've had them both for quite awhile.  I colored Fairy Aurora with a Wand using Copics and attached her on a piece of purple leathery paper I bought eons ago from Provocraft.  Both the purple paper and the blue are shimmery to begin with but I thought a little bit fairy dust was needed so I covered the purple paper under Aurora with Distress Glitter. Aurora loves her happy dust!  Visit my site to check out the awesome Hello Happy Dust verse inside!

CAZZY
Nice challenge Doris, thank you! I decided to make a scene using Sleeping Fairy Dreama, sleeping peacefully under a summer sky with Clouds and Happy Sun (like her gold bling eyeshadow?) I have my fairy, sun, clouds and a two sentiments, as well as lots of glitter on the wings, clouds, sun and purple glitter card so lots of sparkles! The sentiment is from Digi Boutique and the Happy Birthday sentiment is LOTV as is the paper. I added some ribbon and a wishing well charm too.

Inside I used the same paper but pale blue with a strip of the check paper to tie in with the front.

DORIS
My project for this challenge is a beautiful and bright card. And as you know, we have to choose at least 3 elements, the elements that I have chosen: a fairy of course, sparkles, stars, the moon and a saying. The digital image I chose is a sweet fairy (Fairy Constance) provided by our fabulous sponsor Crackerbox Palace.  I also used glitter,  sparkle flowers, star brads and .gems stone flourishes. I painted the digi image using Spectrum Noir. Come and join with us in this beautiful challenge. For more details, I invite you to visit my blog.
