Sunglasses Required

In cold climates like mine

it seems we wait so long

to feel the heat of the sun

that when Spring does

~ FINALLY ~

arrive

nature rushes

~ guiltily ~

replicating the glow of the burning sun

in as many flowers as she can

to banish our complaints.

Well done!

They're so well named, pussy willows,

and something I look forward to

each spring.

Catch them while you can,

they don't last long.

For a gardener...

The Belle Of The Bouquet

So, Spring has arrived, rain and all

and the flowers

are gathering speed

- underground -

This means I don't yet have

any flowers to celebrate.

Lucky for me

one of my daughters received

a beautiful bouquet of flowers

and this fuchsia beauty caught my eye.

On The Wings Of Spring

Flying in ahead of Spring

before the snow has left the ground

birds arrive

to fill the air with their

wishful songs.

They rummage through the dead leaves

that cover the sleeping garden

in search of bugs and other goodies

invisible to my eyes.

The backyard is filled

with their silly antics,

their chatter and squabbles

as they argue over nesting spots

and rights to my feeders...

but mostly they gather in noisy families

to celebrate the end of winter.

when you're

out for a walk

in the woods.

where the bright greens

and flowers of Spring

are.

Snow Fool Like An April Fool

Every day in Montreal

is

April Fool's Day

until every last speck of snow

is

GONE!
