Installation Procedure for Catch Basin, Funnel drains and Cleanouts:

1.1-Funnel drains and Cleanouts

1.1a Installation of Funnels and Cleanouts will be carried out as per approved method of statement
for RTR Installation and Hydro test refer to (SPSA/RP2/OPER-044 para 6.2) and Manufacturer
manual for RTR installation on taper-taper bell and spigot joints.
1.1b Location and correct elevation of funnel & cleanout shall always be followed during installation.

1.2-Catch Basin

1.2a Preparation and installation of catch basin will also following the approved method of statement
for RTR Installation and Hydro test refer to (SPSA/RP2/OPER-044 para 6.2) and Manufacturer
procedure. Two joints involved on this process, the RTR adopted joint and dissimilar joint from
metallic to non-metallic materials using an approved Sealant.
1.2b Insure first that the required elevation has been checked, considering the slope flow direction
from catch basin areas.
1.2c Adopter for catch basin shall be installed first as per manufacturer taper-taper joint connection
up to curing of joint. Prior to catch basin installation adopter joint shall be cured properly.
1.2d Scaffolding frame support must be available to lift the catch basin with chain blocks during work
execution to have a proper joint fit-up access between adopter and catch basin.
1.2e Catch basin and adopter shall be cleaned by sanding before sealant application for joint.
1.2f Position the catch basin on the scaffolding frame and apply enough sealant on both bell adopter
and catch basin spigot, then slowly fixed the basin to the adopter.
1.2i Removed the excess sealant from the joint and clean, let it dry normally before testing.

2. Testing for catch basin joint by gravity test:

:Note: - Funnel drains and Cleanouts will be raised for Visual Inspection since
the elevation of the last joint is above the flow elevation of any liquid.

2.1 Funnels drains and Cleanouts will be inspected visually for acceptance.

2.2 Only two joints involve during gravity testing, catch basin sealant and taper-taper adopter joints.

2.2a Preparation of innovative plumbers plug (shown in sketch 1), to seal properly the vertical line
below the catch basin to carry out the gravity testing of two joints.
2.2b Remove the cover of catch basin and insert the extended plumbers plug then tight the handle to
seal the line from catch basin.
2.2c If the plug is already tight, pour out water to the vertical line up to the rim of catch basin.
2.2d Start the holding time of gravity test for four hours and check the joint for acceptance.
