Update.

Bekah with her friend Asher.  They have been friends since they were 3 months old.

I would hope she got some of Papa's talent for making things.

Shawl of may colors.  I wish I could have found more of this yarn to make Xavier's sweater.

Mystery shawl..  Completed at last.  This was a five week work in progress.

Spring table runner...  Quick easy project.

My sweater.  Fits perfectly.  The color is actually more of a teal than blue.  I seem to be getting ready for warm weather.

Another pair of socks.  I will need warm toes soon.

The background is a Quilt along I participated in this January.

Out and About

Yesterday being Wednesday I was pleased to join friends for lunch.  Back room of a local restaurant gave me a chance to sing with Louise...

Now to back up a bit.

This is the pattern I chose to make a wee giftie for each member...

Two and a half dozen were cut, pinned and ready to stitch..

Sewing done it was time to turn each one.

After they were quilted and the accessories were added I wrapped them.

I seem to have forgotten to take a picture of one finished.  I will remedy that tomorrow.

Enjoy your countdown to the birth of our Lord...

I thought it would be fun to have a few friends over before we got caught up in the holiday madness.

The dishes were my mother's.  They seemed the perfect thing for the autumn time of year.

An arrangement here...

A few pumpkins and a turkey there...

And we were done with the decorating.

I did remember to get a picture of all of us.

We enjoyed a grand evening just laughing together.

Busy Month

Soup has always been a favorite food.  Since surgery it is easy to eat and nutritious.  Since my taste has changed since surgery purchased soups are to spicy for me.  I decided to make my own and can them myself.

Cooked a large batch of Brunswick Stew on Tuesday for a luncheon at the Guild.  Since the recipe feeds 30 I planned a dinner with friends here tomorrow.  Gave containers to Kim and Amanda last night so save them from having to cook after a long day at work.

Made Snickerdoodle bread from a recipe that appeared on line.  It was good but I doubt I will make it again.

These are mini pans and made nice gifts to people stopping by.

Monday morning I began cutting a quilt for a friend.

Tuesday I had the cutting completed.

Wednesday found me putting the HST's together.

Yesterday I made an arrangement using a round metal tray and four containers with bulbs that I hope will bloom over the holidays.

After Thanksgiving I can replace the fall color flowers with Christmas colors  and enjoy them while they bloom.  After the holidays they will be planted outside to bring joy for years to come.

Last month I went with a group of friends to a Barn Quilt painting class.  This is the block I selected.

I am looking forward to having it hung Thanksgiving day when the family is here.

Time Flies

Last month I had the girls over for dinner.  Jean was here for a visit so we all got together.

I could not decide Tomato with Orzo

Or onion so I fixed both of them.

The onion seemed a bit more festive.  Found my individual casserole dishes and then

prepped the toasted bread to go on top.  Shredded parmesan cheese for the final touch.

What a pleasurable evening.  After diner I fixed take home packages for everyone and then we sat around and talked.

Good friends and close neighbors are such a joy.

Progress

The borders were sewn on...

Now to prepare the backing... Then next Wednesday it will be off to the quilter...

This cross stitch complete just need to decide on the finishing.  Auditioning fabric in case I want to make a small quilt...

Found this kit that was Rebekah's.  It will be a tree skirt for a small quilt.

Found a sweet night gown pattern for Rebekah...  Now to get one cut out and ready.  Picked up fabric for four gowns...

Off to get a haircut.  Not before time...

A Little Sewing Done

This quilt was cut out months ago.    The pattern is from Fabric CafĂ©.  They have some quick quilt patterns that are fun to assemble.

They also only take three yards of fabric for the top and three yards for the back.  Great way to reduce stash...

I had even marked the pieces for the pinwheel blocks so sewing went quickly.

The pinwheel blocks sewn and the quilt is ready to assemble.

Rows are now ready to be sewn together...

Two Steps Forward - One Step Back...

A half a dozen diapers for Rebekah...  She enjoys playing with Baby...  I need to get some clothes made for the doll next.

Helen Stubbings has produced a year long embroidery project called 365 Day Stitch Therapy.

Part embroidery and part applique...  Looked like great fun and a good way to start each day...

I have gotten started and am on day 62 now.

Not doing the applique blocks yet.  Saving them till last.

So many delightful embroideries that can be used on other projects...

Now off to spend an hour working on the quilted bears that were supposed to be finished last year.

Sewing Again

Fabric CafĂ© has some wonderful three yard quilts...  They also sell kits...  Easy to cut out and easy to follow instructions...  This quilt had to be ready by yesterday in order to get it to the quilter...

I already had it cut out and on Saturday I started piecing...

In spite of other obligations and the studio redo I found enough time to assemble the top and have it ready on time...  Didn't get pictures of the quilt with the borders...  You can see that picture when it is delivered next month and the binding is complete...  Binding is all cut out and ready to go...
