QATAR BUILDING ENGINEERING COMPANY SITE WORK PROCEDURE Department QA/QC Title Iron Mongery IRON MONGERY 1.0 OBJECTIVE 1.1 Is to define the procedure and quality requirements for procurement and installation of Iron Mongery for the contract no GTC.101/ED/01 Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) of Ras Laffan Utilization Project Buildings and utilities and support service Phase 1-Utilities. 2.0 SCOPE 2.1 Procurement, supply and installation of iron mongery for the buildings in Service Base Area, Service Berth, FSO Marine and Telecom building. 3.0 REFERENCE 3.1 Project Approved Drawings 3.2 Qatar Petroleum Standard Spec. for Civil Works Vol. I, Section 6.13 & 6.29 4.0 PROCEDURE: 4.1 MATERIAL APPROVAL AND PROCUREMENT: 4.1.1 Schedule for iron mongery shall be taken approval from QP Engineer. This should match with architectural drawings and requirements of each door. 4.1.2 Material approval shall be taken from the QP engineer as per approved architectural schedule/iron mongrery schedule. Sample of approved iron mongery shall be kept at site for QPs reference. 4.1.3 On receipt of iron mongery items, they shall be checked with approved schedule. 4.2 FIXING OF IRON MONGERY: 4.2.1 4.2.2 4.2.3 Issue of iron monegery items shall match with the schedule of items required for each door. Flush fittings are to be finish perfectly flush with the finished timber surface. Holes for screws shall be pre-drilled and counter sunk where necessary. Hinges shall be fitted in a standard position 250 mm from the top or bottom edge of the door to the center of the hinge where a third hinge is fitted. It shall be located centrally between the top and bottom hinges. Locks shall be fitted so that the center of the handle is at a height of 1020 mm from the bottom of the door unless otherwise specified, all locks shall differ and be supplied by one manufacturer. Each lock shall be supplied with two servant keys. All iron mongeries shall be supplied complete with fastenings matching the specified finish. All screws and fixings shall match the surface finish of the joinery. Once the iron mongery is fixed in position, Request for Inspection shall be applied to QP for inspection and approval. On practical completion, all keys shall be handed over to the QP engineer together with a typed schedule indicating name of lock manufacturer, key number, door reference, master key zone etc.
