Determine the Missing
Term/s in a Sequence of
Numbers
Objectives:
When you do skip counting numbers by 2,3
and so on you can form a pattern or a
sequence. Aside from that you can identify
the even and odd numbers, get the factors
and multiple of a number that can be use in
determining the missing term.
With this lesson you will be able to determine
the missing term in a given sequence by
finding the sequence uses
Let’s Review!
Let’s Study!
even number .
1.8,10,12,____,____,18, 20
2. 25, 29,_____,37,_____,45
A number sequence is a
list of numbers arranged
following a pattern. Each
sequence?
Activity 3:
Find the missing term/s.
Let’s Study!
Properties of Addition and Multiplication
are used in different equations. These are
Commutative Property, Associative Property,
Distributive Property of
Multiplication over
Addition, Identity Property, Inverse Property
and Zero
Property.

Let’s Study!
Let us try to evaluate the given equation and fill in
the missing numbers to make them correct.
Let’s Study!
Let us see how to find the missing number/s in an
equation.
Discussion:
In the first equation, we will
use the Distributive
Property of Multiplication over Addition.
Let’s Study!
As the description of Distributive Property of Multiplication
over Addition states, multiplying a sum by a number is the
same as multiplying each addend by that number and then
adding the two products. Therefore, 4 is distributed and
multiplied to the given addends 11 and 10. So we came up to
an equation of
4 ( 11 + 10 ) = ( 4 x 11 ) + ( 4 x 10 ).
Let’s Study!
In the second equation, we will use the Commutative
Property of Multiplication. 19 x 2 = 2 x __
As the description of Commutative Property of Multiplication
states, changing the order of factors does not change the product. We
can see that the order of the factors 19 and 2 were changed in the given
equation. Since 2 is given, we can identify that 19 is the missing factor to
come up with the same product and to make the given equation correct.
Key Concepts!
- Equation is a mathematical sentence that states the
equality of expressions.
1.) 0 + 26 = ___ + 0
1.) 29 x 2 = 2 x ___
2.) 30 – ( 9 + 2 ) = 10 + ___ + 5
3.) 7 + 10 + 7 = 4 x ___
4.) 829 + 912 = 912 + ___
5.) ( 11 x 1 ) + 0 = ___ ( 1 + ___ )
