Looking ahead
The Veterans Day program is on Friday, Nov. 10th. The 2nd grade assembly will be at
9:30-10am in the Caf. Veterans from your family are invited to come or those who are
close to your family. Well have a quick assembly, then any guest of our students will be
invited back to our classroom to talk with the kids. If you have a Veteran that cant be
with us, you can still honor them by sending in the sheet with their picture and info (sent
home last Friday). We will add all those to our hall display outside of the assembly. We
look forward to thanking these heroes for all theyve done!
Current Learning
Math: Unit 3 will focus on multi-digit addition and subtraction within 100. We will use the
number line a lot during this unit, as it builds computational fluency and helps kids move
toward mental math. We continue to use 10s, 5s, and 1s to help us solve problems.
Well use the number line to make the least amount of 10s, 5s, and 1s jumps (which
might mean going backward). Well even add three two digit numbers. Story
problems are another focus of Unit 3. I look forward to the five new games and the
problems & investigations. Im so glad the kids are enjoying math so much!!!
Social Studies/Science: WOW! I am so proud of our class! They worked together in small
groups and built their Weather Tools! We will test them this coming week! Our next focus
will be making and recording observations of weather patterns around the country.
Students will be working in small groups.
