Sunday Chat...not much...

Time: 7:35 am

Scene: 64*, 92% humidity, 62% dew point. The temp is supposed to drop throughout the day.

Drinking: second cup of Maxwell House with Italian Sweet Creamer. Yep, second, been up since 6 am.

Just Random Things off the internet/blogger memes I found to be 'hmm'...without doing all the full memes:

--My favorite place to read is on the couch with my feet up on the ottoman.

--Jan. 23 was Pie Day. We are a tad bid late in this, but today we are having Banana Cream Pie.

--The colors that look best on me are the jewel tones, although I do like the brown shades as well. But I had my colors done once and the jewel tones look best. The other day I wore a black blouse with gold trim on the neckline and black pants and someone commented on how nice I looked in black. Eww is my normal response to that. But even hubby said I should try wearing black more often.

--I am a in between sleeper; not light not heavy...it just depends on the temp. in the room.

What's for Dinner?

Hubby said Spaghetti and he has since changed his mind to me making a homemade pizza, if it's not too much work he said.

***more important what's for breakfast? LOL-He said the frozen pastry things he slipped into the cart yesterday. hmm...

More Random Thoughts...

--never made it to get a haircut...and contemplating going today.

--we were home by 1-1:30 yesterday. It just got so humid out. I made a list of places that needed to be done; Home Depot for Window tint for the front door (because it's an oval glass door that lets in the heat/sun),

TJ MAXX (because I needed Nellies Laundry Soap-but ended up having to order it from Amazon Nellies store. And I did buy a pair of linen citrine color gaucho pants that were on sale for $8), Sam's Club for snacks for lunches, Walmart for various groceries and I bought these drapes for the living room:

it def. sets a diff. tone for the room. $8 for the pair. So, $16.
$8
Neither of us wanted to be out and about.

--did a load of laundry yesterday.

Have a beautiful day!

Currently...needing a reset...

yes sirree...no lie on that.

Time: 6:30 am

Currently: 67*, 96% humidity, 65* dewpoint.

Drinking: 1st cup of Maxwell House coffee with Italian Cream.

Random Thoughts:

--After 2 days/nights of a house being at 89* inside, and 2 days of heat illness, we broke down yesterday evening, went to Home Depot and bought 2 portable ac units. The temp has dropped to a comfortable 73* in the house. Indeed, the humidity has returned...although I see starting tomorrow, we will back to 60-70* and less humidity.

**on that note the ac guy is coming out Monday-he called late last night. FINALLY. Not keeping my fingers crossed. Are there more than 1 ac companies here? Sure, but not willing to pay more and on the advice of my dad etc.

--Thankful for having good insurance... a secondary insurance from my work. Never did I ever realize that having supplemental accident/disability and life insurance would mean so much. Sure, I pay $36 a month for this benefit, but it has already paid for itself and then some.

--On that note, I am at the time in my life where the realization is

--also on that note, I am thankful that my boss has returned to work and has dropped out of the presidential race. I like to keep him here in Florida. Just saying.

--Was not up to doing any memes, sorry.

--My foot...well, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th metatarsals are fractured. He/dr. is threatening to put me on bedrest until it heals, however, he has put me in a boot. My foot feels better, getting there. I am NOT wearing it here at home, as it has left a bruise on my leg. I have told him over and over, I cannot wear a boot, never could I wear boots of any kind as my calves are thick. ANYWAYS, it is what it is. My employer has been very accommodating and understanding. Actually, security thinks it's pretty funny I only wear one shoe and that is all that comes out of the Xray machine every morning. I cannot drive with it, so I have a secondary foot "boot"/ shoe.

--needing a

I have not returned, calls, emails, blog comments, texts etc... just wiped out. I mean NO disrespect etc. by not doing all these. I think a beach trip sooner than later is in need. Just saying.

**we are in a midst of a statewide audit at work, apparently, I am leaned on for special projects which has caused friction--well, too bad, then offer to help. There were words yesterday that caused the top bosses to mention this-was not directed at me, LOL. My thinking is, I am there for 8 hrs. so use me, period. I am also learning my direct supervisor's job as she needs a backup just in case. I am ok with learning and doing etc...I am not one of those that will sit at my desk and do nothing.

**another thought, Pamela and her family have not made it over yet with the special piece of furniture...and I am afraid I am at fault for not returning calls etc. My own husband is onto me about that...although in full disclosure, I did break my phone/the screen and it works when it wants too. (and in my head, I hear, STOP BLAMMING THE PHONE, LINDA!) There is no rationing behind my thinking lately. I have to learn to turn off work which is running rampant in my head at the moment.

--transitioning my winter closet to summer...although I see the temps will be leveling out this coming week. I am told my employer will be cracking down on the dress code, so I suppose I need to leave the winter closet in (the dressier professional clothes).

--I need to run and get a haircut today, lol.

yeah, I think I will just stick my head in the sand. LOL--NOT. Have a beautiful day friends. I will check in later.

Sunday Chat...

Time: 8:20 am

Scene: Brr...33* but real feel is 27*, yes in Florida. No worries by Wed. the high will be 84-85*.

Drinking: Fixing to get a second cup of Maxwell House coffee with Italian Sweet Cream.

Thinking:

I told hubby not to plan for me to go anywheres, I am tired. Need a break.

Need to organize my closet yet again...someone who shall remain nameless when he does laundry, he just doesn't follow my color coordinated scheme. He fails to understand why I need this way, LOL.

***and don't think I am not grateful for all that he does, because I am.

Which will lead me to pull out clothes for the work week.

Customer service isn't what it used to be...I keep harping on this. Popeyes was a major disappointment-the food wasn't really up to par...and the car dealership --don't even get me going. If it's one thing I hate, is getting out of the vehicle and being pounced on; What are you looking for? Used? New etc. Geesh, just dropping it off, then don't even get me going on the Service side. I might be a female and might not understand all things whatever etc...I ain't stupid, don't like being ignored or treated like I am. For the record, I can change tires, spark plugs and oil. And I know a knock from a ping. Thankful for a dad who was patient to teach his only daughter.

Which brings me to the thought we have decided to not go out to eat for a while. I am also wondering if my standards are set to high.

I need to work on my nails.

Hubby is going to make Oatmeal Scotchies Cookies today. He said I am to be his Guinea pig, LOL.

What's for dinner?

Hubby said he is going to grill/fry (?) steak on the stove, baked potatoes and maybe green beans. Since I don't "do" it right he said, LOL.

Well, ain't that the truth, above LOL. ---Wishing each of you a beautiful day.

This Weeks Memes...

Good morning from a very cold Central Florida where we are under an approaching cold front that will bring temps down to the mid 20's tonight. Joining in with this week's Memes from Annie and Joyce.

1. What is something you have always wanted to do?

I have always wanted to live on/have a house on the beach or own a small motel on the beach.

When will you do it? Not in my lifetime unless I win the lottery. lol

2. Friends are coming to town to visit you. What arrangements will you make and what sights do you think you would take them to see?

Well, Ocala is horse country, so we could ride around and see the horse farms. But we also have the Don Garlits Drag Racing Musuem which is pretty cool. Then again, Marion County and Sumter County/Villages have hundreds of consignment/antique shops, which is always a nice way to spend the day. Then we would go have lunch, prob. the Metro Diner in the Villages.

3. It's time to relax after a busy Tuesday. What sounds good for tonight? A movie? Which one? A book? Early to bed?

Bed, since my day starts by 4:00 am.

4. Plan something for this weekend that includes going out or having people in.

See above #2...but today, we have to drop my car off at the dealership as it has to get detailed, and a new seal put in for the driver's door. So, I don't think y'all want to do that. LOL. But the new Popeyes opened up on Pine Ave., so we are going there for lunch. IF we can get in, lol. I noticed it the other day when I was coming home from work, cars were lined up for a long time.

1. On January 18th we commemorate A.A. Milne's birthday. Milne is the author of the beloved classic Winnie the Pooh. In many ways Pooh represents innocence and simplicity. His optimism reminds us to appreciate the little things. What are three little things you're appreciating in mid-January?

The cooler weather (not really wanting the summer months)

The husband and all he does.

Friendship

2. Piglet teaches us even the smallest of individuals can achieve big things with the proper amount of determination. How do your current responsibilities make you feel?

lolololol

3. Tigger is known for his enthusiasm and energy, his boundless joy and love of life. What's something you're interested in learning more about in this new year?

I need to learn to be more comfortable in my own skin...meaning to love myself. I have always suffered from low body self-esteem issues.

4. Eeyore, while a melancholy character, teaches us the importance of resilience and perseverance. How do you stay motivated and persevere in difficult circumstances?

One word: Faith. Faith in my Lord and Savior...and what is that saying about the mustard seed?

5. What's the last thing you ate that was made with honey?

Hmm...Elderberry tea, I do believe. Yesterday was the last day of taking the anti-inflammatory prescription for the foot issue(s)...which gave me horrible indigestion and upset stomach for the past week. Someone at work bought in Elderberry and it tamed the symptoms while I was at work. I am trying to take a holistic approach with things...I am just done with everything foot related (personally speaking, my mindset is rot), however; I am afraid a cast will be ordered on Monday. The swelling is gone, but the pain still exists. I am just done with this whole boot thing, being uneven when I walk etc. Then that brings a whole set of things; can't drive with a cast...etc. I do not make a very good patient, just saying.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

So, I keep smiling...lol. Love love sloths. Which I feel like one today...lol. Have a beautiful day all.

Monday Chat...

 Just a Monday Chat...

Time: 8:04 am

Scene: 47* and cloudy. Rain will be moving in later today, repeat parrot. Florida is in its rainy and cool season.

Drinking: first cup of Maxwell Coffee with Italian Creamer.

Yesterday's Going On's:

Change of plans...It became painfully obvious that we needed to go back to a second car as we are just stretched so thin with me driving 36 miles total to work, dr. appointments and so on...so next thing I know we had an appointment with Jenkins KIA here in Ocala. Excellent salespeople, excellent service etc.

2 hrs later I walked out with a 2018 Hyundai 4 cyl. 1.8 turbo Santa Fe with only 29,000 miles on it for $17,000. One owner. I really went in to look at a Camaro, but, honestly, I just couldn't get in or out of it lady like---ok ok, it was obvious I am getting old. Plus, it came with a $700 month price tag. Anyways, it's called Surfer Girl Blue. Now, I am in personal debt with a car loan, for the first time ever as I have never owned a car or had it in my name. Sigh...time to grow up, right?

Then, we stopped at Red Robin for dinner...food was really good, but the service was lousy. Waitress started off good, but we never got a drink/water refill or refill of the bottomless sides. Called the manager over and you want to know what he said. "Oh, she is over at that other table catering to that large group. So, she is busy." He did not offer a refill. My husband was irate. Needless to say, we will not be going back and nor did she get a tip. I am afraid this is the sign of the times. We have never had issues there, but we are finding the places we like to go, lately, the service has been darn right bad.

So...which leaves today, a day off. That means playing catch up to laundry, finally baking that spiral ham, cleaning the house...and oh hubby says we have to move the cargo trailer to be able to fit my car under the carport...sigh...

Funny thoughts...

Yes, all of you are magnificent little sunbeams that lighten up this dark world we are living in.

Sunday Chat...

Wondering if Monica moved to Mississippi? Nonetheless, joining in on her meme. I know she will see this when she has time, grin.

Time:
8:03 am

Scene: A bit nippy at 45* with rain moving in soon. Yesterday wasn't as warm as I thought it was, I really should have put on a jacket yesterday as the wind had picked up and it was quite chilly, and the humidity had dissipated.

Todays Plan: Well...

laundry (already have the bed lines in the wash)

put away the presents my folks have given us from Christmas.

A vanity set, candles (Buttercream and Christmas Cookie), cookie jar, salt and pepper shakers, Bath and Body hand soap, chocolate, a new blanket (my mother has always give blankets ever since I was a kid, so, I have like 50+ years of blankets; some are new some are homemade), various gifts cards and a hefty substantial check so now we don't have to finance the ac system. I about cried which was rewarded with, "You know Linda, you can't hide things from us." Oh oh...You would think I would know that by now.

--She also gave us their old Christmas tree and some other things, cleaning out their attic; heirlooms which included a vintage Coach handbag and some other things etc. And it dawned on me, truly, my parents are almost 80-and who am I going to leave all this stuff too? My brothers don't want it, hence why I got it. AND I am pushing 60 myself.

rearrange my vanity/makeup table to fit the vanity set so I can sit down now and get myself ready in the morning.

That is, it for the day, we have decided to stay home today.

Drinking: My first cup of Maxwell House with Italian Sweet Cream.

Listening to: the washing machine. My husband decided he would go into the 3rd bedroom and lay back down, no reason, he's tired. TMI He's having some hip issues, and I don't think he wants to admit it.

Watching: nothing. I do have my nose in a book though:

Randomness:

ok-so now I have 2 Coach handbags. My mother, "Sell my bag. I bet its worth a pretty penny."  Yeah-like $700. I was thinking how blessed I was to have a mother (who I often don't see eye to eye with) and paternal grandmother who taught me to distinguish from real to fake on many things, clothes, handbags, antiques.  I always come away from parent's house more confused than ever. Yesterday was a lively and nice visit with them. My dad is all worked up over politics, aren't we all?

Speaking of real to fake etc... there is a little upscale consignment store near us-the same place my husband bought the 1st Coach bag from, and I usually go in on the pay day weeks- Saturday (on pay weeks), so much now, the lady sets things aside for me...anyway, she set aside another 3 vintage blouses for me. $30 for the 3, I think was a good thing. My closet is quickly becoming the Imelda Marcos of clothes (not of shoe fame). Since I have to dress decent for work. I have gotten some comments from coworkers on my clothes, not sure if its good or bad, some snicker...jealous, I like to think. LOLOL. I prefer vintage clothing over new-the vintage clothing isn't made in China, folks. Its quality. I don't know the stories behind these blouses or how she acquired them, but whoever is getting rid of them, had good taste. Or do I have poor taste? hmm...so, $30 each pay period --yike I have a shopping problem. Yes, sir I sure do.

Thank you all for the kind comments yesterday. Which, I haven't returned answers or my own comments too.

Going to put in a small spiral ham for dinner. Gosh, groceries haven become so expensive.

I believe I have talked enough. grin.

Currently...

 Good morning from

60* and a bit humid out. We have had so much rain this past week.

Currently Thinking...
So, I had the appointment with the foot specialist yesterday (thank you for the good insurance! And my employer who was looking out for me), totally totally love this guy. Why? Because he said the Ortho Inst. here in Ocala--well, just don't go there anymore. He really didn't have kind things to say-let's just say, if I would of have come there (the present dr.) first, I wouldn't be in this sad shape...anyways, here we go:

I do have ortho arthritis but not the whole foot.

However, I do have a stress fracture above the area that has arthritis and 3 toes. He has put me on an anti-inflammatory for 7 days. IF the redness and swelling don't go down, I will go in a hard cast. He said he might just go ahead and put me in a hard cast anyways because where the fractures are, he is waiting, because the foot is swollen/toes and the wants to run more x-rays, unfort because of the swelling (yep, the foot is back to being swollen-it comes and goes), he just thinks it's best to wait until he proceeds. I am to remain in the boot and keep using the Voltaren cream until then. I do not have to have a rod put in my foot, such a relief and he wants the fractures to heal and then we will proceed to the arthritis topic. So... there you have it. I see him in 2 weeks.

Currently...

I remain unmotivated to start the day. I really need another cup of coffee to shake off the cobwebs. I have to get going, really, I do...so much to do today; pharmacy, grocery store and hopefully visit the folks to exchange Christmas presents...which for some odd reason, we haven't been able to meet up for whatever reason.

Thinking...

I am going to switch pharmacies. I have had enough of CVS and their rudeness, no preparedness, and darn right "We are out of your prescriptions". I had to wait and go without my blood pressure meds for 3 days. This isn't the first time...folks at work are complaining as well...so the state /employer has now opted in for us to have a choice on who we go to. So, I am going to switch. Enough. I am.done.with.mediocracy. They still don't have prescription ready from yesterday. One excuse after another. Then I wonder, is this the society we are living in? Shortages and such. Or is just the I don't care?

Something funny

Have a great day. I will play catch up later.

Sunday Chat...

Good morning from a soggy central Florida.

Time: 8:32 am

Scene: 53* Sunny humidity is 91%, dewpoint is 52*. Suppose to reach a high of 60. No worries, by Tuesday it will be near 80*.

Drinking: Fixing to have a second cup of coffee with Italian Cream (to shake off the cobwebs that seem to be growing).

Thinking:

--I still keep up with the newspaper in upstate NY and other family/friends where we used to live. They were hit with that snowstorm and my understanding is they got about a foot of snow. I do miss the change of seasons, but thinking, I am liking wearing flip flops year around lol. Well, one flip flop right now, LOL.

--Had to hire a snowplow service to service my mil's driveway and sidewalk. Rolling eyes. My parents are the same age-pushing/almost 80 and I marvel how different they are from my mother in-law and her spouse. My folks are extremely active whereas my mil and the spouse, not so much-they are sedentary and even have their groceries delivered. We have a nursing staff come in, but they do absolutely nothing; my in-laws are supposed to be exercising etc. and they are not (we get the reports) the nursing staff have become over 'friendly-I better leave it at that. Just a TMI we had the house sold and she backed out of it, actually, my late brother in-law's girlfriend who lives in the basement, put her 2-sense in... crying she had no place to go. So, my mother in-law in her infinite wisdom decided it would best to stay put. Oh, there is more to the story, of course. But nonetheless, we decided not to push it although we have legal say. The time will come when they will have to move. Me thinks they did this so we wouldn't find out what is really going on, too late, we know. So, we play the merry go around. Around and around we go.

What's on Tap for the Day?

--there is some laundry to do and ironing.

--supposed to visit my parents today (they weren't around yesterday, and she called like at 4 and I told her I was in for the day, sorry. My foot had had enough of being out and about yesterday, but she doesn't know that, but she will), but hubby is coughing and sneezing, so might hold off. Not sure if its allergies or what's going on, he is actually still in bed, unlike him to be so.

--make cookies. I still haven't done that yet. But I really don't want to heat the house up, lol.

Thought for the Day:

HA. It has been a little cool for the beach, but nonetheless, I am looking forward to visiting soon. Have a beautiful day all.

Currently...

Linking back to Stacy as it is her meme, grin. I really should title it something else. LOL

It is Currently pouring rain, can't emphasize that enough. Some of you are getting snow and we are getting dumped with rain. It is 68*.

I am trying to get my first cup of Maison Taillefer French coffee down. But I am busy writing this and reading the weather.

So, about my right foot...I am Currently in a boot. The second opinion came in and it is indeed Osteo Arthritis, and it will only get worse. I see a specialist this coming Friday.  Surgery is a word I do not like. There is no bone left in my right foot. The dr. has me using Voltran (sp?) cream and the swelling is way down.

I need to drop off my parents Christmas card today/gift cards today...will wait for the weather to break. It is monsoonal out right now. I am not feeling especially festive towards family. As they told me not to come around during the holidays because my brothers and their families will be around. Yeah...anyways, I am in no rush to visit...people can be cruel for no reason...

Currently awaiting books. My books haven't come in yet.

I did see a new eye dr. this past Wed. My new glasses come in Jan 17. Very little changes from 3 yrs. ago. I did get Transitions and the anti-glare, blue whatever, and the total cost was $153-I did splurge because this Florida sun can be a bit much and the blue because I sit in front of a computer most of the day and I also read court documents, so the bifocals will remain. So thankful for employee state insurance because if I didn't have insurance, I could never afford it.

I do need to make cookies for the week, head to the store to pick up odds and ends. Other than that, nothing else is going on. Family issues are not worth mentioning.

On the other hand, Currently I am looking forward to Pamela's  and her family's visit on Jan. 15, grin. They are bringing something special, stay tuned. grin. I think my husband has claimed this, and it is not going where it should be going...zip. LOL P.S. Benton, Pamela's son refurbishes / rehabs furniture. So, that is a clue. grin.

Our yearly state audits have begun and I was requested/entrusted to do a special project that requires auditing of files...so, goodby to my current job at the moment. Unfort...when one is trained or picks up on certain things, they focus on that person who knows how to do whatever...and guess what, I am that person. NOT THAT I AM TOOTING MY OWN HORN. FAR FROM IT.

lol--have a great day all. I will try to catch up with your blogs. smiles

Happy New Year and Word of the Year...

Happy New Year. Thank you all for the kind words on yesterday's post. So, what did we do yesterday for our anniversary? Nothing. Well, ok, so I took a shower, washed my newly cut hair and put on clean pj's and we watched Dead Reckoning the New Mission Impossible movie. I also made spaghetti for dinner and did 3 loads of laundry. Both of us are plum tired out from Friday and it seems neither of us are bouncing back that fast, lol. Just.Keeping.It.Real.  Onwards...

is my 2024 Word of the Year. Yes, Blessed is my word...it hit me like a ton of books...oh man, speaking of books...I have so many and just ordered some used "new" books...hubby is like
