A New 'Tweaking' Party

I was really excited to see a post from Brenda at Cozy Little House announcing her new party!
Tweak It Tuesday!
As most of my followers know I'm a junker and I love to fit my finds into my home!
I decided to 'tweak' the 4th of July cubbies by adding a few Olympic items!
I added a few English items also!
Like this cute mini Union Jack teapot I won in a Giveaway back when Will & Kate got married
Atlanta hosted the 1996 Olympics and while I didn't attend any events I did get a few souvenirs like these golf balls and pin!
This is my favorite pin from the 1996 Games
I did get to see part of the torch run as it went through my town and several friends were torch bearers.  I even got to hold it for a moment...now where is that photo???  It was so exciting!
This is a commemorative envelope from the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona.  My daughters gymnastics coach gave it to me as a thank you gift for all my help.

So that's my 'TWEAK' today!
Go on over to Brenda's and check out this new party!  I'm also joining one of favorite blog parties
Your Gonna Love It Tuesday!

Go USA!!

Linda

A Dozen For A Dollar!

You know how sometimes you just walk into a good deal?  That happened to me last week.  I stopped in a thrift store I usually pass by and hit a great sale!  All the plates and glasses were 10 cents each or 12 for $1
Here is my dozen for a dollar!
I love these glasses and found 6 of them
They had been in the dishwasher a few times but I still thought they had enough beauty left in them for 10 cents each.
Two Made In Italy Plates for my tablescaping
Love the colors on these!
I'm always on the lookout for basics for my dish closet and these two cream colored plates are perfect!
That gave me 10 items....so here are the random choices for my bonus pieces!
I love this hand blown martini glass from Mexico and I wish there had been two of them but one will just have to do!
This glass just caught my eye
and I think it would make a really pretty votive holder!

Not a bad haul for $1

Now the winner of the WLYS
"Let Me Shop For You" contest is

Sandie from Chatty Crone!
I will be contacting you for some ideas of what to shop for!   I'm so excited!!
Thanks to all of you who entered!

Christmas In July

I am melting in this heat!  Hoping to feel cooler,
I decided to look back on some Christmas tablescapes and join in the
Christmas In July fun!
This Blue & White table from 2010 makes me feel cooler just looking at it!

I also set the table using my Winterberry dishes in 2010

This was a quick tablescape in Dec 2011

Using these thrifted salad plates as my theme

Tablescaping brings me much JOY!

Tiger Time

I've been enjoying some Tiger Time while my daughter Sara re-cooperates from wisdom teeth surgery!  Here is Sara right after the surgery!
Drugged up and wads of gauze in her mouth!
I am happy to say she is doing great and I'm heading home today!
It was hard for Tiger to understand 'Mama Sick' but he was pretty good about it.  When she was able to get out of bed he stayed glued to her!
Tiger's Language skills are increasing daily
He loves to 'talk' and has a large vocabulary
I even heard Grandma a few times
We read lots of books and Grandma even got down on Tiger's new 'floor' and played cars and trucks!
This old house has wooden floors and they can be hard on a little one (and a old one also)...  I found these great cushioned floor tiles at Sam's and we covered Tiger's bedroom floor.  He loves it and plays in here all the time!
Tiger has a set of real drums to play and he does!
Daddy on the guitar!
I will miss my sweet baby but I'll be back soon!
Bye Bye Tiger!  Grandma Loves You!

WLYS 2012!!

With everything going on in my life I almost missed planning for
This will be the 5th year Mr ALC and I have gone to WLYS .  Last year was a disappointment (so hot & fewer sellers) so this year we are making it a shorter trip and I think we will enjoy it more!
Still I always find some treasures on this trip!
I thought I would take a little trip down memory lane and share some of my favorite items from each years sale
2008
My first time at this sale with Mr ALC!
This Milk Glass chicken was one of my first buys in 2008
Three milk glass bowls all bought separately
I was really into Milk Glass in 2008
This amazing bowl was only 25 cents!

2009
In 2009 this was one of my favorite finds
$20 for this complete set
These cute S&P's were 50 cents and one of my last finds on this trip

2010
I was blogging this year and really enjoyed taking photos of my trip!  First year of the 'Let Me Shop For You' giveaway!
This 50 cent little orphan salt shaker was one of my favorite finds of 2010!
I fell crazy in love with this little green elf!
This was my best year of shopping for sure!

2010's shop for you winner was
Becky and this was what I bought for her!

2011
Last year was a rough year. We took a longer trip and with the economy, heat and fewer dealers we were disappointed.  Of course we STILL managed to find some great stuff!
I found my first Pink Gooseberry Pyrex bowl for $3
Two lovely glass blue birds for $1each
This little Avon bird was only .50
My favorite find of 2011 this mini Brownie camera
Last year's shop for you winner was Deb
These were her goodies!

Ooh La La!!

When Kathleen gave us our Let's Dish challenge for July, it made me very happy!
Our theme is A Destination Tablescape
So come join me as we prepare for our trip to
If your a follower of A La Carte you know that Paris has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager.  This past Mother's Day my daughter Ashleigh gifted me with a trip to Paris, France which I will take sometime in 2013

This table is a fun way to prepare for my trip!
These Paris dessert plates were found at two different thrift stores.
 I love them of course!
I used the colors from the dessert plate to make this black, white and red table
All of these plates were thrifted. Red charger plate, black Fiesta plate, red salad plate and the fun desert plates!
I bought the black and white placemats at Dollar Tree
A black stemmed wineglass to toast with
The centerpiece is my collection of items from or about Paris, France
The postcard is from a friends trip to Paris.  The small Eiffel Tower souvenir was brought back from Paris by my daughter Sara when she went with her High School Choir! She had an amazing time and her choir was able to sing in Notre Dame!

My Paris travel guide and a 'French for Travellers' book are topped by a larger Eiffel Tower that was a gift to Mr ALC!
Anytime I receive a card with a Paris theme it joins my collection!
This Eiffel Tower tealight holder was also thrifted
A simple black napkin and a red napkin ring along with my red handled flatware complete this setting
I want to try a crockpot Coq Au Vin recipe

Parlez-vous Francais?
Un peu!

Guess I better start studying!  It's been many years since High School French!

Thanks Kathleen for hosting

au revoir!

Tupperware anyone?

If you are a 'certain' age you must remember Tupperware parties.  I went to many as a young Mom in the 1970's and even sold Tupperware for a short time.  I loved doing the parties but was not 'pushy' enough with my sales and made little to no money doing it.  Still I got some awesome stuff!
Remember these canisters?  I had them in the gold color.
This was the 1970's after all!
This little booklet is selling on ebay for $15
If only I'd kept my dealer things I could be rich!
By selling Tupperware I was able to buy at a discount and not only did I get some great items for my kitchen
I got this for my girls!

Now that Tiger is a little older I went in search of the dishes I knew I must have kept for my future Grandkids!
Oh my, these bring back memories!
The perfect 1970's colors!
Harvest Gold, Avocado Green, Brown and Orange
I had fun playing with these...I made the 'tablescape' using an old napkin as the tablecloth
A Vera napkin from the 1970's
I found a few pieces of the baking set also!
Sara loved to use PlayDoh with her dishes and there was still some on the pieces!  After giving them a good bath, I will take some of these dishes to Tiger!

Bringing back memories is always fun!
Did you have lots of Tupperware in your home?
Did you have any of the Toys or Dishes?

Smiles,
Linda
