The bird is  a Finch. It is fun to watch the different ones, sitting in our warm house.

Remember I had photograped this breeding coot "here" at the end of April, well the young ones have arrived. I couldn't come closer but the orange beaks are visible, I counted four of them.

This one was to small for a nest.

Summertimes

Mother Duck has eight little ones following her. After the cold weather we recently had, we are suddenly plunged into high summer temperatures of 26-30 C (78-86F) The weather is very whimsical but everyone is enjoying it outdoors,  end of the week we seem to return to cold weather again....

It seems this is a popular place for birds to rest and to do their thing. Two of the 12 thousand pigeons living in Amsterdam.

The pigeons in the centre of Amsterdam have found a meeting place at the National Monument at Dam square. The coat of arms are of the twelve provincesof the Netherlands.

I continue yesterday's post about the bird show we had. The most impressive bird was of course the Bald Eagle. That look of him.

Yesterday we had a bird show as a birthday present for a good friend. On a cold winterday several birds were presented to us as this "Caracara" , a smart bird from the US.

A screech owl.

This one is a Harris Hawk.

I am sorry, I have to look for their names.

But this was the birthday girl with an Oehoe.( eagle-owl) . Tomorrow more.

Birds in Amsterdam

As many big cities in Europe Amsterdam has a lot of pigeons flying around. In 2001 they counted 12 thousend of them,  including 2750 in the innercity.

For some people they are a plaque with lots of dirty pigeon droppings, but others feed them. The seagull didn't like the pigeon food.

But they sat fraternally together on the fence afterwards
