A Peek at Our Month


Language Arts: Literacy Links
We are half way through the school year! Please continue
to work on reading and popcorn words with your child at
home. Have your child use their eagle eyes and look for
chunks in their reading!

Science:

Senses

We are working on our unit on senses. Please send in either a


paper towel tube or toilet paper tube by Thursday, February 5.
Ask your students what taste bitter, sour, sweet and salty!

Art:

We will be doing a special art project that will include


100 tooth picks. Please send in at least 100 tooth picks for
Thursday, February 5.

Fun Brain Jr.

Math:
We continue to use Math for Success in the classroom.
This month we are focusing addition and subtraction.
This month 100th Day will be on February 17. Please
send in a collection of 100 things that can be found in
your home, such as cheerios, macaroni, etc.

Social Studies:
We are continuing to work on how we are responsible
students and citizens. We will be learning about how to
read a map and finding our country, province, and
community on a map.

Welcome to the short month of February! This month is going to fly by! We are working hard and having fun!
February 4 is Global School Play Day. Our class will be exchanging Valentines on February 11. 100 th Day is on
Feb. 17. We will be doing some special activities in the classroom. Please see the back of the newsletter for
more information for all events. I will be sending a note home shortly with more information. Please keep
encouraging your child to read at home!

100th Day of
School
We will be celebrating 100 days of school on
Feb. 12. The activities will be incorporated
into our subjects that day. To help with some
of these activities, please send in:
1. 100 Collection: please send in a collection
of a 100 of something. It could be as simple
as 100 cheerios or maybe your child collects
something and has 100 of them. (Please
dont send anything of value.) We will be
sorting and group these collections during
math.
2. 100th Day Critters: We will be making
100th Day critters during Art on Friday,

Global School Play Day


We will participating in Global School Play Day. For a portion of our day, we will just
be playing. Please send in a couple of toys that your child likes to play with. The
only restrictions: they must bring toys and these toys may NOT require batteries
or electricity. Some ideas: board games, dolls, blocks, trucks, cars, racetracks,
playing cards, empty cardboard boxes, markers, jigsaw puzzles, social games

(charades, Pictionary, etc.) The only exception on the electronics rule would be a
board game that has an electronic timer, an electronics play kit, or similar.
