The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince by Mayte Garcia
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Interesting perspective on a private man. It threw me at first because she refers to Price as her husband most of the time, not her ex. Heartbreaking to read to full story about what happened to their son.

Review: Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules
Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules by A.J. Mendez Brooks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I watched wrestling back in the days when it was still WWF. It's been years though so I'd never seen or heard of AJ before. I read a preview of this book though and though she sounded pretty awesome. I'm still under that impression. She's led quite the life, and she's still so young! Very well written with some good laughs.

Review: The Girl Before
The Girl Before by J.P. Delaney
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The descriptions of the fish almost made me sick.
The use of the word "goes" in place of "says" really grated on me. It's always been a grammatical pet peeve.
Not bad otherwise. I wasn't always sure where it was going to go and that is a good thing.

How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease by Michael Greger
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Don't let the page count intimidate you, a third of it is reference notes from the research. Adding this book to my go-to reference section of my library.

Review: Dear Reader
Dear Reader by Mary O'Connell
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Couldn't get in to it. Didn't care for the characters and a lot of dialogue revolved around Wuthering Heights, a book I've never liked.

Review: The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living
The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living by Meik Wiking
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Hygge does not seem to be very compatible with veganism, but it could probably be made to work.

Raising Unicorns: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Starting and Running a Successful - and Magical! - Unicorn Farm by Jessica S. Marquis

I feel like I've read a lot of heavy books recently so I was really in the mood for something light and fun. This was a good choice.

Review: The Book of Strange New Things
The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book took me a long time to read as I kept getting library books pop up as available. It was a long read anyway but a very interesting idea. On reflection, now I'm done, it doesn't feel like a lot happened plot wise but still an interesting story.

Review: Idaho
Idaho by Emily Ruskovich
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A lot of mention of the color yellow, usually a positive color symbolically (most likely meaning hope here). Really stands out in such a dark story.
Very heavy read. I had to take lots of breaks while reading this one. Has an incredible structure.

Review: The Moth Presents All These Wonders: True Stories about Facing the Unknown
The Moth Presents All These Wonders: True Stories about Facing the Unknown by Catherine Burns
My rating: 0 of 5 stars
What I really like about listening to The Moth is that the stories all feel so intimate. Even though it's broadcast radio it still feels like it could be someone telling a story just to you over the phone or around a campfire. There's also a grittiness to the stories that is very compelling. They are not short stories of nonfiction, they are tales of truth. This book is a wonderful collection of the type of narrative you hear on the show.

Review: Dead Things
Dead Things by Stephen Blackmoore
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I'm not a huge fan of noir. The way the characters talk is always so unnatural I can't get past it. But since the plot of this story was also unnatural, it was more bearable and kinda worked.

Review: The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman
The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman by Timothy Ferriss
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
I admit I didn't read all of this book, but the author says you don't have to in the beginning anyway.
Probably the least helpful book I've read on this topic, and I've read quite a few.
Don't bother.
