In this study, the effect of tool length on hole tolerance of Ti6Al4V alloy was examined by drilling with long and short HSS drill according to the most suitable cutting parameters determined by previous experiments. For this purpose, holes were drilled in a Ti6Al4V alloy plate with a thickness of 25.40 mm in a 3-axis CNC milling machine using 8 mm diameter uncoated short and long HSS drills. Nominal hole diameters and deviations from the mean concentricity, perpendicularity and circularity are measured.
Tool wear images on drills were investigated with a digital microscope. As a result of the drilling operations applied with short and long HSS tools under the same cutting conditions, it was found that the tool wear in the long tool was less than that in the short one, whereas the dimensional and geometric tolerances of the holes drilled by the long drill were worse than the short tool.

The CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) machine is a high-speed, multi-function measuring device that produces high measurement accuracy and efficiency. CMM machines have the advantage of being a high level of precision, accurate, and requires a short measurement time (more efficient). But the disadvantage is the product to be measured must be stationary/static, so it needs a fixture. This problem then requires a tower-shaped fixture to keep the object static. Tower-fixtures are generally rectangular (4 sides). Generally, objects that have a high degree of complexity will need a fixture that has more than 4 sides. The brand that provides a buffer tower with more than 4 sides, has a fairly expensive price. Therefore, we design a such fixture for these purposes. Product is designed and drawn using the SolidWork Software 2013. Product is made using machining processes including using lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, and bench work tools. The product material used is Aluminum 6061. After the finished product, the product will be validated in dimensions using a CMM machine. The results obtained indicate that 64.3% of the total measurement of the tower fixture product is within the permissible tolerance range. The rest, as much as 35.7% of measurements are not acceptable because they exceed the tolerance limit given. This is caused by several factors, including human error and inaccuracies in the machining process, causing a difference in dimensions between the design drawings and the original dimensions of the product. Abstrak Mesin CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) merupakan suatu alat pengukur multi fungsi berkecepatan tinggi yang menghasilkan akurasi dan efisiensi pengukuran yang tinggi. Mesin CMM memiliki kelebihan yaitu tingkat presisi yang tinggi, akurat, dan membutuhkan waktu pengukuran yang singkat (lebih efisien). Namun kekurangannya adalah produk yang akan diukur harus dalam keadaan diam/statis, sehingga membutuhkan penyangga. Permasalahan inilah yang kemudian membutuhkan suatu penyangga berbentuk tower agar benda tetap statis. Tower penyangga pada umumnya berbentuk segiempat (4 sisi). Umumnya, benda yang memiliki tingkat kerumitan yang tinggi akan membutuhkan sebuah tower penyangga yang memiliki lebih dari 4 sisi. Adapun produk komersial tower penyangga dengan lebih dari 4 sisi memiliki harga yang terbilang cukup mahal. Sehingga dalam paper ini dibuatlah sebuah desain peyangga tersebut. Desain produk dirancang dan digambar menggunakan Software SolidWork 2013. Produk dibuat dengan proses permesinan diantaranya menggunakan mesin bubut, mesin frais, mesin bor, dan alat kerja bangku. Material produk yang digunakan adalah Alumunium 6061. Setelah produk jadi, produk divalidasi dimensinya menggunakan mesin CMM. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa 64,3% dari jumlah pengukuran produk tower fixture berada dalam batas toleransi yang diizinkan. Selebihnya, sebanyak 35,7% pengukuran tidak dapat diterima karena melebihi dari batas toleransi yang diberikan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya human error dan ketidak-akuratan dalam proses permesinan sehingga menyebabkan adanya perbedaan dimensi antara gambar desain dengan dimensi asli produk.
