YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU WILL FIND!

One of my favorite things about thrifting, yard sales and junkin, is that you never know what you will find!

These cute little Christmas Angels were marked 99 cents each but it was Sr Day so I got them for 75 cents each!
I love their faces.  They are marked Homeco.  Sometimes the best Holiday items are found off season!
Like this round Christmas tablecloth.  $1 at my junkie thrift store
I love the fringe and the retro design
I also found this dip bowl with the hanger at the junkie thrift.  It was 50 cents.  I know I will find the chip dish as I see them all the time.  What is hard to find is the hanger!  It needs some cleaning but I was excited to find this.

I found this green canister for $1.98
I love the details

This yellow Fiesta demitasse cup
also $1.98...I love the handle

I almost didn't buy this but it was only 35 cents and I figured someone would like it.

So these are my latest finds.
I'm joining Suzanne for

and

Diann for the first
Thanks again for taking the Friday party Diann....I'm excited to join in this first week!  Please go join Diann as she has a giveaway also.  This girl knows how to party!!!

Happy Junkin,

Linda

JUNKIN FINDS FRIDAY #21 & A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Welcome to the 21st JUNKIN FINDS FRIDAY!   I hope you have all had a great week and have some awesome finds to share today!  But first I have an announcement to make.
This will be the final Junkin Finds Friday.
I have been struggling with this decision for several months.  As you know my daughter is having her first baby any time now.  I am going to be helping her when the baby is born and then again this summer.  I do not feel that I can give the party the commitment it and you deserve.   So reluctantly I decided I could no longer host JFF.  My first thought was to contact one of my favorite bloggers and good friend Diann from The Thrifty Groove.  Diann gave it some thought and has agreed to take over the Friday party!  I am so thrilled!  Diann's blog was one of the first I found, she has been a mentor to me and we have become really great friends!  I think this is a perfect fit for her and all of you.  Diann will host the party starting next Friday April 1st.  I encouraged her to make it her own and she has decided to tweak the name of the party a little bit....
It will now be called

Diann thank you so much and I can't wait to join you next Friday!
Please everyone go visit Diann and get to know her if you don't already.  She has an incredible blog and is the best thrifter I know!  You will love her just like I do!

Here are my Junkin Finds this week....
I love this old recipe keeper and this crochet pot holder
$1 on half price day
I have some plates that match this cup
only 50 cents...

I got two plates for $1.
They are the 'El Verde' pattern by MS (Max Schonfeld) Kilns. The plates sell for $12 at Replacements.com

I had lunch today with my friend Sandie.  We stopped at a thrift and I found some really great items
I found these two Sandwich Glass cups for 99 cents each.
I love this pattern and now have 4 cups in my collection.  These were giveaways inside Crystal Wedding Brand oats.

I nearly jumped for joy when I saw this hammered aluminum tray for only $1.48
The maker mark is Wendell August in Grove City, PA.
This company has been making hand forged aluminum pieces for 77 years.  The quality of this piece is wonderful.
The pinecone pattern is so pretty!
Again I want to thank all of you for your support of this party and my blog.  I appreciate each and every one of you! I'll see you next week at
Thrifty Things Friday!

Please link up your post and not just your blog and include a link back to the party in your post!

Happy Junkin,
Linda

WHATS UP WEDNESDAY 3-23-11 & GIVEAWAY!

Spring has sprung here in Georgia and so I continue my love/hate relationship with it.  I love the flowers and how beautiful the world is after winter's sleep.  I hate the headaches and congestion from my allergies!  Sigh...like I said love/hate!

I just got a new phone....an Android and I love it.  Checking emails and the web when out and about will be fun!  I'm still learning all the ins and outs but think I will be happy with it.
We are still on Baby Watch.  Sara is due April 10th but was told she probably won't make it that long and could go into labor any day!  We are hoping it won't be until April so that Tiger will get a little bigger!  Sara is feeling great and doing well.  This was last week when I visited her.  We washed baby clothes and got everything ready!
She is all baby in the front!

I just realized that I had gone over the 500 followers mark!  WOW!  I am so happy that so many of you out there enjoy my blog and my thrifty finds.
So of course we have a giveaway!
I made a Spring vignette for you!
This plate is 'Wildflower Meadow' by Marjoleim Bastin
A white porcelain bird
and a creamer you can add flowers or a candle to the vignette!  The soft gray picks up colors in the plate.

I also will include these
So many of you commented on the egg cups from yesterdays post, so they will be included along with this cute Easter kitchen towel!

How to win?
1) You MUST be a follower!  This is a followers giveaway so that makes sense right?  Leave one comment that you are a follower of
A La Carte.

2) Tell me you favorite thing about Spring

That's it!  Two chances to win!
I will pick a winner and announce it next Wed March 30th
Thanks again to everyone for all your support of my blog.  It is such a joy to have made so many new friends sharing what I love!

Hugs to you all!
Linda

SUNDAY FAVORITE

Today I'm joining Chari at Happy to Design for

Sunday Favorites!

I first posted this April 20, 2010

LE COQ D'ORANGE

Today is Thursday and time for all of us to play with our dishes and create a tablescape  We get to share these with everyone thanks to our wonderful Hostess Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

My tablescape today was inspired by a wonderful giveaway I won from one of my favorite blogs THE THRIFTY GROOVE .  Diann is one of the best blogging friends you could ask for and always has such thrifty and fun finds.  March was her Blog Anniversary and she had several giveaways.  I was lucky enough to win these....

(This is the photo from Diann's blog)

I was in Texas when I won this and could hardly wait to get home and check out this fabulous gift.  She also sent me some other really cute, sweet and funny items.  Thanks Diann you are the best.
Here is my table set for Dinner for Two
These cute little Roosters were part of the gift
 I kept trying different plates
until I found just the right combination

These Chargers are so large and such wonderful colors
The pattern is called Orange Rooster
I started with a green place mat to pick up the colors in the roosters tail and in the sunflower leaves
I added a vibrant yellow Harlequin plate
Then I added a dark green Fiesta lunch plate
Finished it with a smaller scalloped edge creamy yellow plate
Then topped it with the off white Roosters that Diann included in the gift
I used off white handled silverware
A green water goblet and a amber wine glasses
In this photo I used yellow handled silverware
I couldn't decide which I liked better so it looks like I left one yellow and one off white set on the table
I used soft yellow napkins in a clear glass napkin ring edged with gold
I found these cute Rooster Salt & Pepper shakers
in my dish closet.  They were a Goodwill find, made in Japan
I like this table with lots of warm colors
Diann I love these Chargers and they just might end up on my wall
they are that pretty!

Hope you enjoyed this encore tablescape!

Always,
Linda
