computer screen. As well studying for her English exam, Jashlee is also
listening to a music, chatting with her best friend online, downloading and
printing songs lyric and occasionally texting people on her mobile phone.
“My parents keep telling me off for multi-tasking while studying but they
don’t understand that it helps me concentrate”, she says.
Young people now a days spend about six hours a day using
various types of media, and doing different things at the same time. This
is the reason why they are called the Generation Z. But when it comes to
learning new information, multi-tasking has a bad impact according to the
researchers. Dividing your attention between many activities makes the
knowledge you gain harder to use later. We are not saying you shouldn’t
multi-task, just don’t multi-task while you are trying to learn something
new. According to the specialist, it is also essential to take time away from
electronic media. Generation Z should take time to relax and reflect.
There’s a life beyond the screen and the pleasure of face to face
communication cannot be replaced.

Comprehensive Questions:
1. What is the title of the story?
2. Who is the main character in the story?
3. What did Jashlee do inside her room? Based on the story, how many
gadgets does Jashlee have? Numeracy
4. Did you think Jashlee follow or listen to her parent’s advice? Why?
Possible answer: No, because Jashlee keeps on doing multi-tasking in
her works which can be harmful for her health. Integration: Science
5. If you are Jashlee would you listen and take the advice of your
parents? Why? Developing HOTS Integration: ESP & KBI
Say: Always put in your young mind that parents have a better
understanding of what we need than anyone else. Listening and obeying
them can help us become successful and improve our family’s life in the
long run.
Say: Upon reading the story, we discovered that Jashlee was doing
her homework and at the same time she was looking at the computer
screen, she is making a multi-tasking, another thing that she did was
printing song lyrics, this afternoon we will talk about more about,
Distinguish among various types of viewing materials
