Vintage Juice Glasses

I haven't been doing much thrift shopping but I did stop in one store a few weeks ago and found something I really love!
My first real Swanky Swigs!
Made by Hazel-Atlas for Kraft products these two glasses held Old English Cheese spread and are called Daisy... I paid 25 cents each!
I was so excited!  I have seen these glasses in many Antique Malls but always felt the price was more then I wanted to pay. So to find these at such a bargain price makes them that more loved!

I also found these two glasses
Made by the Federal Glass company they were also only 25 cents each.  In doing research I found many small juice glasses referred to as Swanky Swigs but they aren't.  I plan to do more research and do a post about this.
I also found this....
I think this medium size pitcher was also made by Federal Glass company but plan to do more research...this was only $1.51 and I think it is really cute!

I'm joining these parties
and

Don't forget our first Gratitude Party Sunday
I'll try to have the link up on Sat evening by 7pm
Hope you will join me!

Wishing you JOY,
Linda

I Love Glass

I love glass!
Clear, Blue, Amber, Red, Green
Today I'm sharing another one of my favorite pieces
This lovely covered compote was found at a thrift shop...coated with dirt and grease
Still I saw it's beauty!  Lots of soap and scrubbing
and this gorgeous thing came to life
I keep candy in it when it's out on the coffee table
Not a bad for under $3

Tweak It Tuesday

I am starting to bring out the fall colors in my home decor.
Today I 'tweaked' the window a bit!
I love my blue glass and keep this in the window most of the year! But in the Fall I bring out the few pieces of glass I have in.....
Amber!
Brings fall into the dining room!
This creamer is my newest piece of amber glass and my favorite!
I like the leaf on this little amber box

A Favorite Thing~Blue Decanter

This week I'm sharing one of my treasures.   It's not a childhood item or a family item but one that I have had for almost 40 years
This amazing hand blow blue decanter!
Here is it's story...
Back in the early 1970's I lived on Cape Cod.  A boyfriend and I were helping clean out an apartment after a friend had moved out.  This blue decanter was left there with ugly dried weeds in it.   The boyfriend found it first and said 'oh I'm keeping this'.  I fell in love with it at first sight and told him I really really wanted it.
The boyfriend said I think it's old
and I really like it!
I said I love it!!
Of course he teased me awhile but finally said I could have it but I had to promise not to sell it or get rid of it ever!  The boyfriend is long gone but the lovely blue decanter remains one of my favorite things!
For many years I had no information about this decanter.  I 'think' it is an old piece of Blenko glass.  All I know is...I love it!
I am really excited about this new party at Mockingbird Hill Cottage!
Each Saturday we show a 'favorite thing' and tell it's story!  This is only the second party so I hope you will pop over and visit Claudia and join in all the fun!

Linda

100th Seasonal Sunday!

Congratulations to The Tablescaper for her 100th
Seasonal Sunday Party! and to help her celebrate her Third Blog Anniversary!

We 'Tablescapers' have quite the collection of dishes, napkins, tablecloths, napkin rings, candles, flatware, accessories of all kinds and so much more!
When you love it the problem develops of
"Where do you keep it all???"
So here are some of the many spots in my home I store my tablescaping goodies!
I am so lucky to have a small walk in closet in the spare bedroom that I have taken over for my dishes
These photos are from last year and I must say not much has changed...maybe a few more dishes??
A few more place mats....
A few more random linens
My napkins have outgrown their current location and need to be sorted and another storage solution figured out
This is my large china cabinet and it is full to brim with glasses, serving pieces and other decorating items.  I hope to clean it out at some point and really organize it but haven't yet!
I am lucky to have several shelving units in my basement that hold many other items that need sorting!  Its a never ending job for a collector/tablescaper!

I did move this small shelving unit into my breakfast nook for my Pyrex and some Fiesta ware on the bottom.  I use the Pyrex much more now that I can get to it easily!
Including my Pyrex fridgies!

Well that's most of it!  Of course I have some sets of dishes boxed up in the basement and other dishes in my cabinets but the majority is in the dish closet!

Congrats again to The Tablescaper!
I hope you will go by and visit her!

Hugs,
Linda

Earth Day ~ Let's Dish

Before I share photos of my tablescape for Kathleen's challenge of "The Good Earth" I must admit I put this together in a hurry and last minute before leaving for my trip to Texas.
I didn't want to miss joining but you might see a few 'spots' on the dishes and other less then perfect shots.

The first thing that came to mind for this challenge was earth colors and these new plates and bowls I had picked up at the thrift store were just right
The black, brown and grey colors seemed perfect!
My other inspiration was the adorable mushroom place card holders I won from Kathleen in the fun St Patrick's Day Blog Crawl.  Perfect for such an earth-y table.
You can see the pattern on the plates in this photo.  I added a black plate, rattan charger and a black napkin to the setting.
The flatware is from World Market and a perfect shade of putty on a brown placemat
Vintage brown wine glass and a black champagne glass were added to the table
A green plant was the easiest centerpiece (and what I had...) I added a sweet bird on the rattan charger in the same colors as the plate pattern
These Mushroom salt and pepper shakers were found on the World Longest Yard Sale and have been waiting for just the right tablescape for them to appear
Very simple but it adds to the theme of
Earth Day

Thank you Kathleen for hosting such a fun party
and for The Good Earth challenge!
Please be sure to visit Cuisine Kathleen for
Let's Dish and see many more lovely tablescapes!

Glass

I have loved clear glass for a long time
There is just something about it that appeals to me
I was going through some files and came across some random photos I thought I would share with you
All of these pieces were thrifted and are vintage
Boopie glass, Sandwich pattern glass and a refrigerator dish

More Sandwich pattern glass!  This bird has a small hole in the top to hang in a window...I just love it!
