Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! My winter garden against the living room windows. I let these little plants be my decorations for the season.

Courthouse Square (continued)

There were more than just lights at the courthouse in Bloomington, IN

There was a great purple glow, which was hard to catch, from the street lights.

Another scene when my flash would have been nice...look in the center of the pic by the hedge...

She ran out of the hedge as we passed by, and I kept clicking photos without flash, trying to push this and that on the camera, and she just sat there frozen.  I was pretty frozen too.  What on earth is she doing living in the middle of downtown Bloomington, IN?

Fish on the Dome

There's a fish on the weather vane on top of the Monroe County Courthouse in Bloomington, IN.
I have no idea why.

When I searched on line, I found someone recently wrote a children's book about it, where the fish came down and went around town with a little boy seeing the sites.

Still don't know why.

And finally I did ask Mrs. Google about it and there are these articles explaining it's source.

Apparently it has less civic meaning than I would have thought.  I am sure the children's book must make more sense than this!

When I got home I asked Angel what she thought of all this.  No comment.

Lights in the Square

Bloomington, Indiana court house square, that is.

I also open my mouth when closing one eye to focus...but my little Nikon doesn't have a view finder, so I didn't get into this pose at all.  Not this time.

Though we were getting cold, thus moving around quickly, we discussed the difference between an obelisk and an odalisque.  Do you know?  They sure don't look the same, though they sound very close to the same way.

I love traveling around with sweethearts.

But no matter what I did, my flash would not work on my camera.
More views from the square next week!

Selfies etc

Edited June 2014 removing Barbara's face.
-while visiting my son, Tai, and his partner, Kendra, in Bloomington, IN.  A week of COLD.

Granddaughter Shiva is gorgeous and sweet as any cat can be.

Tai enjoyed staying in bathrobe throughout Christmas Day.  We still ate like kings and queens, vegetarian style.

I drove just about a thousand miles this week, leaving home Mon. morning, and returning last night in the early evening.  No accidents, but 2 very slow traffic situations east of Knoxville which added a lot of boring time...and mostly polite travelers on the road.

Gratitude to the family that hosted my staying in their home while they were off for the holidays, thus affording me a way to not intrude on my son's tiny living situation.  Also lots of gratitude to Tai and Kendra for hosting my visit, which included great foods, an art museum tour, an Indian dinner, picture taking of the courthouse and lights, and seeing the clay department of IU where Tai is working on his MFA.
