Wild About You Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Happy Friday! :o)

On Tuesday, February 11th, was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Wild About You Card:o)

I made this Valentine's Day card for my sweetheart. He loves it!! :o)

To make this card I went with same design as on the card I created for latest Jane's Doodles blog hop (here).

I used stamps from Jane's Doodles 'Wild' stamp set. Love it!! :o)

How I made my card....

I stamped a lion on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique, using Distress Ink s. After coloring and drying, I fussy cut the lion, traced edges with a black marker and softened the lion using a stylus ball on a soft working mat. This curled the image a bit.

I stamped another lion on a white cardstock paper scrap, fussy cut him, leaving a thin white border around him, colored him with a grey marker and glued the watercolored lion over him. I did this because watercolor paper I use is thick and I needed thicker image.

Then I worked on a frame. First I die cut two Polaroid frames from the white cardstock paper and then cut the bottom part of each to get a nice rectangle frame. I ink blended one frame with Distress Inks and mini ink blending tools.

I glued together two frames, forming an interesting shape, and then glued the frame on a white top folded card base.

Then I die cut a speech bubble from a black cardstock paper and heat embossed a sentiment in white on it.

I glued 3-D foam squares on the image and speech bubble and glued them on the card and my card was finished. :o)

    Jane's Doodles Release Blog Hop

    Hi everyone! :o)

Welcome to a Jane's Doodles Release Blog HopToday we are featuring new stamp set released into the store. :o)

Super cuteness overload!! Love love LOVE!!!!! :o)

For today I prepared this Cozy Day Masculine Circle Card using stamps from the set. :o)

    How I made my card....

With some masking, I stamped a living room scene on a watercolor paper and cut a circle shaped panel on my Sizzix machine using a wonky stitched circle die cut.

Then I drew a line to separate walls and floor and stamped a sentiment on the panel.

Next up was coloring. I watercolored the scene with Distress Inks. I wanted to create a masculine card, so I decided to go with black+grey+yellow color scheme.

After watercoloring a floor, books and furniture, I worked on wallpapers. First I drew black vertical lines with a black fine liner and then yellow and grey lines with Distress Inks and a paint brush.

I used ruler to measure and mark distance between lines, but I drew them all free handed. I tried to drew the pattern on a scrap paper and used ruler for straight lines, but I didn't like it as much as free handed drawn pattern. :o)

Lastly, I glued the panel on a same size white cardstock circle and glued it on a black circle card base, which I made by gluing two black circles together on the top. :o)

I love how my card turned out. :o)

      Blue Science Notebook

      Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this Blue Science Notebook. :o)

When my friend saw a notebook I made for myself in May this year (here), she wanted me to make a similar notebook for her boyfriend. Same theme, same image, same size, only two requests were a blue color, as that is his favorite color, and to be finished prior September. :o)

      How I made this notebook...

To make this notebook I used stamps from two Your Next Stamp stamp sets: 'Perfect Chemistry' and 'Periodically Nerdy'. :o)

I colored a professor during Kathy's Racoosin 13th 30 day coloring challenge (a preview of all my coloring here).

I stamped the professor on a watercolor paper and colored him in a watercolor technique using Distress Inks. First I colored his tongue in pink, but I didn't like it, so I recolored it with a Tea Dye Distress Ink, same color I used for the skin. After drying, I fussy cut the professor and traced edges with black marker.

I left the image aside until I got a clear idea on how the notebook will look like (ehmmm, two months).

I made notebook covers using a white cardstock paper and a blue cardstock paper. When covers were completely dry, I punched holes on the cover spine and glued magnets on covers.

I selected letters from Periodic Table of Elements which form word 'Notebook', stamped them on a printed patterned paper, fussy cut letters and glued them directly on the notebook front cover.

Then I stamped the professor again, this time on the white cardstock paper, fussy cut him, colored with a grey marker, traced edges with the black marker and glued watercolored professor over him. I did this to make the image thicker. Then I glued the professor on the front cover.

Next up was a pocket. I managed to smear a glue inside of covers and I needed something to cover that up and not to start all over again. I made a simple pocket and glued it inside of the notebook, over the ugly glue stain. :o)

Lastly, I placed binding rings into punched holes on the cover spine, filled the notebook with grid papers and the notebook was finished.

      Covers measurements
      length: 6 3/4" + 3/4" + 6 3/4" + 5/8" + 2"
      height: 3 1/2"

      List of supplies:

Although the binding didn't turned out as I planed and pages are not flipping very well, I love how the notebook turned out. My friends also loved it, which made me very happy. :o) Here is a short video....
