☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Students will listen to a PowerPoint presentation and then watch an animated video about plant and animal
cells. After that, I will introduce Kahoot to the class, first explaining how its played and then giving everyone
access to the internet.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ Formative assessment of
content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment
of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activityFor this activity I would have the students use a
computer or mobile to go to the Kahoot website and enter a code. Once they join the class, they enter their
first name only and play a timed game that consists of varied multiple choice questions. The teacher will

observe the class and monitor the game through her computer. This activity should last no longer than 15
minutes
List two questions about your topic that requires an open-ended response. These questions should prompt
critical thinking skills and offer a variety of responses that may be acceptable Why do both animal and plant
cells have a nucleus? How do plant cells differ from animal cells?
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all the questions and display
correct responses to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? I will pre-select because I am choosing this game as a fun way to get students engagement
but also to assess how well they know the material in the class. This game will tell you the correct answer
after everyone has voted.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the SRT activity, I will see if students had any questions about the game and go over questions that were
commonly missed and discuss with the whole class. After that, the lesson will be complete.
How will the data be used?
I will print or save a copy of the data for each question answered by every student and see where help is
needed. This will help to monitor their progress and lets me know if I need to differentiate any of the
instruction for students. I would do this by going over certain topics again or do other activities that will
further engage them in learning.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity I hope to learn more about where the students are at in
understanding the content from the lessons prior to the activity. I hope it will keep them engaged and
remember the questions asked, because the will hold the most important content. Knowing if the students
performed well is important in knowing when to move on in a lesson.
Reflective Practice: I feel like it can enhance their learning because they are using different ways to
remember and go over content other than worksheets and lectures. Since Kahoot has these cool features that
kids like, for example winners, points earned, and its timed making It more intense. It catches the students
eye when they hear Kahoot and it is fun way to test what they know. I would consider adding something like
building your own model for either a plant or animal cell. This lets the students be creative while learning all
the parts to the cell.
