Workload management, a function of the OSf390" operating system base control program, allows installations to define business objectives for a clustered environment (Parallel SysplexTM in OSl390). This business policy is expressed in terms that relate to business goals and importance, rather than the internal controls used by the operating system. OSf390 ensures that system resources are assigned to achieve the specified business objectives. This paper presents algorithms developed to simplify performance management, dynamically adjust computing resources, and balance work across parallel systems. We examine the types of data the algorithms require and the measurements that were devised to assess how well work is achieving customer-set goals. Two examples demonstrate how the algorithms adjust system resource allocations to enable a smooth adaptation to changing processing conditions. To the customer, these algorithms provide a singlesystem image to manage competing workloads running across multiple systems.

The process of actually predicting efforts for software testing phase is a complex task. There are many factors affect test effort estimation, including productivity of the test team, strategy chosen for testing, size and complexity of the system, technical factors, expected quality and others. Several studies have been done for developing test effort estimation models but to some extent, most of these models result in erroneous effort estimation. Thus, there is a strong need to optimise the test effort estimation. In this paper, we proposed a model using the meta-heuristic bat algorithm to estimate the test effort. The proposed model is then used to optimise the effort by iteratively improving the solutions. Results show that our estimations is closer to the actual efforts and is thus more accurate than other methods.

Since there is no textual evidence for original meaning and significance of the ba concept from early periods of Egyptian history, we have to work only with pictorial representations of
the ba-bird, i. e. the saddle-billed stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis). Fortunately enough, the saddle-billed stork depiction is easily recognizable due to several characteristic features, as are his long legs, long neck, a strong and sharp bill, and mainly due to the presence of a wattle under the bill. This article offers new insights on the original meaning of the ba notion and on reasons for the ba-concept alterations in the second part of the Old Kingdom based on significance and symbolic value of the saddle-billed stork and on the development (or degradation) of its depictions during early periods of Egyptian history.

An attempt was made to study the effect of GA 3 and BA on ripening of litchi cultivar Rose Scented. In this attempt, KNO 3 (4%) was sprayed at 1 cm size of panicle in the first week of February. However, other treatments viz. GA 3 (20, 40 ppm) and BA (20, 40 ppm) were applied two weeks before expected date of harvest (on 15 th May). KNO 3 (4%) advanced the harvesting date only for 2 days in comparison to control. GA 3 20 and 40 ppm delayed the harvest date for 2 and 5 days, respectively while BA 20 ppm and 40 ppm delayed the harvest date for 5-6 days. In all the treated trees, fruit weight was found to be more than 21g as compared to control. Higher fruit quality attributes were recorded with GA 3 (40 ppm) followed by GA 3 20 ppm over other treatments. Reduced fruit cracking was also observed in trees which were sprayed with GA 3 and BA.

The ba, whose notion spanned from the divine to the manifestation of the divine, and from the supernatural (or rather super-human) manifestation of the dead to the notion of the soul (psyche) or reputation, counts among the most important Egyptian religious concepts. The term and its hieroglyphic renderings are attested for all periods of ancient Egyptian history. In the process of time the word ba was written with various signs, including that of a stork (G 29), a ram (E 10), and a human-headed falcon (G 53). Its representation with sign G 29—the saddle-billed stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis)—is both the earliest and the most attested depiction connected to the religious concept of the ba. Thus it serves as a crucial witness to the original meaning and main aspect of the ba.

In this study, boron doped and undoped poly(vinyl) alcohol/zirconium-barium acetate (PVA/Zr-Ba) nanofibers were prepared using an electrospinning technique then calcinated at three different temperatures; 250 oC, 500 oC, 800 oC for 2 h. The
originality of this study is the addition of boron to metal acetates. The fibers were characterized by FT-IR, DSC, XRD and SEM. The addition of boron did not only increase the thermal stability of the fibers, but also increased their diameters, which gave stronger fibers. The FT-IR spectra of the fibers were in good accordance with literature data. The DSC results indicate that the glass transition (Tg) and melting temperatures (Tm) showed a change with the addition of boron. Also, boron doped fibers were observed to degrade at higher temperatures. XRD analyses showed that after further heat treatment at 800 oC, zirconia exists in two phases of tetragonal and monoclinic modifications. The systematic evolution of morphological features in the spun and the processed fibers were studied by scanning electron microscopy. The SEM appearance of the fibers showed
that the addition of boron resulted in the formation of cross linked bright surfaced fibers.

The ba was often written with the sign of a saddle-billed stork or a human-headed falcon and translated into modern languages as the “soul.” It counts among key Egyptian religious terms and concepts, since it described one of the individual components or manifestations in the ancient Egyptian view of both human and divine beings. The notion of the ba itself encompassed many different aspects, spanning from the manifestation of divine powers to the impression that one makes on the world. The complexity of this term also reveals important aspects of the nature of and changes within ancient Egyptian religion.

The akh and the ba count among the most important Egyptian religious concepts of human and divine beings. Both occur frequently in Egyptian texts, from its beginnings until the very
dusk of the hieroglyphic script, and, coincidently, both were represented by signs in shape of birds. This study focuses on the interdependency between the term or notion and the sign and its natural model. The outcomes reveal that natural changes can have important impact upon script, ideas and religious beliefs.

Biodetritus that formed over a 7-month period in microcosms with Viviparus viviparus, Unio pictorum , and Ceratophyllum demersum contained a number of elements. This is the first study to determine concentrations of some elements in biodetritus. Neutron activation analysis showed that the elements’ concentrations decrease in the following order: Ca > Zn > Ba > Br > Ce > Se > Nd > La > U > Hf > Sb > Th > Sm > S > Cs > Au. The data obtained contribute to understanding of the polyfunctional role of aquatic organisms in aquatic ecosystems.

Virtual environments intended to support creative collaboration are being built without an informed consideration of the implicit interaction design choices being made. This paper proposes a set of design principles for such environments. Drawing from theory and reflective practice we suggest a conceptual focus on a Distributed Studio designed around the following five principles: Support Reconfiguration, Mix Realities, Control Access, Be A/Synchronous, and Transform Space into Inhabited Place.

The present paper aims at analysing a topic so far unexplored, the three-dimensional representations of the bA-bird. By this definition I intend the well-known figurines and statuettes that almost every Egyptian museum and collection possesses. We know what these three-dimensional samples represent, nevertheless little is known of their origin and function due to the widespread lack of data about their original findspot. Starting from a description of the objects in question, I will deal with the first, hypothesized representations of the bA and the appearance of the human-headed bird iconography representing it, also proposing an interpretation for the first bA-bird statuettes. In the following step I will suggest why the bA-bird figurine production stepped up after the New Kingdom, taking into account the development that occurred within the funerary equipment. In doing so, I am aware that I am far from offering conclusive solutions but I hope that through this investigation this category of objects may receive further attention by scholars.

Using molecular dynamics simulations, we investigate the effects of different nanoconfinements on complex liquids-e.g., colloids or protein solutions-with density anomalies and a liquid-liquid phase transition (LLPT). In all the confinements, we find a strong depletion effect with a large increase in liquid density near the confining surface. If the nanoconfinement is modeled by an ordered matrix of nanoparticles, we find that the anomalies are preserved. On the contrary, if the confinement is modeled by a disordered matrix of nanoparticles, we find a drastically different phase diagram: the LLPT shifts to lower pressures and temperatures, and the anomalies become weaker, as the disorder increases. We find that the density heterogeneities induced by the disordered matrix are responsible for the weakening of the LLPT and the disappearance of the anomalies.

The author demonstrates that there is probably no such thing as an immortal soul or spirit. This result suggests that a conscious machine or android should have just as many rights as a human. It also raises the policy question of what should be done about the large numbers of people throughout the world who believe in an immortal soul.

We analyze a two-dimensional discrete-time SIS model with a non-constant total population. Our goal is to determine the interaction between the total population, the susceptible class and the infective class, and the implications this may have for the disease dynamics. Utilizing a constant recruitment rate in the susceptible class, it is possible to assume the existence of an asymptotic limiting equation which enables us to reduce the system of two-equations into a single, dynamically equivalent equation. In this case, we are able to demonstrate the global stability of the disease-free and the endemic equilibria when the basic reproductive number (R 0) is less than one and greater than one, respectively. When we consider a non-constant recruitment rate, the total population bifurcates as we vary the birth rate and the death rate. Using computer simulations, we observe different behavior among the infective class and the total population, and possibly, the ocurrence of a strange attractor.

Summary. The formation of active oxygen species affects the morphogenesis of plant cells and tissues and inhibits the process of development during in vitro cultivation. Cytokinins have been found to be effective free radical scavengers. Peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.7) is among enzymes expressing antioxidative functions. The present study was focused on the effect of N 6-benzyladenine (BA), and N 1-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N 2-phenylurea (4PU-30) on guaiacol-peroxidase activity regarding the break and growth of axilary buds in rose (Rosa hybrida L.) in vitro. The activity of peroxidase was determined by the method of Hart et al. (1971). Three concentrations of cytokinins (1.0 µM; 1.6 µM; 2.2 µM) were tested. — Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) is a small tree shrub of the family Myrtace, grown naturally of the Mediterranean area. Myrtle is very important as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and hypoglycemic agent. Turkey has great genetic resources for myrtle. Propagation of myrtle genotypes is significant issue. Plant tissue culture techniques offer fast and reliable micropropagation for many plant species. Different media content could be used for micropropagation in in vitro condition. The aim of the present study is to determinate of effects of different media on micropropagation and rooting in myrtle. For this purpose, Murashige and Skoog (MS), Rugini Olive Medium (OM) and Woody Plant Medium (WPM) media were used for micropropagation and rooting experiments. All media were supplemented with 1 mg l-1 BA for micropropagation, 1 mg l-1 IBA for rooting. The rate of micropropagation and plant length, rooting rate, numbers of root and root length were determined. Rooted with well-developed shoots transferred to plastic pots containing autoclaved peat and perlite (1:1, v/v). The potted plants were placed in a greenhouse. Acclimatized plants were compared after eight weeks. Means were separated by analysis of variance and the LSD test was performed to examine significant differences. Based on the result, the best medium was detected WPM on micropropagation rate (6.75 per plant), and then MS (4.20 per plant), OM (3.70 per plant). According to rooting data the highest rooting rate was calculated in WPM with 100%, rooting rate in OM and MS media was detected 70% and 50%, respectively.

A BSc-képzésre jelentkezettek és felvettek adatait vizsgálva azt látjuk, hogy mintegy követik a felvételire jelentkezettek és felvettek országos trendjét, ennek megfelelően differenciálódnak a nappali és levelező tagozat, illetve a finanszírozás szerint. Az előző tendencia jól kitapintható, ha a szakközépiskolából, illetve gimnáziumból érkezők arányának alakulását vesszük figyelembe. A szakközépiskolából érkezők aránya magasabb a jelentkezettek, mint a felvettek körében, illetve magasabb a nappali tagozatosok, mint a levelező tagozatosak között. Ez azt jelenti, hogy a BSc-képzésre jelentkezettek között hasonlóan érvényesül az iskolai szelekció, mint az egyetemi hallgatók körében.
A BSc-hallgatók családi hátterét vizsgálva azt találtuk, hogy a szülőknél kirajzolódó osztályszerkezetben ma már egyre erőteljesebben érvényesülnek a piaci viszonyok. Fokozatosan háttérbe tolódik az állami szférában dolgozók, a közalkalmazottak aránya, annak ellenére, hogy ez az anyák esetében még igen jelentős.
A vizsgálat során azt találtuk, hogy a felvett hallgatók kevésbé rendelkeznek behatárolt célokkal a felvételielőtt. Az alapvető motiváló erő az, hogy az egyetem elvégzése szükséges a jobb anyagiak eléréséhez,hogy a diploma segítségével lehet leginkább a munkanélküliséget elkerülni. A BSc választása nem tudatos döntésen alapult, hanem azt a képzés jellegétől független tényezők (a szakma, a szakterület és aválasztott intézmény ismerete, az intézmény minősége) határozták meg. A hallgatók a felvételi jelentkezés időszakában alig rendelkeztek információkkal arról, mit is tanulnak majd a képzés során, illetve milyen végzettséget, továbbtanulási/elhelyezkedési lehetőséget jelent számukra ez a diploma.
A BSc-hallgatók számára is az életforma fontos része a szabadidő eltöltése: a megélhetési költségek utána szórakozásra, kulturális tevékenységekre, élvezeti cikkekre és kommunikációs eszközökre fordított költségek következnek. A tanulásra (könyv, jegyzet stb.) fordított költségek csak harmadik helyre kerülneka rangsorban.
Az egyetemi hallgatói státuszt jelentős mértékben befolyásoló diákhitel is leginkább a fogyasztói életforma elterjedéséhez járul hozzá. Azt, hogy a fogyasztói életforma a BSc-hallgatók számára (is) meghatározó jelentőségű, jól mutatják a hallgatók fogyasztói státuszát jelző adatok. Míg a szülők iskolázottságában markáns különbségek mutatkoznak, melyek kifejezésre jutnak a szülők fogyasztói/anyagi státuszában, addigezek a különbségek kiegyenlítődnek a hallgatók fogyasztói státuszában. Ez a hallgatók továbbtanulási aspirációi és esélyei közötti ellentmondásra is utal.
A hallgatók döntő többsége 24 éves korra tervezi tanulmányai befejezését, és egy évvel későbbre, 25 éves korra teszi az állandó munkavállalás időpontját.
A megkérdezettek fele a későbbiekben MSc-szinten szeretné folytatni tanulmányait, de ezt kizárólagos célként csak a hallgatók egyötöde fogalmazta meg. A továbbtanulási elképzelések szorosan összefüggneka szülők iskolázottságával. A szakmunkásképzővel rendelkező apák gyermekeinek alig több mint kétötö de(44,6%), az egyetemet végzetteknek viszont mintegy kétharmada (67,1%) nagyon szeretne részt venni MSc -képzésben. Ha a szülők közül senki sem érettségizett, egyharmad, ha mindkettő diplomás, már kétharmada fenti arány. Jól mutatja a továbbtanulás és a szülők iskolázottsága közti összefüggést, hogy az elsőgenerációs értelmiségiek 43,8%-a, a második generációsok 58,9%-a, a harmadik generációsoknak viszont67,6%-a akar MSc-szinten továbbtanulni.
A szakmai karrier építésében is többféle elképzelés fogalmazódik meg. A megkérdezetteknek nem egészen a fele ragaszkodik ahhoz a szakhoz, amelyre jelenleg is jár. Elképzelhető továbbá számukra, hogy a BSc után itthon vagy külföldön munkát vállaljanak.
A jövőben fontos tendencia lesz/lehet az is, hogy felcserélődnek a tanulási és munkavállalási életutak, vagyis az MSc-szint folytatására nem közvetlenül végzés után kerül sor.
