Butterfly art... a little bit of spring

Today the hubby and I went to some yards sales. It was Peaches to Beaches , an annual event in Georgia. We stayed within our local county, but scored some great stuff. He got a fogger for $5 and some other Halloween stuff.  I got some pumpkins (4) so maybe this fall you will see some pumpkin crafts from me. I've saved links to a bunch that I saw last year. I also got two pillows for 50 cents each that I can use for forms for some of my future pillow projects that I want to try. It was a good day. After we came home, I finished up this framed butterfly art. The frame is from the Dollar Tree and I die cut the butterfly with a Sizzix die and cut a circle from Bazzill cardstock with a Spellbinders die. I embellished the butterfly with flowers and pearls.  Here is close up: I got the inspiration for this from a set of butterfly towels in my guest bath. They have butterflies with flowers embroidered on them. The background paper is from K&Co. Amy Butler. I added a strip...

Fabulous fall felt brooch

Sometimes the inspiration for projects comes from making a project or from my stash of supplies. When I made the flowers for my fall wreath, I thought these would look great made into a brooch. Also in the process of getting out some of the materials for my wreath, I came across some felt iron on appliques that were embellished with beads and stitches. Another aha! moment. I also have embroidery thread and seed beads in my stash, so I embellished my flowers on my brooch. I used other gold beads for the center of one flower and a vintage clip earring for the center of the other. I think this will look great on a cardigan. By the way- that cardigan came from a thrift shop for 25 cents!! I was excited about that find. Here's a quick little how to on the brooch: Cut flowers from coordinating felt with a die. Layer and glue them together. Embellish each flower. I sewed the beads on the petals and center of one. I glued the earring to the center of the other. (Remove earring b...

Fall wreath

For the past ten (plus) years I have had the same wreath on my door year round except for Halloween and Christmas. This year I decided to change that up and have seasonal wreaths. Since I didn't own a fall wreath, there was nothing to do but make one! I took an old grapevine wreath and removed the old dirty decorations. I had some maple leaves left over from some other projects. I purchased a leaf and berry garland from the Dollar Store to add to that because I was afraid I didn't have enough leaves. I bought four berry picks (.69 cents on sale at Michael's last weekend) and some mini pumpkin, gourd, and pine cones. My original inspiration for the wreath came from this Sizzix project so I made flowers out of felt with my Flowers layers #3 die and cut some leaves from felt with a Sizzix die. I have roughly $6.00 in this wreath. I also have some leftover mini, gourds, pumpkins, and pine cones. Anyone have any ideas for using those? I'm trying to use my stash up and ...

Recipe challenges

Hello and I hope you have all had a great day. I've been doing some crafting after cleaning house this morning. I'm beginning my Valentine's projects. I hope to send some little treats to family this year and maybe pass some out to our Sunday School class members. Here is a fry box I made to hold some candy (or cookies if I get some baked). I made my box using the recipe challenges from Paper Sundaes (brown, pink, lace, and flowers) and The Pink Elephant (polka dots, a bow, and pink.) I also have some die cut hearts on my box- Secret Crafter Saturday has set a heart theme challenge. As promised, the blog candy has been increased. More will be added as more enter, so make sure you stop by this post for a chance.

Celebrate!

Charisma Cardz is celebrating their birthday. There is lots of candy involved! Make sure you click the link to them. I made this card for their challenge. The layout uses Sketch Saturday's sketch . I also made this for the Bella challenge at Splitcoaststampers. Paper: K& Co. Stamp: Stamping Bella Giftabella Tools: Nestabilities; Copics (I forgot to keep up with these colors); Sizzix corners; Big Shot Accents: Brads, Prima flower, fibers
