Lesson Plan in English 2

Quarter 2 – Week 7
January 19, 2022
9:30 – 10:30 am

I. Objectives:
 Use common action words in retelling, conversations, etc. (EN2G-IIIh-3.4)
 Identify action words in sentences
 Write a sentence with an action word

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic: Using Common Action Words in Retelling,
Conversations, etc.
B. Reference: MELCS p. 180, English 2-Self Learning Modules p.1-7
C. Materials: Power point and video presentation
D. Integration: Health

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Review (4 pics 1 word)
Guess the CVC word. Use the 4 picture as a clue.

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation of the Lesson
Say: Some words describe what we do. We call these words as
“verbs”. A verb is an action word. It tells what girls and boys do. A verb
or action word is a very important part of a sentence. It describes the
doer’s actions or state of being. We use these words to communicate about
the different events in our lives.

Example 1:
Sheila eats soup.
*What is the verb or action word used in this sentence?
Sheila is a name of person, therefore it is a noun. The word soup is a
name of food and also a noun. The word eats is an action word. The verb
in this sentence is eats.

Example 2:
Carlo is cleaning his room.
*What is the verb or action word in this sentence?
The action word in this sentence is cleaning.
Example 3:
My mother bakes some cupcakes.
*What is the verb or action word in this sentence?
The verb in this sentence is bakes.

2. Activity (Talent Show!)


Group the pupils into three. Each group will be given different task.

Group 1 – “Drop the act”


The group will list 5 action words and perform it through a
pantomime. The other group will guess the correct verbs.

Group 2 – “Draw it”


The group will list 5 action words and draw it on the
board. The members will take turns in drawing their chosen words.
Let the other groups guess the correct verb.

Group 3 – “Action song”


The group will compose an action song about verbs. They
will perform it in the class.

Each group will be given 5 minutes to prepare.


Score the group output using the rubrics below:

3. Analysis (Catching Questions)


List questions on a piece of paper and roll it like a shape of a ball. Throw one
paper at a time. Whoever catches the paper will read the questions written on it
and answers it as well.
Questions:
How did you feel about our activity?
How did you finish the given tasks?
Why do we need to identify verbs in a sentence?
How important verbs in our everyday lives?

4. Abstraction (Keep in Mind)

Verbs are the action words in a sentence that describe what the
subject is doing.

5. Application (Give me Five!)


What are the things that you do to you keep your body healthy and strong in this
time of pandemic. List at least 5 sentences using action words.

V. Evaluation
Identify and choose the correct verb or action word that will complete the conversation.
