December is here already?

It’s been another week of running and lists.    Chores and obligations and things that have to be done.   There doesn’t seem to be any down time built into all this.  I thought today was going to be the day and  last night, reminders came in for  orders that people want …yesterday!    This vine was a gift item,  that needed done.              The tree in Ford City needed decorated.  Not my best work,  but checked off the list in the freezing cold!  The half hour ride home with every heating accessory in my car on full blast, didn’t quite thaw me out!          This is one of the seven or eight quilt tops stacked up in  need of visiting the quilter. When I got this one back,  I gave her three more and said to space them out a little  for my pocketbook’s sake.   This one jus...

Samuel’s School

In December, I had the opportunity to travel to West Bengal, India on a mission trip with my church. Six of us made the trip to care for the children of mission workers who would be attending a conference there.   The last full day that we were there we went to a school in a nearby village and met Samuel who runs the school there.  He is a converted Hindu and teaches Hindu children a Christian based curriculum in English.   His school has been very successful because of the high quality of education he is providing.   This allows him to present the gospel to children and their parents often.  The problem?  He has more students than classroom space.  And three swings for over 200 children!  Such well behaved children! Such even lines!  Some of the older children are having outside class! They are starting a classroom on the second floor.  Here is where my part of the story comes in.   Samuel’s school was my moment.  That moment ...

School Days

So hard to believe that this little one is now going! Where did that time go? She loved it, the best part, as she told me, was riding the bus! Kendall was on hand to see her off. And Mommy tearfully said "Good-bye" at the bus. Who am I kidding? It was not tearfully, not dab your eyes, misty-eyed sad... it was bawling, sobbing, gasping for breath, make a scene all out near hysteria.. sad.   It was a rough one for Shawnee.   These two, on the other hand, are veterans of day one. Their mom was a little misty eyed, though.   For the first time in eight years, we are without a child at work with us.   Not to worry, in two weeks we get Kendall three times a week.   JWS' comment, "You just couldn't do without a child here at work, it was too much to not run a day care along with work."   Yep!

First Day of School

How many pics are there just like this? I see them everywhere! I wanted one of him getting on the bus, but in his busy little way.... He grabbed my camera because he wanted to take a picture of his bus pulling up. He got someone else's truck... and then the bus! And this is all I got of him getting on the bus. See those little feet? How can they be ready for school? And Logan had his own school bus. I seriously underestimated how much those two entertained one another. Until... Gramma, how do you spell youtube? Gramma, how do you spell Brunswick Pro? I can spell Bowling myself! Gramma, come look at this! Gramma, read this to me! Gramma, please play just one game of bowling on the computer with me! Gramma, when are we going to the candy store? Gramma Gramma Gramma Gramma, when is my brother going to be home? And some painting... and an order. And some ornaments. Twelve down and Eighty-Eight to go. I should have started on this order way sooner!
