Christmas in Trinity, TX

Enjoyed a few days in Trinity, TX with the Karnes and Matsons.  Great food (taco soup, pot roast, ham sliders and chicken fried steak at the Trinity Cafe), movies (Hallmark and Mama Mia II), and games (Left, right, center and Blank Slate).  Oh, and Blue Bell, of course!  A highlight of dinner at the Trinity Cafe was the Karaoke!

Veteran's Day QOV presentation

Our men's choir sang at all services today at First Baptist Keller.  Quilts of Valor were presented at the 9:30 service to 4 WWII vets.  The fifth quilt will be presented at his residence.  It was a moving service, with standing ovations for each vet as they received their quilt.

Veteran's Day at QFC

Today was presentation day at QFC for Quilts of Valor.  There were 4 quilts presented although I only got two photos.  Everyone was very appreciative of being recognized for their sacrifice for our country.

October 2018 at The Hill

Another fun retreat at The Hill with Charlotte Wilson, Donna Neef, Mary Anderson , Joyce Parris, Sandra Rico, Kathy Sibley and me.  Charlotte cooked a pork tenderloin for one night's dinner and then had veggie soup and cornbread for the next night.  Perfect fall weather made for a great time with these quilting friends.

Thursday, time to head home.  The innkeeper, Chris, went out on his motorcycle on Wednesday and had an accident.  Shelley wasn't up to doing breakfast so we stopped by the Rainbow and then headed home early.   It was a nice end to our short, relaxing get-away!

Music & Food in Mountain View

Tuesday, Sept. 18th found us starting the day with a delicious breakfast at the Inn.  Enjoyed meeting the other guests and finding a soulmate - another sewing enthusiast!

We took off for Mountain Home, about an hour north of MV.  Enjoyed the scenery on the winding road through the Ozark National Forest.  After lunch at Colton's Steak House we headed back to MV on a different road - more scenery!

We had heard the pie was to die for at PJ's Rainbow Cafe so we shared a taco salad and topped it off with coconut meringue pie.  Excellent!

I had to try out the large rocking chair on Main St.

The Mountain View Meeting Place hosts a music show every Tuesday night and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  The place was packed!  It's a free show with donations requested for the musicians.  The lead singer reminded us of John Denver or Glen Campbell.

On Wednesday morning we toured the Ozark Folk Center (OFC) and were treated to a performance by Unkle Dave (correct spelling).  He mans the Visitor Info Center and was more than happy to tell us some history of the area as well as his life story.

Pam Setser and Brad Apple were the featured performers at the OFC.  She had a beautiful voice and this was a very good show also.  The banjo player is a student and did a good job too.  A guy from the administration office came in and danced during one song - fun!

Monday and Wednesday evenings we hung out at the Picker's Park in MV.  Anyone that wants to play just joins the others in the gazebos and picks and sings.

Barn Quilts in Arkansas

We searched for barn quilts on the Arkansas Barn Quilt trail.  Some were too hard to find - maybe a gps location would have helped.  Ron pointed out a truck quilt - Elsie on the back of a truck!
