Welcome to Quirky Crafts Challenges

Welcome to Quirky Crafts Challenges the place where any craft project is allowed.

We're a small design team with big inspiration.

On the first Sunday of the month, at 6pm UK time, we will set a new challenge which will close on the 28th of that month at midday. The DT will pick their top three favourites and you could win a prize and join us as a Guest Designer. Winners are posted on the first Sunday in the month (midday usually) before the new challenge - don't forget to come and check if you are a winner.

Challenge 21 -Magical Moments (must have magical creatures, silver, stars and glitter or sparkle).

My Challenge this time (Diane) although this theme was more of a joint choice really. Heading into Autumn at a rate of knots with all the magic and myth of Halloween and Bonfire Night just around the corner everyone is thinking Magical thoughts......so that is what I want to see this time. you can make anything, not just cards, in fact we quite like to see different projects. Whatever you decide to enter must have something magical- so I am thinking Fairies, Wizards, any Magical Creatures etc and I also want to see Stars, Glitter and Silver on your entries. The winning entry must fulfil all these conditions. If you miss something off your entry will not be included in the vote. Goodness I sound very strict don't I? (I am not really, but don't tell anyone!)
Our challenge this week is sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps. They are very kindly providing a prize for the winner of this challenge as decided by the Design Team.....and the prize is a $10 voucher to spend in the store.

So let us give you some inspiration here.....

First our Guest Designers:

Desire used Room for Two image for her classy stepper card which has lots of sparkle with the gems and silver and unusual stars!
This is an angled view to show the depth of the card and the detail.

Crafty Girl used Christmas Fairy on her magical Christmas decoration.

Here is a close up of the Christmas Fairy. For more images and details of this and other great projects visit Crafty Girl's blog.

I must apologise for the image, I have tried all sorts! I found some silver inkjet film in the drawer and thought perfect, and I didn't even think about it being so reflective so you can see the inside of my light box in the background!  I printed Fairy Moon on to the film, and cut it out, matted it on black glitter paper and holographic silver star card. I heat embossed some star brads with silver tinsel glitter and I added clear plastic letters to spell Wish. I think it is a pretty Christmas card. Oh and I glazed the image to prevent damage, more about that on my blog!

Lyn will possibly join us later, she has had a bereavement in the family and is, quite rightly, more concerned with that right now. We send you our hugs and Support Lyn.....

Here's my first card. I've used one of my favourite Stitchy Bear images, The SteamPunk Fairy. I've coloured her with Promarkers, used my Memory Die-cut, Pinkpetticoat starry papers, black and silver Card Candi, purple gems, micro glitter, Stickles glitter on the edges of the black and purple ribbons, black card and silver miri card!

For my second card, I've used a wizard cat from Stitchy bears Jacare's Halloween Bundle. I'm really not too happy with the way this one turned out! Everything that could go wrong, went wrong!  (see blog for details).
Caro
My first entry is an ATC made using the Spooky Owl from our sponsors. I coloured the background to create a halo round the moon by using distress inks (faded jeans and dusty concord), then added extra tree branches and birds using Lavinia stamps.  Finally I finished it off with a silver glittery star.
My second entry uses the Fairy moon digital stamp from our sponsors.  I decided to keep to a black, white and pink colour scheme. To make the main image 'pop' I added pink and silver pearlescent glue to the moon and stars and then glitter glue to the fairy's hair.  I used my cuttlebug to die cut and emboss round the image as well as embossing the background before embellishing with pink glittery gems in the corners.

Stars, Glitter and Silver all over this one! I decided to make something other than a card for a change. Using stamps from Stitchy Bear I have made a Halloween treat holder. Bit tricky to photograph, but the inside is all patterned too.

Now it's your turn......

Please add a link to your blog post (not your blog) using the biggest blue froggy at the top of the collection, the other one (at the bottom) doesn't do anything that we can tell, and please comment after you have linked. Don't forget to mention Quirky and add a link back to here (please read the rules and if you realised you haven't followed the rules and won't be included in the top three, and you want your entry removed to try again - please email us using the link in the side bar).

If you can't see the froggy please refresh your screen.

Have Fun - The Quirky Crafts Challenge Design Team.

Please leave us a comment after you have linked your creation. If you followed the Quirky Rules you may be included in the top three  and possibly a prize winner - good luck from the team. Please come back and check if you won.
