How do contemplative exercises, like meditation, help us to become better people in practice? Is there a risk that they might do the opposite, by distracting us from the world to such a degree that we neglect our everyday moral obligations? This chapter develops a dialogue between two historical traditions within Buddhism and Platonism, represented by Buddhaghosa in Sri Lanka and the Neoplatonist commentators of Mediterranean late antiquity. These schools, the chapter suggests, offer two distinct models for resolving this kind of concern. First, a practitioner might alternate between contemplative absorption and action, with contemplation cultivating positive mental qualities that make for better moral agency in each moment of decision. Second, we may simultaneously experience a highly receptive contemplative state even while we act in the world, making us much less likely to react in harmful, misguided ways to everyday impressions. In both cases, genuine moral improvement flows from a radical transformation of our perception of the world.

This paper presents our submission for the SemEval shared task 6, sub-task A on the identification of offensive language. Our proposed model, C-BiGRU, combines a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with a bidirectional Recurrent Neural Network (RNN). We utilize word2vec to capture the semantic similarities between words. This composition allows us to extract long term dependencies in tweets and distinguish between offensive and non-offensive tweets. In addition, we evaluate our approach on a different dataset and show that our model is capable of detecting online aggressiveness in both English and German tweets. Our model achieved a macro F1-score of 79.40% on the SemEval dataset.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hubungan yang erat dan searah antara pemberitaan media cetak dengan pemahaman multikultur masyarakat Kota Pontianak. Meskipun dalam beberapa variabel terdapat hubungan berlawanan. Namun hubungan antara variabel tersebut tingkat korelasinya masih sangat lemah. Hal ini menunjukkan masih terdapat faktor lain yang mempengaruhi pemahaman multikultur masyarakat Kota Pontianak yang diterjemahkan melalui beberapa indikator, yaitu; (1) pernyataan terhadap ada atau tidak adanya etnis yang lebih baik di Kota Pontianak, (2) waktu yang dihabiskan untuk berinteraksi dengan etnis lain dalam 1 hari, dan (3) motif berinteraksi dengan etnis lain

Currently, most industrial materials rely entirely on passive protection mechanisms; such mechanisms are readily applicable and universal for many different materials systems. However, they will always stay passive, and therefore their lifetime and functionality is limited and related to the amount of protective additives and the intensity of their consumption. Therefore, better, and preferentially active process for the protection/repair of damaged materials-self-repairingprocesses-were developed and need to be developed further. Although it sounds futuristic or like a fiction in the modern, trendy times, which in many ways affects also directions of research; self healing of material systems exists already for a long time in all sorts of systems of materials or functionalities. The aim of this work is to go beyond the scope of a classical review the ones published recently in this field which almost entirely focused only onto polymeric systems. In this work, an analysis of the underlying functional and constructional principles of existing natural and synthetically self-healing systems spanning over a range of classes of materials is given leading to general rules and principles for the design of new and application tailored self-healing material systems.
