The Legend of the Dogwood and Wedding Day...

The dogwoods are in full bloom just in time for Easter!  I stopped on my way out yesterday to snap these pictures!

I always share The Legend of the Dogwood!  Worth reading again!

After the funeral yesterday, Tracy, Alex, Avery and I enjoyed some time together!  Lunch, lots of giggles and some retail therapy!  We have a wedding this afternoon and it looks like the weather is going to be perfect!  Can't wait to watch these two get married!  My Great-Nephew Joseph and "soon to be wife" Kelsey!

Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

I finally met him...

After almost a week, I finally got to meet my Great-Nephew Waylon!  He is a tiny little fella and SO cute!  It brought tears to my eyes when I saw this adorable little miracle baby.  Kimberly and Justin shared their little boy with me and I enjoyed my visit with them SO much!  He won't be tiny long and I pray that each day finds this little family growing together:)

Today is Good Friday... I will be attending a funeral for my Brother-in-law Jeff's grandmother this morning, so I gotta get moving!  Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Beach, birthday, babies...

Well, I'm back from a quick trip to the beach with 3 of the 7 grandchildren!  SO much fun but I had to get back for this girl's birthday:)  Avery turned 12 yesterday and her sweet Mama made her cookies for her classmates!  Avery and her "Super-mama"

Tracy can really make some pretty AND tasty cookies, these are for her baby girl!

Avery chose what she wanted for dinner and the kind of cake she wanted.  Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Avery, Happy Birthday to you!  Dinner, cake and gifts... sweet day to remember!

A break from the ocean for a little shopping:)  Maybree, Madison and Maverick!  They will keep you moving for sure!  I enjoyed being with them so much!

This guy stopped right in front of me, take my picture:)  SO I did!

Honey please!  Bradley's family is in town and Connor got to meet Waylon last night!  Cindy sent me this picture last night of her Grandsons Connor and Waylon!  Sweet picture melts my heart!

I am behind on everything!  My laundry is backed up, I need groceries, hair appointment MUST today and I need to catch up with all of you!  ALSO, I am going to see this sweet little baby today if they are up for a visit!  There you have it, a trip to the beach is good but tiring "to and fro"!  Have a blessed day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

This should help...

This should help anything that ails this old gal:)  That's what I think we all need occasionally is a little sand and the sound of the surf:)  Add a bunch of Grandkids (pictures to follow) and it's my kinda day!

Have a blessed day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Nothing is impossible, but...

Well, maybe this isn't true everyday, but it is true some days!  I didn't accomplish much yesterday, my sofa was where I spent much of my day.  I just couldn't get my motor running or even humming!  The pollen (yes I am talking about the pollen again) just drags me down.  I am going to the health food store today to see if I can find something to rid my body of the junk!  I promise today is NOT going to be a "do nothing" day!  On my list... getting my taxes done, buying Easter goodies for my Grandchildren and a Wedding gift!  Perhaps I will find a new dress for the wedding:)

So, in order to accomplish anything instead of nothing... I gotta get moving!  I am finishing my coffee and getting my "get up and get at it" attire on:)  Before I leave the house, I am making the Salisbury steak recipe in the crock-pot!  Hope it is as yummy as it looks:)  Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Don't like pollen, love cabbage...

It's the price we pay for Spring arriving:(  POLLEN is not my friend!  I am accepting any tips on natural remedies to keep this nasty pollen out of my body!  I don't want to wear a mask, but it is tempting.  This was what the parking lot looked like at Kroger yesterday, YUCK!

This is what we had for dinner yesterday!  I forgot to take a picture after I took them out of the oven, I guess I was too excited to eat:)  Cabbage steaks, smoked sausage and cornbread!  YUMMILICIOUS!  Here is the link on how to cook them!  I LOVE cabbage!

It is mighty chilly here this morning, my coffee is hot and my fleece robe feels good:)  I see where lots of folks are getting snow, sounds better than pollen to me:)  Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Spring arrives and a stormy night...

Spring arrives later today and I am happy about that:)  Last night wasn't any fun at all!  It was a STORMY night with thunderstorm warnings and possible tornadoes.  Thankfully there were no tornadoes where we live but I had our safe place ready "just in case"!  Lots of hail came down overnight and hopefully our metal roof didn't get any damage!  BUT... SPRING arrives later today,
I will focus on that:)

Let's skip into Spring and look forward to NO MORE cold weather:)  Have a blessed day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Keep your eyes open today...

Keep your eyes open today!  One of the things Spring brings is threatening weather!  Today is a day that the weather folks are saying could bring strong winds and hail with the possibility of tornadoes!  I had planned on getting out today, now I am just not sure:(  Pay attention family and friends.

Have a blessed day dear friends, sending HUGS and PROTECTIVE PRAYERS your way!

Together...

Together is my favorite place to be:)  I have spent the last few days being together with family and have enjoyed every single moment!  Visiting, chatting, eating, shopping and hugging:)

The final show was last night!  I know that Alex and Avery are tired, but I believe they will miss it:)  I saw two of the four shows, Autumn and Tracy watched ALL four!  It was amazing to see it all come together, the costumes and the songs were awesome!

Spring is almost upon us and I am ready to plant some flowers:)  The weather folks say "not yet".  It sounds like there is at least one more cold spell to come.  My Daddy always said to wait until after Easter to plant your garden and that's what we are doing... waiting!  Enjoy your Sunday dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

A night out, another performance and a b'day...

It was a fun day yesterday!  It started out with a visit from my Daughter Tracy and Granddaughter Autumn, we visited a friend and her little boy!  We had a wonderful evening with Marc's oldest daughter Marcy and her friend Glenn!  We had not met Glenn until last night but it felt like we had known him forever.

Persian food?  I had never had it but was it ever yummy:)

After a long dinner sitting and talking, we headed home!  The sky was SO beautiful:)  It is always hard to capture the way it really looks thru my eyes, but I always take a picture anyway!

While we were at dinner, ALL of Tracy's children were together at the girl's musical:)  She sent me this picture and I replied "be still my heart"!

Add in their Mom:)  GREAT picture Tracy, I know you were happy to have them all together!

Austin's girlfriend Lexie and her Mama Cassie went to the production too and dinner afterwards!  I miss seeing them, thanks for thinking of me Tracy and sending this picture:)

Saturday March 17th, it's not only St. Patrick's day but my niece Regina's birthday!  Happy Birthday Regina (I call her Begima)!  I hope you have a wonderful day!  I love you!  Little kids ALL grown up now, on the porch at my Mama and Daddy's house.  L-R My Niece Glenda, My Daughter Tracy, My Sister Cindy and The Birthday girl Regina!

I will be finishing my coffee and heading out later to see the musical again:)  I am looking forward to seeing it and being with my little family!  Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

A star is born, well two of them...

What a show, what a show! "A person's a person, no matter how small."  The first public performance is behind them!  IT WAS AWESOME!

NO photos or movies were allowed during the show, boo hoo:(  After the costumes were taken off, Pa and I grabbed the girls for a picture!  THEY both did a great job and I am SO happy we bought tickets to see it again tomorrow!

Autumn surprised her Sisters with a visit to see them perform!  What a sweet surprise it was!  We had dinner at the Varsity (yes again) and enjoyed our time with Autumn:)  Baby Brooklyn was there too:)

It was a late night and I slept in a bit this morning!  Tonight we are having dinner with Marc's oldest daughter Marcy!  She is in town from Florida, can't wait to see her!  Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Our Granddaughters, Alex and Avery, have practiced daily for "Seussical the Musical" and today is the day they get to perform in front of a live audience.  They will do two shows today for the school and we get to see them tonight!  I am sooooo excited!  This picture was posted yesterday, Alex bottom right:)

I am up and at 'em them morning, coffee is hot and the sun isn't even up yet!  I hope you have a beautifully blessed day!  Sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Don't wake me up...

If you know me, you know that I go to bed early and after I go to sleep, don't wake me up:)  Sleep is hard to come by at my age, I cherish every sleeping moment.  Well, yesterday morning my home phone rang (yes, I still have a land-line) at 5:09 AM.  I jumped up to see who was calling, was it a family emergency (thankfully no)... it was a sales call for Medical Alarms.  NO I didn't answer it and couldn't go back to sleep.  I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry, nobody should call that early!!!  Anybody else get unwanted calls, we have lots of them!

I am drinking my coffee, watching the morning news and needing to get moving this morning.  It's a chilly day outside but with errands to run, I'll get out in it later!  Have a blessed day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

What'll ya have...

My Daughter Tracy was out of town with my Grand-daughter Autumn seeing the ultrasound of my GREAT-Granddaughter Brooklyn:)  I helped transport Alex and Avery to their musical practice in Athens which just so happened to be next to "The Varsity".  What'll ya have?  I wasn't hungry but enjoyed one of their famous hot dogs.  We drove around Athens, found a Starbucks and then it was time for practice.  I told the girls that I needed to have my picture made with the hat for my Sister Barbara.  Every time she knows I am going to Athens, she says that I need to go to the Varsity:)  This one is for you Nanny:)

The girls are practicing a couple more times and then it is time for the production!  I can't wait.  They have practiced most every day and they are almost finished.  It's almost showtime:)  We will enjoy seeing them perform and yes, most likely more Varsity hot dogs:)  Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

The answer is NO...

The answer to this is NO!  I can get used to either time but why can't we just leave it alone?  I hear that Florida is thinking of keeping Daylight Saving time year round, hmmmm perhaps I should move there:)  The way I handle it (or try to) is... change all of the clocks before bedtime and settle down a little earlier.  I just try to make it work, not liking it but trying to adjust.

We slept a little later this morning, it was STILL DARK and time to get up!  Oh well, sipping my coffee and trying to get moving!

Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!  YAWN:)

Missed my bloggerversary...

This was my first blog on March 2, 2009!  SERIOUSLY? 3057 blog posts

****************************
I have enjoyed Kelly's blog and her bloggers soooo much that I decided to create my own:) I am new at it so please forgive me in advance if it doesn't work. I will try not to bore you with too many details which I am known for doing. I think my life is wonderful. I worked for 30 years and have been retired for almost 7... love it, love it, love it!

Some people are called Nanny, Granny, Mimi, Grandmother, Grammy, Gigi, Memaw, Mawmaw etc. My grandchildren, at least the oldest decided to call me Ganky. So therefore, that is who I am! I love my grandchildren and my family more than life itself. Here is a picture of my family from Christmas. I have one daughter who is also my best friend in the whole world (far right in pic)!

I have been married for 23 years to my wonderful husband and we are two peas in a pod, so different in personalities but I think that is why we get along soooo good! He had two children when we married and they have been like my own for all these years.

I LOVE to shop! No really, I LOVE to shop! Many days that is what I do, I will think of something I need, wink wink, and off I go looking for it. I love estate sales and go to every one that isn't out of state or at least within a 50 mile radius. That is my mental cut-off point and I refuse to go any farther. I have too much stuff that I certainly don't need to buy anything else but just can't refuse a bargain, it runs in the family:)

I am blessed to have a huge family! 3 sisters and 2 brothers. We love each other and are joined at the heart! L to R... Me (Ganky) Leon, Brenda, Marshall, Cindy and seated in front, Barbara... AKA Dearrrrrrrrr Nanny! Or as the bloggers know her, Barbo.

I could go on and on but will stop for now! I need a new coffee maker and new cordless phones... I REALLY do need them:)

Love to all and have a blessed day!

SO...  That was what I had to say NINE years ago.  Not much has changed, I still love my daily journal.  I have now been retired 17 years, married 32 years and I don't love to shop as much as I did back then:)  Some of the people in the first picture aren't in our family anymore and we have added some new ones:)  I am going to choose someone from today's comments and send a little prize, just to thank you for following along on my little blog!  Have a blessed day, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Driving Mrs. Cindy...

My Sister Cindy is having surgery on her wrist this morning and I will be her chauffeur!  This picture is several years old but one of my favorites:)  She has had lots of pain with this wrist and I pray that this will get her all fixed up!  Love you Cindy!

Up early this morning, drinking my coffee and checking the news/weather!  Enjoy your day dear friends, I'll catch up with you all later!  Sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!

Flowers and food...

Flowers and food, that's mostly what I talk about lately:)  It was cold outside yesterday morning, I grabbed my phone to see if these pretties had opened and yes they had.  A friend of mine gave me a sack full of bulbs several years ago for Christmas.  The gift that keeps on giving:)

I love having food ready at dinner time that was started early in the day.  Baked potatoes in the crock pot.  Wash them, pierce them with a fork, rub with olive oil, salt and put in the crock pot.  NO water, 4-5 hours on high or all day on low.  Butter, bacon bits, cheese... YUM!  We had pork chops, asparagus with these babies:)

I tried something different last night with corn on the cob.  I found the idea on a recipe site and decided to give it a try.  Fill the pot partly with water, bring to a boil, add a cup of milk and a stick of butter:)  OH YEAH!  We had a delicious meal.  Meatloaf, corn and broccoli casserole.  No plans for dinner yet today.  Hopefully I will have something else to talk about soon:)  Enjoy your day dear friends, sending HUGS and PRAYERS your way!
