How Many Projects Can You Have Started?

Image
In my case, apparently a ton or  seven to be exact!     In my defense, I started a prayer shawl for a friend who is going through a rough time right now.  I felt that it would help me to remember to pray for her daily.  I didn’t like the yarn. (see the mint green) I bought white. (not soft enough) I finally got to a Hobby Lobby and bought the blue variegated. Perfect.   To be fair, at least I prayed through all the ones I didn’t like.  They will still be fine for church donations,  just not quite special enough for my friend.    Then there is this stash above.  I found this great little yarn shop in Punsxutawney Pa.  Autumn House Fiber Works     The owner was so helpful finding me great yarns that were not wool and so many were on sale. I am learning new stitches and trying to expand my skills.   Then there is the Annie’s Kit Club that shows up ...

Kisses, Snow, Stash Busting

Image
Last weekend was spent in Hershey, Pennsylvania, sweetest place on Earth. Kisses Everywhere! On your soap   On your room number, bathroom wall, embossed on the sheets, soap, shampoo, and even on the parking spots.     And then the snow came. And kept coming! Yes, those are cars under there! Luckily, we had the foresight to move our vehicle to the covered parking lot before it started!   Definitely, one of our smarter moves!   On another note, update on the clean out!   382 items have left the house!     Over 10 percent done!

Guilty Pleasures.

Image
And... learn something new daily!    Yarn is a totally guilty pleasure.    Seems I can't walk into a store that sells yarn and not walk out with at least one skein!  These were yesterday's purchases. Even more guilty? New scarves for me!  Learn something new?   Bamboo yarn is awesome!  Soft, drapes well and nice to work with. Finished project tomorrow...hopefully! A second guilty pleasure? Boots!    I love them!  Love them even more on sale! What did I learn from that, you ask? Well, even when I was skinny back in the 70's when boots were popular, I had trouble finding ones that would fit my calves.   Now we are talking 110 pounds of skinny and I could not buy boots that would fit over my calves. Forty years and slightly  a lot more than 40 pounds later, it is no easier. Epiphany!  My calves are not too big! My feet are too small f...

Friday Morning Weekly Progress Report

Image
Doesn't that just sound all office and professional?  Friday Morning Weekly Progress Report.   I really do go over the past week at work on Fridays and make the list for the next week.   This is a Home Progress Report though.   Afghans. Six of them. One down, five to go and the progress on each.   Because if you live in an ADD world as I do... you know one project is never enough.   Forty-five or so is really the magic number and I guarantee I have at least that many projects started around here! Some are stashed, some are blatantly staring me in the face.   These are all the ones stashed in the living room, if you don't count the doodle art projects started in the one corner behind the couch.   Shhhh, let's keep that quiet! Hopefully next Friday I will have another one finished.   One a week would take me to.... December 19th... I might h...

Warm and Fuzzy?

Image
Looks all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it?  Soft and warm and cuddly?     In retrospect, everything I worked on yesterday had this look. Soft and pastel, fuzzy and warm, Even this painting, finished up in the AM, not my normal colors, but soft and pastel... Well, it didn't fit the mood of the day, believe me.   Hang on, because this is the brutal truth. I was mad. Mad at the World. When I get mad, I cry. Attempted to go to church. Barely holding it together, it was a bad decision.   Sometimes, I really believe that church attendance is not always a good choice.   And it wasn't.   I tried, quiet tears kept flowing....   until.... JWS looks at me and says, "If you didn't have Jesus in your heart right now, you would take off that high heel and drive it right through someone's forehead, wouldn't you?"   See, he gets me!   Slight chu...

Wrist Sweaters

Image
Shawnee has been suggesting these for awhile.   The other day when I told her that I couldn't get into anything, she suggested these again. and then the text suggestions started coming.   Patterns, pins, videos.   Lots of suggestions.   I took some ideas and went on my own.   Other than a YouTube video on broomstick lace.   Well, probably five or six videos until I found one that I understood.     But once I got started....   I just kept going and going   and going and even knitted one after I found several of these buckles in my button stash.     Blurry pics....not sure why...   So football is essentially over at my house, we aren't hockey fans... so you would think that we would watch something interesting.   Storage Wars, Call of the Wild and Duck Dynasty aside... Two of those I don't mind, one I leave the ...

Afghan Progression

Image
It sat on the coffee table from two days after Christmas until New Year's Eve. Then it had to be packed up and put in a basket. I just couldn't stand the mess any longer.  Still working on it, just not allowing it to take over the house any longer. Finished this over the break, or at least all that it my part of it. It is a gift for a friend and another friend is going to quilt it. Another I Spy quilt! And some knitting.... a hat and scarf to keep some little one warm.  There is a story about this yarn... I will leave that for another day.  Back to work today.  Wish I was happier about that!   I sure love being at home!

Twenty Eventful Days!

Image
As of the last post, I had returned from a nice restful weekend of painting. Wow, did I hit the ground running! Almost a week of fair preparation, mowing, decorating and even testing my limited carpentry skills. Two DD days, (Dialysis Driver) and Saturday brought the start of the fair. High School Rodeo on Saturday, Horse Pull & Kitchen help on Sunday, followed by the church service and the crowning of a new fair queen. A tearful farewell to last year's queen, who holds a really special place in our hearts. A visit overnight from the Pennsylvania State Fair Queen and her mother. Quick sheet changes.. and in moved Toodles the Clown and her son for the week. Better houseguests could not be found! They made themselves at home, and we enjoyed having them. The fair brings it's own form of exhaustion and we were tired when it was over. However, rest was not in the cards. My Dad was admitted to the ...
