Time Frame
A. Introduction Day 1 Polygons are everywhere in our surroundings. There are different sizes, shapes,
and sides. Examples of polygons are triangles and quadrilaterals. We know that
a three-sided polygon is a triangle and the one with four sides is a quadrilateral.
This week, we are going to identify and describe triangles according to sides
and angles and the different kinds of quadrilaterals: square, rectangle,
parallelogram, trapezoid, and rhombus.
Triangles as a polygon with three sides can be identified according to their
sides. We can name them as equilateral triangle which is a triangle having all
sides equal, an isosceles triangle in which two sides are equal, and scalene
triangle which has three unequal sides.
Triangles according to angles are: acute triangle with all angles measuring less
than 90 degrees, obtuse triangle with one angle that is greater than 90 degrees
and two angles that are less than 90, and right triangle with one of the angles
measuring 90 degrees while the other two angles are less than 90.

Before we start, let’s watch these videos:

Do you now have an idea about a three-sided and four-sided shape?

What are the kinds of triangle according to its sides and angle?
How do we measure a triangle?
How do we identify and describe a triangle according to its sides and angles?
What do we mean by “quad” and “lateral”?
Are there many four-sided shapes? What do we call them?
Can we identify them? Can we describe them?
What can you say about a square, a rectangle, a trapezoid, a parallelogram,
and a rhombus?
These are some questions we are going to answer as we go along with our
lesson.
B. Development Day 2 According to what we discussed earlier in our lesson, can you now identify each
triangle according to its sides and angles? Let’s answer.

Learning Task 1: Identify the following. Encircle the triangle that has a right
angle, box the one with acute angle, and draw a line under the figure if it is an
obtuse angle.
1. 2. 3.
Learning Task 2: Identify each triangle according to its sides. Write equilateral
triangle, isosceles triangle, or scalene triangle. Write your answers on the
blanks provided before each number.

1. 2. 3.

4. 5.
Learning Task 3: Identify and describe each quadrilateral. Write square,
rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid, or parallelogram on the blanks provided
before each number.

1. Has one pair of parallel sides

2. Has two pairs of parallel sides and its opposite sides are equal
3. Is a parallelogram and four right angles and four equal sides
4. A parallelogram and four equal sides (a slanted square)
5. A parallelogram that has four right angles and its opposite sides
are parallel.

Learning Task 4: Identify the illustrations below by writing which kind of

quadrilateral it represents.

1. 2. 3.

4. 5.

C. Engagement Day 3 Learning Task 5: Describe each triangle by matching Column A with Column
B. Write the letter of the correct answer on the blanks provided before each
number.
Column A Column B
1. Equilateral Triangle a. no sides are equal
2. Scalene Triangle b. two sides are equal
3. Isosceles Triangle c. all sides are equal
4. Obtuse Triangle d. all angles with less than 90 degrees
5. Acute Triangle e. has one angle greater than 90
degrees
Learning Task 6: Answer the following questions. Write your answer on the
blanks provided before each number.
1. How many equal sides does an isosceles triangle have?
2. How many equal sides does an equilateral triangle have?
3. What kind of angle does an acute triangle have?
4. What kind of angle does a right triangle have?
5. What kind of angle does an obtuse triangle have?
Learning Task 7: Describe each quadrilateral by matching Column A with
Column B. Place the correct letter of your answer on the blank before each
number.
Column A Column B
1. Square a. with one pair of opposite parallel sides
2. Trapezoid b. all the sides and angles are equal; pairs of
opposite sides are parallel to each other
3. Parallelogram c. with two pairs of parallel sides; opposite
sides are parallel and equal in length
4. Rectangle d. with all the four sides having equal lengths;
opposite sides are parallel and opposite
angles are equal
5. Rhombus e. with all the four angles of equal measure;
the pairs of opposite sides are parallel
and equal in length
Learning Task 8: Answer the following questions. Draw a CIRCLE if your
answer is YES and a DIAMOND if it is a NO on the blank provided before
each number.
1. Is parallelogram a rectangle?
2. Is trapezoid a parallelogram?
3. Is square a rectangle?
4. Is rhombus a square?
5. Is rectangle a parallelogram?
D. Assimilation Day 4 Is our lesson easy to answer? Do you understand how to identify triangles
according to their sides? Let me see if you can. Let’s answer the following.

Learning Task 9: Identify each triangle. Write if it is an equilateral, isosceles or

scalene triangle, or if it is an obtuse triangle, acute triangle, or right triangle
opposite each letter below.

Is our lesson easy to answer? Do you understand how to identify and

describe quadrilaterals? Let me see if you can. Let’s answer the following.

Learning Task 10: On the first column, write if it is a square, a rectangle, a

trapezoid, a parallelogram, or a rhombus.

1, has one pair of parallel sides

has two pairs of parallel

2.

a parallelogram that has four

3. right angles and its opposite
sides are parallel.

a parallelogram that has four

4.

 Remember that triangles are identified and can be described

according to its sides (equilateral - all sides are equal; isosceles - two
sides are equal; and scalene - no sides are equal) and angles (right
triangle - has one 90-degree angle and two acute (< 90
degree) angles; acute triangle – all angles measure less than 90 degrees;
and obtuse triangle – has one angle that measures more than 90
degrees).
 Quadrilaterals can be identified and described through their different
kinds: square (a quadrilateral of four equal sides with two pairs of
parallel sides, and four right angles; rectangle (a parallelogram that has four
right angles and its opposite sides are parallel); parallelogram (has two pairs of
parallel sides and its opposite sides are equal); trapezoid (has one pair of parallel
sides); and rhombus (a parallelogram with four equal sides [a slanted square]).
V. ASSESSMENT Day 5 Now, in this part, your knowledge will be tested again. To assess your
(Learning Activity understanding of our lesson for this week, answer the following tasks:
