Empowerment

Community empowerment is a very basic thing in a national development agenda. Communities, academics, government and business actors have an important role as initiators in national development programs. In order to carry out this function, several strategic studies are needed so that all components of society can be empowered to improve national development programs, including members of the Indonesian Theravada Buddhist Council Organization in Tangerang City. Based on this research, there are several problem identifications, namely as follows: 1.) Magabudhi members need guidance in the form of entrepreneurship training, (2) Lack of facilities in the form of entrepreneurship training facilities in Magabudhi. The results of community service research are as follows: (1). Tangerang City Magabudhi members have a great interest in entrepreneurial activities (2.) Tangerang City Magabudhi members feel helped by the existence of entrepreneurship training facilities organized by the Business Faculty of Buddhi Dharma University.

In an age of pervasive digitization, students' limited familiarity with the vast realm of information poses a significant challenge. This study investigates the hurdles faced by university students in terms of internet access and information retrieval. Objectives encompass understanding the impact of internet access challenges on academic performance, exploring factors influencing students' lack of interest in enhancing internet skills, and identifying barriers to effective internet utilization. Methodologically, a survey approach is adopted, involving 160 purposively selected students as respondents. A structured questionnaire is used for data collection, distributed through Google Forms, resulting in a comprehensive 100% response rate. The study's theoretical foundation rests on the Use and Gratification Theory and Digital Divide Theory, highlighting digital literacy's importance in education. Key findings support alternative hypotheses, revealing the influence of internet connectivity challenges on academic performance, citing factors like cost, inertia, intent, and digital literacy. In conclusion, the study underscores students' reliance on smartphones for internet access, proposing specialized instruction, self-driven skill enhancement, and collaborative efforts to enhance internet accessibility and affordability. Recommendations emphasize specialized instruction, self-driven skill improvement, and collaborative efforts to enhance affordable internet access. Ultimately, tackling these challenges empowers students to navigate the digital landscape and leverage its potential effectively

The desk review method guided by ecosystem theory was employed to review and present findings on the roles of social workers in the lives of autistic children in Tanzania. Dar es Salaam was used as a case study where social workers engage and address the special needs of autistic children. Findings show that there are specialised autistic services in Dar es Salaam more than any other region and that social workers play a significant role backed up by the Tanzania Child Act of 2009. Some health professionals and caregivers are not aware of the role of social workers in the care of autism. Social workers however address the needs of autistic children by promoting full and meaningful inclusion of autistic children in social functioning and accessing public goods and services. Social workers also empower autistic children and their families through home and school visits, policy advocacy and using different forms of empowerment with other professions to meet their needs. Despite these roles, their contributions are not well recognised. The paper concluded that social work training does not inform practice towards intervening with autistic children. Therefore, the paper recommended that there should be more advocacy by social workers to increase public awareness of their roles in autistic services and integration of autistic services in training and social welfare services. Social work training institutions should integrate competence to address the needs of autistic children.

Gender equality is a central human aspect of the Sustainable Development Goals. Among its multiple and complex issues, this research highlights gender-based violence as a domain that affects women’s empowerment and the guarantees of an effective equality on numerous levels. To address such a complex structure, which perpetuates inequalities between men and women, generating multiple effects and jeopardising social changes, social design can provide contributions on cultural and social levels. To achieve social systemic changes, one needs to activate profound cultural transformations. Thus, how can we change culture without rejecting the need to empower women and promote equality? The Montréal Design Declaration (2017) recognised social design’s potential to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), to contribute to global challenges, and to accept a calling for stakeholders’ integration and agency promotion. This review explores how social design can provide contributions with regard to SDG5 and gender-based violence, presenting relevant domains that actively contribute to cultural transformation to address interventions in this
systemic phenomenon.

Gender inequality is a prevalent problem encountered by industrialized and developing nations around the globe. It is imperative for governments, organizations, and individuals to actively promote equality between genders and provide women with the necessary resources and opportunities to actualize their capabilities to address and rectify gender disparities fully. Many individuals accept that innovation is a male-ruled field, which deters women from chasing after professions in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) area. This article addresses the student gender imbalance in choosing ICT courses in Albania and the wider Western Balkans region. The issue at hand is the low presence of women in this rapidly expanding sector, impeding economic capacity and societal advancement. The objective of this study is to identify and understand the factors that are influencing this disparity between genders. The study is focused on analysing the number of registered students in bachelor's and master's courses in computer science in different public and private universities.

The study examined variables associated with men’s participatory roles in reproductive health services in Ogun State Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design with qualitative method was adopted for the study. Eight hundred (n=800) participants were randomly selected for the study. Women’s Empowerment is a holistic and sustainable goal for development of a society. They are the resources of family, society, community and nation. They are the greatest asset of an economy. Urbanization processes are not properly guided their roles in this society. Transformation of gender roles in urban contexts will require wider community involvement as well as administration. They are disadvantaged in income poverty, asset poverty, time and power. This paper is properly focused on features of empowerment of women in this society, their educational status, employment opportunities, social and economic status, as well as future strategies.

The agricultural sector worldwide is facing many issues relating to crop productivity due to the lack of communication between extension workers and farmers. To reduce this gap, information technology like mobile phones are one of the essential communication devices in numerous fields as well as agriculture. This review aims to analyze mobile phone usage in agricultural modernization and rural development. The advancement of the agricultural sector in rural areas is essential for reducing poverty among growers. As we all know, agricultural activities provide employment opportunities and generate income in rural areas. Poverty can be decreased by advancement in the agriculture sector for better production. Agriculture production, socioeconomic conditions, and food security can be improved by increasing the usage of mobile phones for easy and accurate agricultural knowledge sharing to the farming community.

Purpose-This study aims to examine the extent to which halal branding and digital media utilisation affect consumer behaviour. It also intends to provide an overview of the sociopreneurship model-a model that targets both financial and social benefits, while also working to solve problems in the community-to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the use of halal branding and digital media managed by zakat institutions. Design/Methodology/Approach-In the first stage, this study employs a quantitative approach to analyse the factors of digital use and halal branding in influencing consumer behaviour. In this respect, multiple linear regression was used to analyse 172 research respondents. In the second stage, it uses a qualitative approach in designing a sociopreneurship model based on the results of the first stage. Findings-This study found that religiosity and halal branding have a positive and significant effect on Muslim interest in buying halal products. In addition, the factors of price, religiosity and halal branding also positively and significantly affect satisfaction in consuming halal products. The sociopreneurship model can be applied to zakat institutions to facilitate MSMEs in developing product quality through halal branding and digital utilisation. Originality/Value-The unique characteristic of this study lies in the use of both the quantitative and qualitative approaches in carrying out this research. It is hoped that the model offered in this study will be able to develop the MSME sector to keep abreast of modern trends despite the limited capital available to such institutions. Research Limitations/Implications-The sample used in this study was restricted to Indonesia, with a limited number of respondents. Moreover, data collection was conducted through questionnaires without in-depth interviews with consumers, MSMEs and zakat institutions.

The influence, significance, and meaning of religion and religiosity in the Balkans at the end of the second decade of the 21st century have not diminished. Peter Berger argues that today's world, with some exceptions, is deeply religious-perhaps even more than before. This attitude of Berger refers to modern society, but in the era of socialism, it was not so. Empirical verification from that period records the atheization and secularization of society. In this regard, the primary aim of this paper is to present a kind of panoramic review of religiosity from the era of socialism to the post-socialist transformation and religious revitalization. The focus of the first part of the paper is the analysis of de-monopolization and stigmatization of religion in socialism while the second part of the paper concerns the analysis of the elements of desecularization of society, and the post-socialist revitalization of religion in Montenegro. Subsequently, a kind of stability in religiosity is detected on the basis of empirical material.

The implementation of digital literacy training in the village of Sukarema has a very big influence on changes in people's habits, especially parents in controlling and supervising children when carrying out activities related to digital literacy. The implementation of PKM activities is carried out using the lecture method, aiming to provide understanding to parents that digital literacy is very necessary to help children digitally. We use practical methods to strengthen understanding of digital literacy. After the PKM implementation took place, the community (parents) could feel positively both the usefulness and benefits of digital literacy in finding information related to learning and other things. Executive summary Promoting women’s economic empowerment is ‘smart economics’. When women are fully involved in economic development, countries become more equitable and prosperous. Worldwide, there has been steady progress for women and girls in the key sectors of health and education. However, Australia—like most donors—has had limited success in achieving gender equality outcomes in economic development programs. Last financial year, approximately 25 per cent of the Australian aid budget was invested in the economic sectors, ranging from primary industry through to the production of goods and provision of services. In the last couple of decades, the scaling up of successful pilot projects has been considered a crucial development strategy. The majority of scaling-up programs in developing countries stipulate the integration of gender as a central objective. In the article we argue that while the integration of gender in the scaling up of pilot projects has the potential to empower women, care should be taken not to overly focus on a segment of the women category (particular female heads of households) and overstate temporary gender gains that do not transform exploitative gender norms and practices. The article draws on evaluation research undertaken by researchers of the Scaling-up of Pulse Innovation for Food and Nutrition Security (SPIFoNS) Project, implemented in Southern Ethiopia. Data of this write-up were gathered using semistructured questions, focus group discussions and observation. The article argues that if projects such as SPIFoNS are to adequately challenge patriarchy and contribute to bringing about gender equity, they need to recognize the heterogeneity of women and design multidimensional programs that can help married women to gain full access to resources and participate in important household decision-making processes.

This study aims to find out how the implementation of the Children Friendly Integrated Public Space (CFIPS) program related to community empowerment in North Kembangan Village, Kembangan District. This research was also carried out to prove the suitability of the CFIPS program with regulations that have been set by the Special Area of the Capital City Jakarta Provincial Government in an effort to empower the community. The theory used in this research is the theory of program implementation according to Charles O. Jones which mentions three basic activities namely organization, interpretation, and application. Judging from the current developments, the positive impact is more than the negative impact of the CFPIS program which is felt by all the communities around North Kembangan Village, Kembangan District. Community empowerment activities that can be done in the form of economic empowerment, such as business development and skills training, competitive human resource empowerment, such as tutoring. Therefore the impact is felt not only by children, but also felt by adults to the elderly. Even so, this program still has some shortcomings that are expected to be much better going forward. El presente artículo tuvo el propósito investigar sobre la formación
de los docentes en El Salvador, en el enfoque psicopedagógico el
desarrollo de la enseñanza-aprendizaje de la Resiliencia, las habilidades
socioemocionales y el aprendizaje socioemocional, que el Ministerio
de Educación, Ciencia y Tecnología, (Mineducyt), llevó a cabo en el
sistema educativo de educación básica y media de El Salvador. A raíz
de las diversas problemáticas, que se presentaron a nivel educativo
como resultado de la pandemia por la COVID-19. Lo cual, provocó que
el Mineducyt explorara diversas metodologías psicopedagógicas para
enfrentar estas dificultades, y de esta forma proporcionar las estrategias y
las herramientas idóneas a los docentes para asistir de una mejor manera
a sus estudiantes en las aulas de clases, además de fortalecer el proceso
educativo y potenciar el aprendizaje académico y el socioemocional de
los estudiantes. La formación docente se ha transformado acorde con las
necesidades que presenta el contexto de la realidad salvadoreña en el
tema educación.

Research on marriage in developing countries has been somewhat narrow in scope because of both conceptual and data limitations. While the feminist literature recognizes marriage as a key institutional site for the production and reproduction of gender hierarchies, little is known about the processes through which this relationship operates. This article uses data from the newly collected India Human Development Survey 2005 for 27,365 ever-married women aged 25–49 to explore ways in which different dimensions of gender in Indian society shape the decisions regarding age at marriage. Social capital is often extolled as a benevolent resource, but resources can be applied to any number of ends. Using new data from the India Human Development Survey (N=41,544), I examine social capital and patriarchy and demonstrate that social capital works to enhance restrictions placed on women's autonomy, revealing a darker side. Households which are well tied into their communities avail themselves to greater scrutiny and thus anticipate and react to the prescriptions of dominant, patriarchal norms. This study employs multivariate logistic and ordinal logistic regression to model the relationship between four measures of women's autonomy and the social capital of households: 1) wearing a veil; 2) eating order during meals; 3) mobility; 4) and decision making. A male-first eating order and restrictions on mobility are demonstrated to be associated with higher levels of social capital.

Women's empowerment is the process for women to redefine gender roles that allow them to acquire the ability to choose among known alternatives otherwise restricted by such ability. The empowerment of women and the achievement of gender equality are vital for our society to ensure the country's sustainable development. A relação entre profissionais de saúde e usuários é tema desafiador para a reorganização dos serviços de saúde pública. Objetivou-se discutir a relação profissional-usuário nas questões do cuidar e da educação em saúde no contexto da Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF), utilizando a perspectiva da bioética contratualista. Resumo Este artigo discute a parceria do Estado com organizações sociais para a gestão do trabalho em saúde no setor público, com ênfase no trabalho do agente comunitário de saúde. Trata-se de um estudo de caso realizado no município do Rio de Janeiro numa conjuntura de expansão da cobertura da Estratégia Saúde da Família. O tema é analisado num contexto mais amplo de reforma do Estado brasileiro, partindo-se do entendimento de que o movimento reformista da administração pública, conhecido como gerencialismo, guarda estreita relação nas suas ações e valores com a reestruturação produtiva iniciada nos anos 1970. Os resultados mostram que o modelo de gestão do trabalho implantado opera sob a lógica da produtividade, influenciando o modelo de atenção à saúde prestado à população e a organização do trabalho do agente comunitário de saúde. A análise também destaca a temporalidade e a externalidade dos vínculos de trabalho como fatores que podem comprometer os avanços da democratização, equidade e cidadania no campo da saúde e do trabalho conquistados na Constituição brasileira de 1988. This article explores early marriage in Madura. Early marriage causes psychological problems and physical and material losses that are not in line with the purpose of family formation in Islam. Using a mixed method approach, this article utilizes questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation obtained using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Square approach equipped with qualitative analysis. The achievement of family formation goals is measured using Maqāsid Al-Usrah indicators by Jamal Al-Din 'Atiyah Muhammad. The measurement results indicate that early marriage families in the Madura Muslim community achieve family formation goals to ensure human life continuity, regulate male-female relationships, maintain lineage clarity, and preserve religiosity within the family. At a methodological level, this research contributes to various models for measuring family resilience in establishing and building a family. Based on reliability and validity tests, all indicators of maqāsid al-usrah's Jamal Al-Din 'Atiyah Muhammad are declared valid and reliable so that they can be used to measure the achievement of family formation goals in other subjects in further research studies.

The present paper aims at investigating the relationship between human resource empowerment and results of organizational excellence model (EFQM) among employees of emergency unit in Guilan's university hospitals. This is an applied research performed through descriptive-survey method. Required data was obtained using standard questionnaire. Research population is composed of all employees of emergency units of Rasht university hospitals (N = 400) of which 195 individuals were selected as the sample according to Cochran's formula using ordinal random sampling. Besides, share of each order was calculated through systematic sampling method. Obtained data was analyzed using SEM method in AMOS22 software. Also, Pearson's test was performed through SPSS21 software. Findings indicated a positive, significant relationship between human resource empowerment and results of EFQM among employees of Guilan's university hospitals. Accordingly, it is suggested to pay special attention to employees' empowerment features to enhance organizational performance level and to look at empowerment as a main strategy for improving organizational transformations.

The research on which this paper is based was conducted in Geita District, Tanzania, to assess the nature of community participation in irrigation projects in three villages (Nzera, Lwenge and Nyamalulu) to find out whether community participation used in the projects was likely to lead to their long term sustainability. A cross-sectional research design was adopted in which a combination of purposive and simple random sampling techniques was employed to select a sample of 120 respondents. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through questionnaire survey, key informant interviews and Focus Group Discussions. Quantitative data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to compute descriptive statistics and do inferential analysis while qualitative data were analysed using content analysis. The results showed that community participation in the projects was inadequate to lead to their long term sustainability due to low (< 50% except in terms of contribution of resources) participation in all implementation stages. The understanding of community participation among the beneficiaries was limited (<50%) in all aspects. Women participation was limited (37.5%). Hence community participation was used more as a means than an end. Therefore, it is argued that community participation needs to be enhanced in order to improve sustainability of irrigation projects. Hence, it is recommended that that there should be concerted efforts to sensitise and mobilise the community members to participate effectively in all aspects of the projects from problem identification to implementation.

In Tanzania, gender education has been being provided through various mass media. Therefore, it was expected that family resources would be equitably, if not equally, utilized. However, incidents of men squandering income from tobacco and denying their wives of benefiting from the income are common in Urambo District where the most important cash crop is tobacco. The reasons for this problem are not clear. Thus, the research from which this paper has emanated was conducted in the district during the agricultural season 2009/10 to determine gender-based factors for equitable and inequitable expenditure of income from tobacco. Background: One of the greatest barriers found by physical therapy treating individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) is the adherence to treatment, associated with the lack of motivation to remain active. Therefore, there is a need to change the look given to physical therapy and for the individual, seeking the centralization of the therapy in their preferences. This study aims to present the EMPOWER-PD, a protocol based on individual preferences and its design for feasibility. Method: A 12-week pilot for a randomized clinical trial will assess the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of the EMPOWER-PD and make comparisons with conventional physical therapy (CPh). Both protocols consist of mobility and locomotion training, and aim at improving motor and non-motor symptoms through different approaches. The EMPOWER-PD aims to provide a source of motivation and empowerment of health through the self-knowledge of the individual's abilities and limitations, in a protocol that addresses individual preferences. The CPh is based only on physiotherapist decisions, not addressing the individual's preferences or motivation/empowerment. The target recruitment will be 24 PD individuals, between stages I and III of Hoehn and Yahr (HY), who will be recruited from Brazilian Parkinson's disease Rehabilitation Initiative (BPaRkI) with allocation ratio 1:1. A computerized block randomization procedure will be implemented by a blinded researcher with the participants blinded to group assignment. The sessions will be conducted in a group setting, twice a week, during 60 min for 8 weeks, followed by 4 weeks of follow-up. The primary outcomes will be the feasibility data (adherence, recruitment rate, and safety). The secondary outcomes will assess the preliminary efficacy on qualitative assessment about individual's motivation/empowerment and quantitative motor outcomes (Timed Up and Go and Dynamic Gait Index) and non-motor symptoms (6-min walk test and Fatigue Severity Scale). The recommendation to have 6-12 participants per group will be adopted based on the qualitative analysis to the sample size. Discussion: This study will provide important insights about the physical therapy approach in PD individuals. The EMPOWER-PD is innovative because (1) it proposes an intervention that includes an individual-centered approach with motor control principles; (2) it aims to provide a source of motivation and empowerment of health; (3) assesses the individual in a global view considering motor and non-motor symptoms, using both, qualitative and quantitative metrics. Introduction Digital health offers the potential to strengthen health systems in low-and middle-income countries. However, experts have warned about threats to human rights. Methods We used qualitative methods to investigate how young adults in Ghana, Kenya and Vietnam use their mobile phones to access online health information and peer support, and what they see as the effect on their human rights. We applied a transnational participatory action research approach. Global and national networks of people living with HIV, AIDS activists, young adults and human rights lawyers participated in study design, desk review, digital ethnography, focus group discussions, key informant interviews and qualitative analysis. Results We interviewed 174 young adults ages 18-30 in 24 focus groups in 7 cities in Ghana, Kenya and Vietnam, and held 36 key informant interviews with national and international stakeholders. Young adults reported predominantly using Google, social media and social chat groups for health information. They emphasised reliance on trusted peer networks, and the role of social media health champions. However, gender inequalities, class, education and geography create barriers to online access. Young adults also disclosed harms linked to seeking health information online. Some described anxiety about phone dependence and risk of surveillance. They called for a greater voice in digital governance. Conclusion National health officials should invest in young adults' digital empowerment, and engage them in policy to address benefits and risks of digital health. Governments should cooperate to demand regulation of social media and web platforms to uphold the right to health.
