May days 2010

I've been gone so long...I've never been gone from the blog this long. I don't know if anyone is still checking in here or not. I'm still not all unpacked from finishing up the remodel. Still have furniture in my bedroom that needs to be moved back in the living room. Anyway...I am going to show some of the features in the drawer and cabinets soon. I've had some requests to see those things. I just need to go get those pictures or video it.

I have not updated the blog since the oil leak happened in the Gulf. I am just so sad about it all. Can't believe they can't get it stopped. Can't believe how much damage for how many years this will affect the the coast of so many states, affect the way of life for so many and affect the lives of so many animals and plants. I only open some good things will come from this and lessons learned on how to stop disasters quickly. No doubt it will get to our beaches before too long. Don't know if in my lifetime I'll ever see the beauty that I've seen all my life on the beaches.

I had a huge amount of work come in recently so I've been getting that done and it's going a bit slow so I'm hoping to be out from under that in the next week. So hopefully I'll update the blog more.

My birthday rolled around last week. I don't care about celebrating or getting gifts...I just like to eat cake. But my mama likes to have my birthday, so since she did all the hard work of having me, I'll let her celebrate it! Happy Birthday, Mama! My parents came over and took me and Aunt Sue out to eat...plus I want to go to a restaurant over where they live so maybe I can get over there soon. I didn't get a picture of dinner with them, but we went to our favorite Greek restaurant.

The lady that comes over once every two weeks to clean the house, she gave me these pretty flowers. She's so sweet. She really likes the pugs and is good to them. She told me about a good dish at a restaurant at the beach, so hopefully she and I will get to go there soon when she has time in her schedule. I wish I could afford to have her come by every week.

Aunt Sue took me to lunch on my birthday at Hemingway's Island Grill at the beach. I had not been there before. It was good. The view was so pretty on the water.
Crab claws...were so good.

The lunch was a skirt steak with mashed potatoes...it really was good.
The view was so nice. We sat inside in the air conditioning, but there is outside seating, too.

I wanted to have dinner at sunset at the beach on Friday but I was full from lunch, so the husband and I got a sandwich and coke and went with the beach chairs to the same spot we always go to. It was so nice. I just am so happy to be here. I just hate to think what will happen when the oil starts to come up to our beaches. But we have to stay positive and know that things happen for a reason. Maybe some good lessons will be learned from what has happened. I just hope that one day things will be safe and beautiful again.
I love the colors this time of day.

My favorite shoes most of the time.

Always enjoy seeing the sun go past the horizon.

I told the husband that I wanted to go to my favorite restaurant on Saturday night. Our anniversary also took place last week. 16 years. Oh my goodness...there is just no way to describe how good the food is at the Global Grill. The husband kept saying how good it is...and he is such a picky eater. It's only open at night so no lunch menu. My favorite tapa here is the New Orleans style BBQ shrimp...and I didn't get a picture because we just dove right in to eating it.

The tapa plate of scallops..just perfect. Every sauce that I've had on food here is so good.

The husband's NY strip.

My blue cheese stuffed fillet of beef.

All right...I'll be back with more pictures of the kitchen drawers and cabinets soon. We had a camper at Camp Chichi recently, and I'll show his picture soon. We have one camper booked for a week in June! Alfred hurt his leg this past weekend, so I took him to the vet Monday and the he thinks Alfred has strained a muscle and not broken anything. So he's on an anti-inflammatory for a week. If not improved, he will go get x-rays. But he seems happy on the medication and not complaining so hopefully, he will get better soon. He is such a SWEET boy. Herbie has not been over since the kitchen remodel started and I've heard that he wants to come back for a bit. So maybe he will get to come back soon for an extended stay vacation!
