Afro-Kemetic intellectual traditions

Nsw.t Bjt.j (King) in Ancient Egyptian: A Lesson in Paronymy and Leadership takes a fresh look into the meaning of the name Nsw.t Bjt.y (Nesut Bity “King”) in the ancient ci.Kam (Egyptian) languages using the analytical tools of anthropological linguistics and comparative cultural anthropology. Its aim is to explicate from primary sources—and from related African languages and cultures—the methods that inspire the various conceptual and emblematic associations related to ancient Egyptian kingship in particular and African kingship in general. In addition, Nsw.t Bjt.j also explores the primary functions and duties of the African king (and queen) in an effort to develop a framework for creating effective leaders in the modern African world community.

Asar Imhotep’s exploratory research has allowed him to develop what he calls the Afro-Symmetry Model to explain the mechanisms involved in the psychological formation of certain African spiritual, cultural, and artistic conceptualizations, practices, and motifs that have come to define pre-Western thought and being. One of these mechanisms is linguistic paronymy, which is a major source of African myths and rituals.

When they talk or write about history of the Oromo Nation of the contemporary Ethiopia, colonial historians and their students begin only from 16th century. Even that’s about Oromo ‘coming’ or ‘migration’ or, nowadays, ‘movement’ or ‘expansion’. Ethiopian schools teach or miseducate our children the same theme. However, early Egyptologists had to first study Afaan Oromo in order to understand Ancient Kemet hieroglyphics and texts. Similarly, early Assyriologists had to study Afaan Oromo in order to decipherer Babylonian cuneiform texts. Moreover, comparative theologians used Afaan Oromo and culture to understand the origin of major religions of the world. Early African travellers, too, were convinced that Afaan Oromo was not only the lingua franca of Africa up until 19th century CE, but was possibly the language of the Ancient Egyptian, Ancient Nile Valley or possibly even of Hittite from which was Indo-European languages emerged as offshoot. Adopting an Africology and evolutionary linguistics perspective, this study shall exploit classical and contemporary archives and explores the linguistic, epistemological,  theological and relational power of Afaan Oromo in explaining Africa’s pre-history as well as classical, medieval and modern era Africa’s and Ethiopia’s history. The historiographical and social epistemological importance of the findings to historians, linguists and policy-makers are highlighted.

There could not be worse time for a polytheist pharaoh to merge Kush / Ethiopia and Egypt under his scepter. The monotheistic emperors of Assyria Sharrukin (722 – 705 BCE; Sharru Kinu: ´Stable King´ in Assyrian; also known as Sargon, through his mention in Ancient Greek historiography) and Sennacherib (705 – 681 BCE; Sin Ahe Eriba: ´Sin has elevated the brother´ in Assyrian) reassessed the Assyrian monotheistic imperial ideology, as heirs of the Sumerian – Akkadian universalist ideal, and reigned as "Emperors of the Universe". This signified unprecedented military expansionism, exportation of Assyrian administration to all the faraway places of the immense empire, and elimination of all polytheistic priesthoods and associate administrations from the invaded territories. From Caucasus to the central parts of Arabia, and from the Iranian plateau to Cyprus and the westernmost confines of today´s Turkey, an area of ca. 3.3 million km2 was ruled by one emperor – for the first time in the History of the Mankind.

This study provides a foundational framework for Afrocentric translation. Afrocentric translation in which Afrikan languages and their Pan-Afrikan cultural context, transgenerationally and transcontinentally, are central in the interpretation of Afrikan texts (written or oral) and, thus, ensuring that Afrikan people are the subjects in the episteme of the translation process. The two languages of focus in this study are Medew Netcher, the Kemetic language, and the Jamaican language. The basic grammatical features of Medew Netcher will be explained from an Afrocentric perspective through Jamaican translations. More specifically, the analysis shows that the equational juxtaposition system reflects the Afrikan notion of ontological unity, the verbal paradigm is reflective of the Afrikan notion of time, and it also shows how Afrikan existential concepts of existence and knowledge manifest in the grammar of Medew Netcher and Jamaican. In addition, this study includes the first translation of a Kemetic text in an Ebonics language as an exemplar for large-scale Afrocentric translation of a text. Overall, this study provides a foundational framework for the Africological study of Afrikan language.
