Just a Monday Chat...
Time: 8:04 am
Scene: 47* and cloudy. Rain will be moving in later today, repeat parrot. Florida is in its rainy and cool season.
Drinking: first cup of Maxwell Coffee with Italian Creamer.
Yesterday's Going On's:
Change of plans...It became painfully obvious that we needed to go back to a second car as we are just stretched so thin with me driving 36 miles total to work, dr. appointments and so on...so next thing I know we had an appointment with Jenkins KIA here in Ocala. Excellent salespeople, excellent service etc.
2 hrs later I walked out with a 2018 Hyundai 4 cyl. 1.8 turbo Santa Fe with only 29,000 miles on it for $17,000. One owner. I really went in to look at a Camaro, but, honestly, I just couldn't get in or out of it lady like---ok ok, it was obvious I am getting old. Plus, it came with a $700 month price tag. Anyways, it's called Surfer Girl Blue. Now, I am in personal debt with a car loan, for the first time ever as I have never owned a car or had it in my name. Sigh...time to grow up, right?
Then, we stopped at Red Robin for dinner...food was really good, but the service was lousy. Waitress started off good, but we never got a drink/water refill or refill of the bottomless sides. Called the manager over and you want to know what he said. "Oh, she is over at that other table catering to that large group. So, she is busy." He did not offer a refill. My husband was irate. Needless to say, we will not be going back and nor did she get a tip. I am afraid this is the sign of the times. We have never had issues there, but we are finding the places we like to go, lately, the service has been darn right bad.
So...which leaves today, a day off. That means playing catch up to laundry, finally baking that spiral ham, cleaning the house...and oh hubby says we have to move the cargo trailer to be able to fit my car under the carport...sigh...
Funny thoughts...
Yes, all of you are magnificent little sunbeams that lighten up this dark world we are living in.
Hi Linda! I love your new car! We are probably going to go car shopping today too. We bought a KIA Optima in 2010 and it has been an excellent car. Josh is now driving it up in Idaho. When we get a new vehicle we are thinking we will let Josh take the 2015 Honda and give the KIA to our grandson. It still has many more miles left in it. I hope you have a great day off and a good week. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteYour new car is a beautiful color, Linda. I hope you enjoy it. Sorry about the poor service at Red Robin. Definitely a sign of the times! I hope you enjoy your time off.
ReplyDeleteThis post with the funnies made me laugh right outloud especially the one about this has got to stop. hahaha
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on that GORGEOUS new car. I am jealous!!! you got a GOOD deal.
I hope you have a fabulous day off.
Love your new car and the color is beautiful and I love the name of the color...Surfer Girl Blue...perfect! Enjoy your day off (I assume you're off)!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that manager just blew you off. Thet's pretty awful service.
ReplyDeleteI have today off too and am so glad because the weather continues to be awful!
Congratulations - a new car purchase is always exciting. I like that color! I didn’t know that Cameros are still being made. When eating out it’s always one or the other, and sometimes both. Food good, service bad or Service good, food bad. I do yelp reviews now to help other customers. Added benefit is letting the restaurant know and when it is a franchise restaurant like Red Robin, the corporate bosses don’t like bad reviews!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new acquisition! And I love the blue color. I haven't gone car shopping in years so I'm scared to death to see what they cost now. I'll limp along with my baby for as long as I can. Too bad about the restaurant service. I'd be upset too. The manager didn't sound very sympathetic. Take care and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteLove your new car!!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know that you have the day off, Linda, but sorry about the lackluster service you recently experienced at the restaurant. You'd think that wait staff would be working overtime to earn a customer's trust in these tough times.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Like I said before, LOVE the color of your "new" set of wheels. And such a good deal too! Well done you.
ReplyDeleteI'm still giggling at the graphics!! OMGosh ... I may have to share some of those.
Hope your foot/feet are healed soon.
Sending love & prayers. xx
Cute new car - congrats!! Sounds like a great deal. And funny memes...made me smile this morning:) Have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteA good choice in a car.. Had one for seven years and not one bit of trouble or ever in for service except recommended which is few and far between for a change.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your pretty surfer blue car! That is really sweet! Sounds like you got a great deal on it too! So happy for you! I am glad you had today to rest and recuperate from all that excitement! Today was a strange day. It rained when it wasn't supposed to according to our cell phone weather app, and then didn't rain when it was supposed to. Then it rained in the sunshine later in the afternoon! Crazy stuff going on!! Supposed to get a lot colder in the next few days, so beware!! No flip flops for you! LOL. Take care my dear friend. Hope to connect again soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good looking car! You don't want to know what I think about that restaurant's non-service ... and that manager needs fired.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new car!! The color is great! I just got mine paid off and that feels so good!! Too bad you had such horrible service at Red Robin and the manager was a jerk. Crazy weather we're having, for sure, but at least it isn't two feet of snow!! Have a good week ahead! Enjoy your new ride!
ReplyDeleteI love your new ride!! I have a Hyundai Elantra, but I absolutely drool over the Santa Fe! Yay! That's exciting! Sorry y'all had such a bad experience at Red Robin. You would think the manager would go out of his way to make things right after getting a complaint! Geesh!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda :) I had a Santa Fe years ago and it was my favorite car ever!! Now I have the Kia Sorento and it's just as good and the Hyundai. Also, go to YouTube and look up Velocity Banking. Use this link:https://www.youtube.com/@VanntasticFinances
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to watch a few videos to get the concept, but basically car loans (or anything amortized) will have you paying tons of interest. But with a line of credit you can pay off your car and pay down the line (and use it over and over) so much faster. I've paid off two car loans in the past 8 months!
Like I said, you'll have to watch a few videos to get the concept, but it will be worth your time.
Anyway, enjoy the "cool" weather. We are freezing over here in Texas!!
Have a great week!
Had the same awful "service" at my eye doctor's office! Where do all these "I don't care" employees come from?!
ReplyDeleteWe retired about 7 years ago...hubby thought I needed to sell my car...Lol...I told him we DO need two vehicles...so forget it!
Come to find out...Momma was right! lolol
Love the car!!
hugs
Donna
Oh, that manager!! Not good. Last time I was in the hospital I had a nurse like that.. gossiped with one special person she knew rather than care for the rest of us. She was short lived on that job.
ReplyDeleteYour new car is pretty. I like the surfer girl color too. But Florida does not have good surfing so you won't need a rack on top for your boards.
Congrats on your new car! Unless you both are retired it's almost impossible to have a single car anymore! Have a good weekend!
