Halloween is such a fun time of year. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the gory, bloody part of Halloween but I love pumpkins, Jack O' Lanterns, and cute little ghosts and witches. It is also a fun time to make and give treats to friends and neighbors. When I was a kid I remember BOOing our neighbors. We would put together a little plate of treats, leave it on a neighbor's doorstep, ring the doorbell and run away. A paper was left with the treats telling them they had been BOO'd and asking them to pass it on to another person. Today I am sharing a cute way to BOO your neighbors or friends by making a crocheted container and filling it up with candy and treats. You can find lots of fun stuff at Walmart to fill up your BOO Basket.

The first thing that I did was make a little crocheted basket using orange yarn. I made it using 3 strands of worsted weight yarn held together to made it hold it's shape nicely. After I finished crocheting the basket I cut a Jack O' Lantern face out of black felt and used hot glue to attach the face to one side of the basket. You could also make it in white yarn and add a ghost face.

After I finished the basket I needed to get some stuff to fill it up with.

I headed to Walmart where I picked up a couple of big variety packs of candy. I got one bag of chocolate candy, SNICKERS ®, TWIX ®, and M&M's ®, and another bag of fruity candy, Skittles ® and Starburst ®. I know in our family some people prefer chocolate and others prefer the fruity, chewy candy so I thought it would be good to have a variety. I also picked up a couple kinds of soda in cute little mini monster cans*. I went with Sunkist ® Soda and A&W® Root Beer. Lastly, I picked up some American Greetings ®  tissue paper in Halloween colors to stick in the bottom of my basket to make it look a little nicer.

I brought all of the stuff home and filled up my basket. I added some black tissue paper in the bottom, them filled it with a couple handfuls of candy. After that I stuck in a couple of cans of soda.

Last I printed off a BOO card to stick in the basket. You can find cards to print at BooItForward.com I wanted to somehow stand it up in the basket so I  grabbed a bamboo skewer that I had and cut off the pointy end. Then when I folded the card in half I glued the skewer inside. That way I was able to stick it in the back of the basket. The last thing to do is decided who you want to secretly deliver your BOO basket to. You could deliver it to a neighbor, a friend, a family member, teacher, co-worker, or anyone else you can think of.

The great part about this BOO kit is that you fill it up will all sorts of fun treats for your friend to eat, then once they are gone they still have a cute Halloween container. It could be used to fill up with candy for trick or treaters, or set on a desk as a candy bowl, or used as a decoration.
