The theme for this fortnight is #122, Bling Bling.
Our sponsor for this challenge is A Day For Daisies with an awesome prize for one lucky winner: 3 digital stamps of winner's choice.
For this challenge I made this CAS (clean and simple), Mermaid Card, using our sponsor´s beautiful image 'Mermaid Love'.Image is paper pieced.
TIP: When printing an image on a watercoloring paper, choose standard or fast printing quality. This will prevent smearing the black ink while watercoloring.
TIP: When coloring with colored pencils on watercoloring paper, use paper stump or cotton bud to blend colors into a paper, otherwise your image will have white spots over it. This is because of texture of watercoloring paper.
I colored mermaid's hair and tail in watercoloring technique using aquarell colored pencils, fine paint brush and water.
TIP: When watercoloring image printed on printer, try to avoid black lines to prevent printer ink smearing.
After drying, I fussy cut mermaid and colored edges with black permanent marker.
TIP: When fussy cutting, first cut away large pieces of paper and then cut on the lines. Rotate paper, it will be much easier to cut around tiny details. Color edges of fussy cut image with black pen or marker. This way you'll hide white edges and any white space you didn't cut off and your paper pieced image will look much better.
Then I masked heart on the second printed image and splattered whole panel. I used aquarell colored pencils, water and large paint brush to make splatters.
TIP: If you don't have masking paper, use post-it papers to mask your images.
After the panel was dry, I removed mask from the heart, colored it with colored pencils and added gloss resin over it.
TIP: Add some interest to your image by adding resin, varnish, glossy accents or similar product on some parts of your image.
At the end, I glued fussy cut image over the other image on the panel, glued panel on a white card base and glued rhinestones and sequins on the card.
TIP: You can use gloss resin, varnish or similar product to glue rhinestones or sequins. It works like a Ranger's product Glossy Accents.
Card dimensions are 139 mm x 104 mm (5 1/2" x 4 1/8").
