Challenge #11 It's about Quirky Time.

Hi Cazzy here, and I thought it was about time that we had a challenge about time!

To see who won the last challenge click HERE or scroll down to the next post.

This challenge is all about time, so I want to see clocks somewhere on your project, or maybe an altered clock, you can use time sentiments but there must be clocks, egg timers, any sort of clocks!

Now it is time for a little video  to amuse you while you think up a great project to make:

Our sponsor for this challenge is the very generous:

The prizes are:
1st place - 3 sets of choice
2nd place - 2 sets of choice
3rd place - 1 set of choice

The Cutting Cafe also provided lots of images for the team to use.

We used:
Clock background set

Here are some projects to inspire you, first of all our lovely:

Guest Designers

Zoe
Zoe made a great pop up box card in black and white and said "Ive had so much fun with this card, thank you once again for asking me to be a guest". You are welcome Zoe - thank you for accepting the invitation!

Magreet made a stunning piece with some great cogs on the side. She used Colorful Clocks and Time backgrounds, more details on her blog.

and now:

The Lovely Quirky Design Team

For this challenge I made a "Birth Frame" for Juan Andres, my friend Jessica born to be. The idea is that she can write on the sign the birth day and on the clock the hour of birth, I also give her two additional signs to add the weight and height of the baby.
To make this project I used the blue dotted background and the yellow frame provided by our sponsor and the clock, that will have Juan Andres birth hour.
I really enjoy this project.

Cindy
I just realised that I went to pink again for this challenge using The Cutting Cafe images!  So funny since I do not use pink that often...   Time words are layered on top of a clocks background that has been masked and sprayed with various shades of pink and gold.  The clock and circle greeting are mounted onto chipboard and popped up too.  For more details check out my blog!

I think this is Cindy's last challenge with us, she very kindly did 2 sets of 4 challenges in a row to help out while Doris and Gemma were out sick, Thank you for being a great teamie Cindy, it has been a pleasure to work with you! Cindy will feature in the reminder post, and vote one more time.
Karen is still with us for another challenge after this - we want more of you to sign up for the 4 challenge spot though, just click on the appropriate tab at the top to enter your link.

Doris

I'm back after several weeks in recovery. It goes without saying that I am very happy to be with you again! For this challenge. I made a page using an Teresa Collins printed cardboard clocks . Also I used a  black and white picture which reminds me of a good time spent on vacations midyear in 2013. I printed out many clock files from our generous sponsor The Cutting Cafe and using Distress Ink Tim Holtz I gave it color, and finally I added some flowers and self adhesive BoBunny Jewels. I hope you really enjoy this challenge, I enjoyed myself very much and cannot wait to get to our challenge reminder next week.

WELCOME BACK DORIS, we are so happy to have you back!

This CAS Thank You card would be great for anyone who has helped out...given their time!  I printed the background, Clocks from the Cutting Cafe on kraft cardstock and mounted it on black.  The saying is printed using a free font..."the Blue Cabin".   I attached a glass dome to a clock from The Cutting Cafe's, It's About Time.

This is the second time I have made one of these pop up boxes, and the last one was also for a Cutting Cafe challenge post!
More later - got to go out! I'm back now. I used the clock background printed on green card for the card (box) base. The tag was cut out of the Time background and sponged with Distress ink. I added a cuckoo clock and sentiments from All About Time, and I really wanted a cuckoo and found a little bird in a past set called One Spring Day, I know mine looks like a Robin!
I added big spotty ribbon to the front tied round with seam binding from Crafty Ribbons, I used some more seam binding with polka dot chiffon ribbon in the tag.

I don't know about you but I don't think my family "get it" when it comes to fancy fold cards, so I have added an arrow on the back, also from It's About Time, to help.

When the card is closed you can just see the arrow.

Lyn

Because my computer and printer have been playing up lately, I decided to put all the things I wanted to use on my creation all into Mirco Soft Word and layer them up in there. This is quite layered up with card, (Black, lilac and lavender) but the actual digi's and papers are flat, including the sentiment. In my Quirky file I also had a Bugaboo image, Stella sipping her Martini on the Rocks, which I felt just had to go on too.I've also used die cut cogs and embossed clocks.

More Quirky peacocks.

I couldn't support Monica on Sunday, or Monday due to a migraine, but finally I have made my next two peacock cards.

My first card is made with the gorgeous IKEsART peacock, painted with Twinkling H2Os and the detail coloured with Atyou Spica pens. I die cut a couple of feathers this time.

For this card I used a panel of paper from the Coosty Creations Mehendi Peacock pack, it is covered in tiny peacocks. The large peacock is by Delicious Doodles and is totally coloured with Atyou Spica pens, I tried to give the tail feathers a goldy green look.

We have only had a couple of entries so far, so there is a great chance of winning the prizes if you join in with your peacock coloured cards, or cards with peacocks or peacock feathers!

Challenge #10 As proud (and beautiful) as a Quirky Peacock-Reminder

Hi this is Monica and this is the reminder post of "As proud (and beautiful) as a Quirky Peacock" Challenge.
Remember: We want to see a lot of proud peacocks and peacocks feathers, we want to see its beauty and its stunning colors.

Don´t you think peacocks are just gorgeous????? So come a play with us!!!!

We are sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps

Guest Designer Lynda

The Alipeeps peacock profile is just stunning, and for her I decided to use promarkers to colour her in strikingly bold shades of blue. I kept the card simple, mounting her onto bright blue glitter card with decorative corners, and layering onto silver and black mirror card. The sentiment is one from my stash that just seemed appropriate!

Here are some creations of our Quirky Team:

For this reminder I made two projects:

First, I made a 3D peacock, using the Mehendi Peacock Digital Paper from Coosty Creations and the drag and drop pattern feature of the Silhouette Studio software. To assemble this  one, you must love to play puzzles -take a little time for me, to understand where to place each piece- LOL.

For my second project I made a card with this stunning Peacock digi, from IkesArt.
To color this image, I used my brand new  Twinkling H2O´s, watercolor paints with a lots of mica in it, to give a beautiful shimmer touch to the project.

Challenge #10 As proud (and beautiful) as a Quirky Peacock

Hi there!!! It´s Monica and this is my turn to set the challenge.

At first, let´s start warming up - by having a little dance:

Don´t you think peacocks are the most gorgeous birds of all?  They are so proud of their stunning open tails!!!!
Well this new challenge is all about that: we want to see your peacock themed projects, you can use peacock colours, it would be wonderful if you could include some proud peacocks and peacock feathers of course but not essential. We want to see projects based on the peacock's beauty and its stunning colors.
Come and play with us!!!!

This challenge is sponsored by:
 Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps.

We had the chance to play with their stunning digital stamps and papers, thank you so much Stitchy.

The prizes for this challenge are:
1st place - 3 images of choice from the whole Stitchy Bear Store
2nd place- any 3 of the Dt´s chosen images
3rd place- any 2 of the Dt´s chosen images

For this challenge Stitchy Bear generously supplied the following beautiful peacock files and images to the team to work with:
IKEsART: Peacock
My Heart Pieces: Peacock
 Delicious Doodles: Peacock Feather
Delicious Doodles: Peacock
Stitchy Bear: Peacock
Alipeeps: Peacock Profile

And now some inspiration from our Dt´s:

GUEST DESIGNERS

Lynda

The Delicious Doodles Peacock feather is such a bold print that rather than just colouring it I wanted to make it stand out even more with some zentangling. I then coloured it with distress markers, and spritzed it with some cosmic shimmer mist to give it some sparkle. I mounted it on black mirror card and layered that onto some hand made backing paper which I created by stamping a peacock feather stamp in versamark and colouring with perfect pearls.

I tried to create a film cell effect, so I laser printed Peacock by IKEsArt on to acetate, foiled it in black and then coloured with my Copics. I cut the feather on my Cameo and coloured with Copics. I thought it had an Art Nouveau feel so I used an AN font to cut the lettering out of vinyl.

I started my background by gluing down torn strips of paper with a mat gel medium. Then I added Rayher Antique medium to create texture. I printed the Alipeeps: Peacock Profile on white tissue paper and coloured her with Copics. I cut out the image and drew it’s contours on the background to paint everything behind the image white. Then I put a layer of transparent gesso all around the image to give the Lindy’s Stamp Gang spray (I used Treasure Island Aqua) some grip. I then glued my digistamp down with mat gel medium. After it dried completely I painted the darkblue centers in the feathers with Lumiere metallic paint (Indigo) and the green circles with Docraft Artiste Metallic paint (Emerald Green). The little dots were made with a TCW stencil and Inca Gold Copper and I distressed the edges of my pages with a Gelato Chocolate. Around the face and on the hair I added some shading with a Faber Castel Big Brush Pitt pen Capuut Mortuum 169.

I also used one of the papers from the Mehendi Peacock Digital Stamp and Paper Pack, you can just see it peeking through here.

DESIGN TEAM

For this project I made a bendy card, working with this gorgeous papers Stitchy Bear provided us.

A closer look of the texture of the paper set, this file is "Mehendi Peacock". Aren´t they just perfect???

This stunning digi is "Peacock". I colored it using a mix of Spectrum Noir pens and Prismacolor pencils. And added a bit of glitter to the tail feathers.

This peacock is by My Heart Pieces, one of many artists at Stitchy Bear!  I printed the Coosty Creations background  to 5x7" then cut it down, adding a Spellbinder cut mat on top.  Once the image was coloured with markers, I also die cut it out carefully tucking the tail out of the way.  More details at my blog!

Lyn - will be a little late due to a broken printer!

The IKEsART Peacock image was colored with Copics.  The background paper is from Club Scrap, the glass circle from Craft Fantastic, and the peahen and chicks photo from a free photo site.

On the front of my card I used 3 of the papers from the Coosty Creations Mehendi Peacock Digital Stamp and Paper Pack , with the Mehendi peacock. There is lots of intricate detail on this beautiful image which I coloured with Atyou Spica pens for the metallic shine I wanted, but I think I will experiment with other mediums to see what can be done. I spotted a pack of real peacock feathers in a box on my shelves and decided this was the perfect time to use one!

Inside the card  (and the smallest paper panel on the front) is the 3d effect paper from the pack. You can't see the 3d much on the small panel but you can on the inside.

Gemma and Doris are still on sick leave, they really want to get back crafting soon!
