Roof Parc

One from the archives of 2018 when we visited the "Roof Days" in Rotterdam.  From the roof of a building we had a view at  a "Roof Parc".

Watch this, isn't it amazing to use the roof as a parc and a playground.

Signs

In 2018 we visited the "Open Roofs Days" in Rotterdam. You can climb in several buildings to the roof and have a view over the city. Here we had a view at a highschool with a quote on top :
"Where I feel good I am at home" by Erasmus.
Desiderius Erasmus ( 1466-1536) was a Dutch priest, philosopher, humanist, theologian and writer.

Ascension Day

Today is a day off in the Netherlands to celebrate this religious day. I am not religious but made my own stairway to heaven  in 2016 on these stairs in Rotterdam. it was a temporary stairway made to climb up to the roof of the building. It was a celebration for 75 years rebuilding the city after it was destroyed after bombed by the Germans in WWII ..

It was a long way up 180 steps  and pretty high when looking down.

But I made it.

Lust for Life

The Netherlands Photomuseum in Rotterdam has an exhibition "Lust for Life" of Dutch photographer Ed van der Elsken (1925-1990) He is well known for his streetphotos in the sixties and the seventies. In 2016  his colour slides were discovered that were in a bad condition and had inmediately to be restored, 42.000 colour photos were cleaned and saved forever from destruction.

Here an example of the restoration.

It was a joy to see all the photos of the sixties in Amsterdam, the" flower power" and "sit ins".
Brought back nice memories of that time when we lived there too.

I had the same blue shoes with platform soles! And a mini-skirt too.
