Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the SRT activity, the students will be learning about the elements of representative
democracy/republic in the United States. They will be doing web-based research, reading informational text,
and watching instructional videos to become more knowledgeable about the topic. The students will be

introduced to the SRT activity as a method to self-check what they do and don’t know. I will introduce it as a
practice test that will be graded as a participation grade.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The students will participate in the Kahoot! Practice test. They will have a set time to answer the questions
provided. The questions will be given one by one, but not all at once. The students will be given instant
feedback after the question has been answered. The students who answer correctly are awarded points and
the students who receive the most points at the end of the Kahoot! game will be announced the winner. The
students will need to have access to a mobile device, internet, and have the Kahoot! code so they can
participate in the practice test.
The teacher will design the Kahoot! game when all students who are participating have joined their class with
their username. The SRT activity should take less than 10 minutes. The teacher will stop after each question, if
needed, to discuss the answers chosen with the class. The teacher will ask for volunteers to explain their
answer choice. This will allow for clarification on any misconceptions the students may have. When the game
is finished, the results will remind the students what they know what they need to go over again. The
discussions will guide the teacher in her re-teaching strategies.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☒ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

What does the Legislative Branch do?
The Legislative Branch is made up of the Congress. True or false?
The Congress is made up of?
The Executive Branch enacts/carries out the laws. True or false?

The Judicial Branch…
The Judicial Branch is made up of the Supreme Court and other Federal Courts. True and False?

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Kahoot! automatically displays the pre-selected answer after each question.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

Student Response and Assessment Tools
After the SRT activity, students will have a better understanding and knowledge of what they will be tested on
and how they will be worded. The students will also know how much knowledge they already have on the
topic and what needs to be studied more.

How will the data be used?

The data collected will be the results of the test. The students will receive a participation grade. The data will
be used as a formative assessment by both the student and teacher. The students will be able to gauge their
knowledge on the topic for their individual progress. The teacher will use this data as a formative assessment
to decide whether re-teaching is needed and who needs it the most. The data will be discussed after each
individual question to help the students learn and to help the students understand who may have missed the
question. At the end, the data will be used to differentiate instruction for the students who need re-teaching.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

My personal learning goal for this activity is to get more comfortable doing lesson ideas on social
studies/science. I seem to always lean more towards reading/writing because I feel more comfortable with
that myself. I hope from this activity I will become familiar with Kahoot! in learning all the different things it
has to offer. I hope using Kahoot! will help students learn by testing their prior/current knowledge on things
that are the most important in today’s world.

Reflective Practice:
I think that this Kahoot! lesson will help my students understand the topic more and know what they need to
work on. To further the lesson, the students could make their own study guide using this website. They can
make their questions on the things they need more practice on.
