Technology Standard Addressed: Standard 1- Students leverage technology to take an active role in
choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.
EWAUniversal Design for Learning (UDL): Since quizlet gives students many different ways of studying the
terms, it is great for all types of learning. Each student can learn at their own pace and choose which activity
they want to do on quizlet. For visual learners, I can add pictures to go with each term. For auditory learners,
there is an activity in there where you can listen to the definition and then type in the term. There are two
interactive games that make it great for hands on learners. There are also other activities such as multiple
choice questions, fill in the blank, and matching which makes it very universal.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. Prior to doing this activity, students will be nearing the end of an alcohol, tobacco, and
other drugs unit. Particularly the tobacco portion of the unit. This activity will be introduced the day before
the test as an interactive study tool. It will be used as a review, not instruction.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☒ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: Every student will get a laptop or sign on to a
desktop computer. They will be given a link to go to that obtains the quizlet. They will be given 20 mins to
study the 10 terms. They can study whichever way they learn best offered by quizlet; flashcards, multiple
choice, fill in the blank, listen to the definition/write the term, matching, or two game options. The teacher
will walk around the room and make sure students are on task and help them with any questions. After the
20 mins is up, they will take the test that is available on quizlet.

How will the data be used? Data will be collected by seeing how many questions each student missed and
how many they got right. The teacher will use this data to know whether students took away knowledge
from the activity or if students did poorly and struggled. By the results, the teacher can change what went
poorly and build on what went great. This activity will not be awarded for the class since it is being used as
a study tool, however it allows students to see where they stand with the content. Students are able to see
their own results and what terms they still need to study. The teacher can also use the data collected to go
more in depth on specific terms that the majority of the class may not have done well on.
Reflective Practice: I think this activity is a great way to impact student learning. There is a variety of ways
you can study the terms. This is great because not everyone learns the same. It is also helpful because you
can challenge yourself by doing a variety of the activities to really test your knowledge on the terms. To
further extend this lesson, I could create a Kahoot quiz to give to the class after doing this activity. By doing
a Kahoot quiz, it gives the students that competitive piece while also helping them know the terms further.
