Fall Mason Jar Centerpiece

Here's an easy way to add a little fall to your home- a simple centerpiece. I started with an empty tray that I picked up at the thrift store. If you don't have a tray, find a large platter or plate, anything that will ground your centerpiece. The dollar stores often have clear or silver platters for a dollar. Those would work. Next I took three mason jars and filled them with beans and pumpkin spice votives. These are actually Ball canning jars, but I think mason jar has become synonymous with any canning jar, so we'll call them mason jars. I place them in the center of my tray and then arranged a faux leaf garland around them. I filled in with faux pumpkins and gourds and some berry picks. Quick, easy and simple, and I now have a touch of all in my home. Just waiting for the air to cool! Fall Mantel with DIY Chevron Panel

I love the colors of fall and was excited to bring them into my home, but I wasn't quite ready to let go of summer. So just as I did with my porch and tablescape , I left some of my summer elements on the mantel and incorporated some fall. Here's the full shot of the mantel (along with the hideous tube TV and VCR, yes I said tube TV and V. C. R.  and we aren't that old or far behind on technology. We just don't watch TV.) Lets take a closer look at the lovely details: I left out one of the framed sea shells and homemade starfish and added some pumpkins. I made a chevron panel in orange to add a pop of color as a backdrop. My houndstooth duct tape pumpkin is making an appearance again. The panel and pumpkin will make an easy transition to Halloween. The other side features more pumpkins, seashells and some leaves on a frame . Below on the hearth are some white pumpkins and a scattering of leaves and shells. If you are interested in ma...

Looking back- Novembers past

Yikes! Tomorrow is Dec. 1! 24 days til Christmas, less if you need to have gift ready ahead of time. Before I freak out too much, let's take this last day of November to look back at projects from Novembers past. Some of you have never seen these, and I tend to forget about them myself so this has become a fun little feature for me. These were popular (I need to make more for some stockings). Felt flowers     I also made a felt yarn wreath.       Embellished pumpkins     Mini cone trees (I'm using these again this year.)     Painted rattan balls     Treat bag toppers   It looks like November is full of fall projects and decor with jump start on Christmas. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Skull and crow centerpiece for Halloween vignette

I have been in love with this centerpiece by Alderberry Hill ever since I first saw it.  I set about to create my own version of it, but since Halloween is fastly approaching, I had to do it the quick and easy way.   I didn't have time to search the thrift stores for items to make this centerpiece and I didn't have time to paint anything, so I shopped my house for items on hand to complete this.  Here's what I started with:   a charger, a trifle bowl, and a tall candlestick. The candlestick wasn't quite tall enough so I placed a block of foam in the bowl and set the candlestick on top. The skull isn't heavy so I don't have to worry about it tipping over. All of the inside was filled and covered with Spanish moss. Next I started filling the bowl and placing pumpkins and other items on the charger around the base of the bowl. I used some painted rattan balls I had on hand from previous years fall vignettes and table decor . I wanted ...

15 DIY Pumpkins

Happy Labor Day fellow Americans! For many, this marks the end of summer and  everyone starts gearing up for fall. For us southerners, it means a few more weeks of hot weather and fall won't be a thought until late September or October (maybe.) Nonetheless, I can't help thinking of fall decor and what better symbol to last from fall to Halloween through Thanksgiving than the pumpkin. Here are 15 ways to decorate a pumpkin. Embellished pumpkins and topiaries

I featured some pumpkin projects a while back on a Must Do Monday . I've wanted to do some of these since last year, but I'm so unwilling to pay the price for craft pumpkins, even the sale price. I got lucky during the spring and found some small ones at a yard sale. I thought I'd do a version for Halloween, but didn't get to it. So I've done some fall versions to replace the Halloween decor.
