An unfinished essay written in the wake of my course entitled "Writing In The Wake of Disaster" (Autumn Semester 2009). This is a theorization of the content and theme of the course, which demonstrated that undergraduate non-majors can handle Blanchot's most challenging texts. My students deserve credit for valuable contributions to the ideas herein.

The purpose of this work is to comprehend the importance and scope of chance in the poetry of Mallarmé. In order to do that, we will proceed according to a three-pronged approach; recompose the political, poetic and philosophical context that made possible the emergence and establishment of chance as an event both revolutionary, creative and conceptual. Since Baudelaire, poetry sings the failed revolutions, but willing to preserve the desire for a different world. Chance in this context is the unpredictable bursts, lightning and transient of a desire that can not find its place within the social life, to keep alive and vivid the dream of a different world, poetry must: provide evidence that its action, even restricted, counts; make last chance doomed to fade, constituting a space where it can remain, multiply itself and thus find the consistency to remain.  Prolonging a contingency that creates novelty is the task that Mallarmé attributes to his poetry.  Philosophically, this approach requires a radical critique of reason and representation. In this context, Mallarmé has not only announced chance, but he sought to discover the logic of what escapes from reason composing a work capable of making real, visible and intelligible, the unpredictable and inexhaustible power that chance grips.

Breve estudio comparado de las interpretaciones de Hegel, Nietzche y Heidegger, sobre los fundamentos filosóficos de Heráclito como determinantes para el pensamiento del ser en la contemporaneidad. El mismo fue el resultado de una cátedra de estudios del doctorado en filosofía de la Facultad de Humanidades y Educación de la Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela), en el año 2011 y mi tutor, el profesor Mauricio Navia Antesana.

Nietzsche, felsefenin tarlası olan Batı dünyasının sıra dışı, keskin zekalı, gerçekçi ve gerçekçi olduğu kadar da hayalci, önemli bir feylesofudur.

Evet, Nietzsche’de sadece felsefe bulursunuz... Sosyolojide, edebiyatta, ilahiyatta çok gerilerde olan bir insandır o.

Nietzsche gibi keskin zekalı bir dostum tarafından onun ile ilgili bir kitap bana tavsiye edildi. Kitap, yarı-belgesel bir roman idi... Sürükleyici olduğu kadar da sarsıcı idi. Kitabı bitirdiğimde kafamdaki birçok değerin sarsıldığını hissettim. Çünkü kitabın yazarı, Nietzsche’nin felsefesini ve isyankârlığını sömürerek insanı varoluşçuluğa sürüklüyordu.

Kitabı bitirip bir-iki saat tefekkürden sonra Kur’an’a yönelmek ihtiyacını hissettim. Kur’an’ı açar açmaz, karşıma Ankebut (Örümcek) süresinin 39-46. ayetleri çıktı. Kadim Batı medeniyetini ve felsefesini temsil eden Firavun ile ilgili bir iki ayet ve materyalizmi örümcek ağına benzeten 41. ayet dikkatimi çekti. Sonra bütün sureyi okudum. Baktım, surenin ana konusu; musibet ve kötülükleri izah, ümitsizliğe çare gösterme, sağlıklı bir ilah anlayışı ve aşkın öz değerlere dayalı olan bir toplumun kurulmasıdır.

Evet, surenin bütün ayet, cümle ve kelimeleri birbiriyle sıkıca ilişkili olan bu konular etrafında dönüyordu. Ki, Nietzsche’nin içinden çıkamadığı sorunlar da bunlar idi.

Biz, felsefî değerlendirmeleri işin ehline bırakıp, bu temel konularla ilgili, Kur’an’dan birkaç inceliği meal ve yorum bazında yazmakla yetineceğiz.

In this essay I evaluate a new and influential interpretation of Nietzsche's idea of the slave revolt in morality. This interpretation was first proposed by Bernard Reginster and has since been extended by R. Lanier Anderson and Avery Snelson. Citing textual evidence from Beyond Good and Evil and On the Genealogy of Morality , these scholars have argued for the counterintuitive view that nobles, not slaves, instigated the slave revolt in morality. This is because Nietzsche says that nobles create new values, introduces priests as nobles, and claims that priests began the slave revolt. However, against this new approach I argue that these scholars neglect important evidence from these same texts in which Nietzsche claims that the psychologically slavish can also create values, assumes that politically subordinated nobles can lose their psychological nobility, and asserts that the slave revolt was instigated by psychologically slavish priests. I also argue that these scholars ignore Nietzsche's related claims that the priestly peasant Luther renewed the Jewish slave revolt against re-ascendant Roman nobles and that the plebeian philosopher Socrates led a slave revolt in morality against the Athenian nobles. Thus, it turns out that none of the leaders of the slave revolt were noble and that one of them was not even priestly. I conclude with a defense of the traditional and straightforward view that Nietzsche always conceived of the slave revolt in morality as an act of revenge by oppressed people who are politically and psychologically ignoble.

Os multiversos - conceito que têm origem na física - têm apresentado
múltiplas versões dos mesmos personagens em diferentes mídias; por outro
lado, o personagem, em si mesmo, pela própria natureza da narrativa enquanto
categoria comunicacional, se altera no decorrer de uma trama em conjunto com
o enredo. Essas são possíveis maneiras do personagem mudar sua
personalidade, porém aqui vamos trazer mais uma: a da “venda da alma”.
Vamos analisar dois personagens que se “corromperam”: Darth Vader, da
franquia Star Wars, e Evil Ryu, da franquia Street Fighter. A seguir vamos
teorizar os conceitos do estudo.

Resumen:
El presente artículo se propone dar cuenta del elusivo fenómeno de la conciencia desde la original perspectiva de la neurofenomenología de Francisco Varela, quien a partir de nociones tales como neuroplasticidad, enacción y emergencia, explica, cómo ocurren los procesos cerebrales que fundan la conciencia y la “unidad” de la vivencia. Describiendo como la conciencia aparece en el vivir encarnado: en la regulación con el cuerpo entero; en sus relaciones sensorio-motoras con el mundo y en una red ínter-subjetiva de acciones y de lenguaje.

described Ulysses as the "epic of the human body", whereby, as Ellmann has said, it "strives to unite word and flesh". 1 But Joyce"s essential break with the conventional narrative of the nineteenth century involved a break with the underlying assumption of that narrative, that there was a reliable and enduring relationship between language and reality.

Philosophy – whether traditional or contemporary – has nothing to say about the human metaphysical predicament, and cannot even offer a basic phenomenology of the human condition. Part of the problem is the ongoing confusion as to what philosophy actually amounts to, and what it can achieve. It is necessary to demystify philosophy, and have it restricted to the discipline of critical thinking, and it should not be thought of as possessing any substantial theoretical content of its own. It is a method, a skillset, a series of techniques, not a repository of various highbrow theories, whether about mind, epistemology, ontology, cosmology, science, or anything else. Metaphysics is an entirely distinct and separate field of inquiry, and concerns the human predicament, and ultimate human fulfilment, and it is to this end that critical thinking skills can usefully be applied. The purpose of this short study is to give some help to those hoping to gain an insight into the metaphysical realms of their being, and who would like some guidance with regard to those formal and academic disciplines supposedly geared to dealing with that very subject.

En el presente trabajo intentaré explicitar qué es lo que debemos entender por “platonismo” en el modelo de inversión del mismo que encontramos en la obra del filósofo alemán Friedrich Nietzsche. Señalaré luego posibles momentos de contacto y discrepancia entre el símil de la caverna de Platón y las primeras secciones del prólogo de Así hablaba Zaratustra. Por último tomaré un fragmento de El ocaso de los ídolos para dar notas acerca del “perspectivismo” nietzscheano como  alternativa al modelo metafísico de la tradición occidental.

This paper is a philosophical analysis ofHeidegger and Nietzsche's approach tometaphysics and the associated problem ofnihilism. Heidegger sums up the history ofWestern metaphysics in a way which challengescommon sense approaches to values education.Through close attention to language, Heideggerargues that Nietzsche inverts thePlatonic-Christian tradition but retains theanthropocentric imposition of ‘values’. Ihave used Nietzsche's theory to suggest aslightly different definition of metaphysicsand nihilism which draws attention to theontological parameters of human truths as astruggle between competing sets of conflictingor contradictory values (perspectives) thatopens space for rethinking and re-educatinghuman possibilities. How this openness willshow up in educational theory and practice isonly beginning to be evoked. The twophilosophers indicate an approach to issues ofmorality, decision making and knowledgeproduction which may surprise and disconcerttraditional views. As the forefathers ofpost-structuralist thinking, Nietzsche andHeidegger offer a critique of Humanism whileretaining the Renaissance tradition ofpositioning education as the well spring ofvalues in society. It is through the generationof new knowledges, the development of critiqueand the nurturing of character that societyreformulates itself in relation to the earth.The ethical evaluation of these new forms ofknowledge is crucial to the creative and caringregeneration of the human environment, asopposed to the corrosive adoption ofconsumerism and usury.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche fue uno de los filósofos alemanas más influyentes del siglo XIX junto con Karl Marx o Sigmund Freud. Desarrolló una crítica de la cultura, religión y filosofía occidental. Su obra impresionó profundamente a generaciones posteriores. Fue más allá del secularismo de la Ilustración, expresada en su frase de que "Dios ha muerto", en una manera que determinó la agenda de muchos intelectuales después de su muerte. La característica determinante de Nietzsche no es tanto la temática que trataba sino el estilo y la sutileza con que lo hacía. Fue muy discutido durante su vida. Nietzsche recibió reconocimiento durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX como una figura significativa en la filosofía moderna.

The following article presents the “discovery” of Descartes: the
subject and subjectivity. The French thinker comes to the conclusion that
we can doubt anything except our existence. So the famous cogito ergo
sum became the foundation to the new subject which in modern epoch
experienced spectacular development. (We cannot forget that to Descartes
the doubt means cogito, that is - thinking). According to Vattimo, among
the features of the new subject we find the desire for freedom and self-realization, the critics towards the past and towards metaphysics. This subject was called by Italian philosopher the subject of middle-class Christian
who wants to separate from the past, wants to break all the chains, but also
keeps something from the past as if the work is not yet finished.

Perante a dificuldade, que a história da arte e da filosofia evidenciam, de definir arte e obra de arte, Morris Weitz propôs, em 1956, a utilização do chamado "conceito aberto" de Wittgenstein, no seu artigo The Role of Theory in Aesthetics. Neste ensaio procuramos analisar o potencial desse conceito e a forma como se pode relacionar com diferentes teorias de diferentes autores, verificando que o conceito aparenta ser tão flexível que parece ser capaz até de tirar partido de elementos do pensamento estético nietzschiano, tal como o filósofo alemão o explicitou em O Nascimento da Tragédia.

The second essay of the Genealogy of Morality (GM II) is proclaimed by Nietzsche to be the "long history of the origins of responsibility," but the immediate context in which this claim is made, coupled with GM II's broader aims and themes, makes interpreting this claim immensely difficult. For one thing, Nietzsche endorses an ideal of responsibility in relation to the sovereign individual, but the rest of the essay is concerned with providing an account of the origins of conscience, bad conscience, and guilt-that is, an account of moral capacities that most humans possess. More problematically, this account appears to be inconsistent with Nietzsche's persistent and emphatic denial of free will and moral responsibility throughout his other works. I first consider and critique two kinds of strategies employed in the literature for addressing these issues. I then propose a Strawsonian reading of GM II which I think does a better job of solving them. I contend that GM II analyzes the idea of "responsibility" naturalistically in terms of the practice of holding oneself and others responsible, as constituted by what Nietzsche calls the "reactive affects," namely guilt. As for P.F. Strawson, a consequence of this is that libertarian free will is not a condition of responsible agency.

Günün birinde, gönlünde bir değişim olur ve güneşin karşısında şöyle der: "Ey ulu yıldız, kendilerine ışık saçtıkların olmasaydı, saadetin nerede kalırdı? Fazla bal toplamış arı gibi bilgeliğimden bıktım, onu almak için uzanmış ellere muhtâcım. İnsanlar arasında memnuniyetle bilgeliğimi dağıtmak istiyorum. Aralarına ineceğim." 1 Kendisine yol arkadaşı arayan Zerdüşt, Üstinsan'ın gelişini hızlandırmak ister. Hattâ, bu uğurda "haydut" olarak anılmayı bile göze alır. 2 Dağdan inip ormana vardığında, bir ihtiyarla karşılaşır. İhtiyar, "Uyuyanlar arasında ne işin var?" diye sorar. Zerdüşt, "İnsanları seviyorum." diye cevap verir. İhtiyar ise "Tanrı'yı seviyorum, insanları sevmiyorum. İnsan sevgisi, mahvım olurdu benim!" deyince Zerdüşt, insanlara bir hediye vermek istediğini söyler. Resumen

Se intenta desmantelar la aparente antinomia entre arte y tecnología según se ha entendido tradicionalmente, esto es, que la tecnología nos remitiría al ámbito de la reproductibilidad, lo maquinal y lo insensible; mientras que al arte pareciera pertenecer al dominio de la imaginación, la sensibilidad y la creatividad. Más bien, como se mostrará, una adecuada comprensión del arte posmoderno no puede dejar de atender a la irreductible inscripción del artista en el seno de una cultura como la nuestra, marcada por la informatización y digitalización. Es así como asistimos a un cambio de paradigma en el estatuto del arte, a una revolución en la escena del arte y de nuestros regímenes de visualidad, de allí la necesidad de explorar el desarrollo de las estéticas de la virtualidad, las que nos instalan en nuevas lógicas de producción de verdad en el arte, emancipadas de la institución del museo como instancia última de legitimación y validación de lo artístico.

Here is one of the most significant section of renowned Danish critic Georg Brandes's seminal study 'Friedrich Nietzsche'. It provides the complete correspondence between these two intellectuals, who also became respectful friends. In fact, Brandes was one of the few figures who Nietzsche esteemed and cared about, as witnessed by the fact it was to Brandes he wrote one his very last letters (included here). The book as a whole also provides great insight into Nietzsche as Brandes appreciated his philosophy better than any other critic of his day. 'Friedrich Nietzsche' includes the lecture series that made Nietzsche a household name throughout Europe, the complete correspondence between Brandes and Nietzsche (provided here), plus later appraisal of Nietzsche's work, including consideration of his importance after his death. Supplementary materials featured in that volume, include an introductory essay on Brandes and several portraits of Nietzsche and Brandes. It is a fully revised version of the A.G. Chater translation with complete annotations, literary and linguistic, by Nietzsche and Brandes.

2008 küresel finansal ve ekonomik krizi yaşadığımız çağ açısından büyük bir dönüm noktasıdır. 2008 yılında meydana gelen kriz ile birlikte büyük bir darbe alan kapitalist sistem sona mı gelmiştir yoksa kendini yenileyerek yeni dönemde yeni kurumları ile bir diğer boyuta mı geçecektir? Yaşamış olduğumuz çağ, şüphesiz ki büyük deği- şimlerin gerçekleştiği, bilinen tüm kalıpların ve tanımların yıkıldığı büyük değişim- lere şahitlik etmektedir. Tüm bu sorulara yanıt 1883 yılında o dönemde Avusturya- Macaristan topraklarında bulunan, Moravia’da doğan Avustuya Okulu’nun yaramaz çocuğu olarak tanınan takma ismi ile Jozsi, gerçek ismi ile iktisat düşünürleri arasın- da düşünceleri ile çığır açmış olan Joseph Alois Schumpeter tarafından verilmeye çalışılmıştır.
1883 yılı iktisadi düşünce tarihi açısından da oldukça ilgi çekici bir tesadüf yılı ola- rak kabul edilmiştir. 1883 yılında büyük düşünür Karl Marx hayatını kaybetmiş, aynı yıl içerisinde Joseph Alois Schumpeter ve John Maynard Keynes dünyaya gelmiş- tir. Bu durum Karl Marx’ın dünyaya iki ayrı ruh olarak tekrar geldiği şeklinde mizahi bir dille yorumlanmıştır. Ancak kapitalizmin gelişimi önce Keynes’i daha sonra ise Schumpeter’i haklı çıkaracak eğilimlere yönelmiş, önce Keynes’in düşünceleri daha sonra ise Schumpeter’in ortaya koymuş olduğu çarpıcı düşünce ve teoriler kapita- lizmin anlaşılması açısından büyük bir önem taşımıştır. 1980 ve öncesine Keynes damga vururken, 1980 ve sonrasında Schumpeter’in fikirlerine yönelik ilgi ciddi bir şekilde artmış, özellikle Schumpeter tarafından ortaya konulan “yaratıcı yıkım” teorisi günümüzde meydana gelen iktisadi ve sosyal değişimlerin anlaşılması açısından tar- tışmaların merkezine alınmıştır.
Bu noktada çalışma, 2008 küresel finansal ve ekonomik krizini Schumpeter’in çarpıcı düşünce ve teorilerinden yola çıkarak bir çağ krizi olarak ele almakta ve Schumpeter’in vizyonundan bir kapitalizm serüveni ortaya koyarak, yaşamakta olduğumuz dünyada meydana gelen değişimleri önce kapitalizm daha sonra Avrupa Birliği ve küreselleş- me açısından incelemekte ve yeni bir dünya okuması sunmaktadır.
Hiçbir iktisadi teori Schumpeter tarafından dile getirilen yaratıcı yıkım teorisi kadar çarpıcı ve etkileyici olmamıştır. Kapitalizm değişen doğası ile oluşturmuş olduğu ya- pıyı 2008 krizi ile birlikte yıkarak yeniden oluşturmaktadır. Bu süreç içerisinde tüm eski yapılar işlevlerini ve anlamlarını yitirmekte, küreselleşmenin en önde gelen ak- törlerinden biri olan Avrupa Birliği’ni de ciddi bir şekilde etkilemektedir. Kapitalizmin yenilikler yolu ile alacağı yeni form yaşadığımız çağı tamamen değiştirecek, eski ve işlemeyen yapıları yıkarak yeni çağ kendisini ve kurumlarını yaşamakta olduğu tekno- lojik değişimlere paralel olarak inşa edecektir.
